There is no "desperation" as you have implied. There was no catalyst either. They simply did what they wanted as soon as they could. It's about the money not depleting oil sources ass-clown.

Did I say anything about depletion? Peak oil means the cessation of GROWTH, and that's all it will take. Our entire economy is based on not just growth, but exponential growth (percentage based growth). We can't grow 3% a year if our energy supplies stay flat or begin to fall. Cheney knows when the peak arrives, Iraqi oil will be the most important. It's the easiest, it's the cheapest, and now it's under our control. Our bases are directly on the fields. Thats a big F-U to the world.
