No, he did not back up the vocals in Hindi, he backed up the vocals in Urdu. Big difference there. Songs are not sung in Hindi, but Urdu, which has the background for these types of things.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan(one minute in his memory). I have this friend in India, she told me that, for them,he was a celebrity. In this video he shows part of their culture: nearly a religious song. Pretty cool!
