  • Why doesn't Kinect get a light-gun with a controller on it?! With the Kinect technology you can probably do some pretty sweet things... It'd be like a shooter in the arcades. When you kneel down, you're character kneels. When you aim the gun (looking through the iron sights) the game will automatically ZOOM in or something (Battlefield style). No 3D weapon model on the screen, just your own light-gun and skill of aiming (Duck Hunt). It can be a gigantic WW2 game a-la Battlefield: 1942. Hire me.

I wasn't kidding. Hire me now. Microsoft, if you're listening; I have absolutely NO experience with creating games, and I have NO knowledge of computers. As a matter of fact, I don't even know what the hell I'm talking about right now. But I expect to get paid a lot of money... A lot! Is that understood? Please consider my offer as I am not in demand and readily available. Except on Fridays nights, Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings. Good day.

  • The Kinect thing is pretty awesome but does the response lag affect the gameplay?

  • @demize2010 yeah, like other said, have you tried using with a source port like gzdoom, risen3d, etc? ;-)

  • you need 2 kinects (front and back) and a hmd for 360 degrees of crosshair rotation

  • *O*

  • Thry with an Source-Port of Doom instead of the SNES Version

  • omg, now i have a reason for get kinect :D

  • why would you use the SNES version of doom? D:

go get yourself a modern source port like gzdoom

  • @MateusAndNickStories It doesn't need a version 2, just a small chuck type device to help with movement, looking ultimately can be done with you hands but I prefer holding a control with a trigger and feedback (see my other videos)

  • Wait, so if you can hack the Kinect, can you please hack the Saitek X52 controller to make it work on a PS3???

I would love to be able to use that controller to play hawx on my PS3.. ? Can something like that be done?

  • @Crazyglues The real hacking was done by Evan Suma at USC. I've just used his FAAST toolkit and applied to a variety of games ;)

  • @demize2010

oh I see, well thanks for replying back to me...

  • @Crazyglues

I guess I'll try to get in touch with him.. whoever he is he seems to be really good at programing / hacking..

  • FPS can be done on Kinect, so dont hate.

  • @Zombl337 PC does it best. ;)

  • when i was playing doom at the first release , i wasn't even dreaming about that.

  • I hate to say, but I dont feel Gestures will ever have the reaction time as a keyboard and mouse does or the accuracy of the control you are trying to perform

Sure, it looks fun, but to complex to be efficient.

  • @Zeoinx69 True.

  • Hey, I like the video and am trying to implement faast to some of my gaming favorites. I have been successful in using the system while web browsing, however, I ran into issues while trying to use it while playing morrowind.

I am not sure if its because it needs CD to run or what, any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can the mic's be used under FAAST? I'd like to see speech-control in addition to gestures. Very cool video. Keep posting

  • @Nsluyters Thanks man, I have a cunning plan for the next video... there is one particular title that I've just realised would work really well. Main problem at the moment is that FAAST doesn't have mouse control yet but I think I have a rather cool way around that. No voice control in the Primesense OpenNI at this stage I think, also

no control for the motor :(
