TW sucks ass man. The service is really shitty and the worst part is when I'm doing homework it will just shut whatever is playing off and ask me to press a button to resume playing. DirecTV OS way better in my mind
My mother in law just called asking me what "Mystro" was. I got on line and found out how many others have problems, you just have to assume that Time Warner is run by overpaid idiots with total job security. Very sad. I keep telling her to get DirecTV. It ain't perfect but sometimes a change is better than nothing.
I've had 6 SE DVR's and they all where junk....Now I have "New" Cisco box and it's still fucked up....not as bad, but they are maxxed out on system memory. TWC is simply taking on more than they can chew.
it has everything to do with Mystro, the type of cable box (model number more important than brand) and the wiring condition...don't just jump to conclusions and say SA is bad, or Warner is bad, it works fine at my place...

What matters is the person footing the costly bill gets to watch a black screen with "Please Wait.....", or the blue screen while the box resets over and over again.
That would be fine if we all lived in New York or Illinois. Optimum which is a Cablevision subsidiary just like Lightpath is not available nationwide like TWC's monopolizing arses.

Because I've tried 3 different brands, trust me, they all suck! There's old 59 arial in stretches of the area on the poles that they've still not changed, it's been metered countless times and I'm receiving weak signal @ the drop to begin with here.
But, I still don't like Mystro regardless if the box works properly or not.

If your neighbors have 59, then it won't effect you just them. there is Sisco who bought SA, there is Samsung and Motorola. Maybe get a supervisor out this time if they haven't been there already. Looks to me is that you need a service call.... Have them replace your drop and the outlet.... may have bad splitter... low mhz splitter , bad fittings... kink in the cable... or even water... Once water gets in the cable it acts like a vacuum and will go throughout your whole cable... The boxes are designed that if the signal goes bad then becomes good they reboot so they become interactive! Has NOTHING to do with mystro
Way ahead of you. Have had a new arial drop, new splitter, new F (RG6) connectors, and new line direct to the cable box all replaced. Signal strength was tested and more than adequate. Plain and simple, it's EVERYTHING to do with Mystro that sucks. I have other TV's without converter boxes, and they work fine upto ch70~something unfortunately. If I wasn't spoiled on the HD ch's and the menu\guide option, I'd chunk the box all together and save myself the extra $8mo.
we have time warner cable and I will be getting the new mystro system sometime in may 2010 for new york state. But I think it will suck. I like the old system better. We may not use the cable box anymore. We can watch cable tv without it

Yea becuse the dvr boxes the 8300 I had to replace every three years or so and I getting tired of they shoud not ware out so soon even if you do record 24 hours seven day of the week 365 days of the year
This "New" and "Improved" Mystro thing sucks. It doesn't work at all. They menu is crap, all shows are constantly freezing up and losing audio. Ridiculous! It always boots up out of nowhere and is stuck on the boot menu for about ten minutes. I'm so sick of this.

I thought the Cable Box problem was in my house! Now I know I'm not alone on this. Either is the Cable Box or it the Cable Operator. I have Bright House Networks, a small cable operator serving the entire Orlando FL, Tampa Bay FL, Indianapolis IN, Detroit MI, Rural Alabama and Bakersfield CA.
Have looked into that, the Tivo HD avg's anywhere between $200~$300, and the TWC cablecard avg's anywhere between $1.75~$3.00 monthly rental, aft you get one that actually pulls in "all" the HD and reg channels. Doesn't work for (PPV) Pay Per View, nor (OD) On Demand. Also, there seems to be a installation fee varying many different prices, unless your squeeky wheel gets the grease and they wipe off that fee.
In addition, then if TWC is broadcasting any of their channels in (SDV) Switched Digital Video, will also need a tuning adapter, which should be provided by TWC.
Mystro stinks!!!Menu is missing all the advantages the old menu had,such as clicking on current show and seeing instantly all future showings, or searching for a favorite actor or actress,by name,and seeing what shows they are in that week,details of the show you are watching are sorely limited in the info button( major actors starring in show),wakeup alarm cannot be programmed for the week,only daily...plus many more that we no longer have...please bring back the old (PowerTV?) menu TWC!!!
I have the SA-4250 box as JackPlatt had mentioned with HDMI cable going to one TV. The other is a direct feed from (1) T.W. 2-way splitter. The signal strength was tested and shown to be sufficient.
Concerning this issue, the problem is in the wiring and signal strength instead of the box. If you are getting that boot-up screen more than once a WEEK, you definitely have a wiring or signal strength issue. I would recommend calling and requesting to test your wiring and signal strength. There is definitely a problem with one or both of these issues. The SA-4250 is a newer model box, so that should not be the problem. Have your signals checked out for sure.
Happens to me about once or twice a day. Mystro obviously has a memory leak or something. Getting a better box (with more memory) will help, but won't get rid of the bugs in the lousy code (written in Java..LOL). I feel your pain, man.

Well, I exchanged boxes yet again, now have a (scientific atlanta explorer 4250 box) seems to work better. But instead of it completely shutting off and rebooting, it gives a (Please Wait....) for about 5 sec. Happens about once every couple hours.
Send your TW an email telling them about the problem, and how many times it happens. FYI, If you word it right, they may even compensate part of your bill.
that's because you have the odn box. they're new boxes, and they're problematic. unless you desperately need high def (not even, they have legacy hd boxes) or are in love with set-top caller id, just swap it for an older box and this won't happen.
I had the older box,it lagged more than this one. I've exchanged boxes around 5 times now, thinking of changin to dish,real tired of the run-around with warner.

Get a TIVO HD, and then get a cablecard from TWC. Then you wont have to deal with there garbage software, and hardware.
