@Theblackfang01 I use a DSLR to shoot these timelapse clips. You just take a bunch of stills as frames of video. There are a bunch of tutorials on how to shoot timelapse. I would suggest you look there to see how to do it. If you just think about it I'm sure you can figure it out. Go out and shoot some tests and off of those tests see what you need to change to make it look good.
@sciroccoguy use the TC-80N3 timer remote controller from Canon to control your 40D and have the camera on a tripod. Just test it out and see what you get.
That airport footage looks like aliens LOL.... Nice work you know what you are doing with your white balance and aperture settings... how do you get them so perfect for night photography? Very Nice Work .
@8myhomework I set the color temp and just work with it from there. But I'm also shooting in RAW so I can change it when I bring it in to process, which I do most of the time.
But can i make a time lapse video with a video camcorder?
Check my channel. there is a Time Lapse video, and it's recorded with a camcorder. But i can't get the nice effects on the night shots. det lines after the cars light :S
Your videos are so popular here that I had to dig to find your actual channel, lol! First saw your Time Lapse 1 earlier this year & was wowed: Instantly saved to favorites. Hope you'll be able to make longer ones we can buy. For meditation or sleep. They're amazing. Love the sepia tones & soft lights, especially. Brings back memories of traveling, at night, with family when I was young - past docks by the bay or long highways..heaven..& all this beauty came from inside you...awesome... (o:
Well I just picked up a 5D2 and I really like it. I haven't used the GH1 so I really can't give an opinion about it. I know it has a smaller sensor than the 5D2. Shooting timelapse on the 5D2 in full frame is amazing. I'm hoping to to be posting another timelapse reel on here soon with timelapse from the 5D2, along with the RED One.
Hey man, awesome video. I'll be doing some of my own shortly when i visit europe next week. I have a question. What are your intervals for the night shot? When I try dragging the shutter 1.3 seconds or so with an interval of 2 seconds between the shots, it looks too fast (30 frames a second) I was wondering how to get that nice slow effect. Thanks.
First off - 5 STARS!!.. some simply amazing shots here... beautiful.. and thank you for posting in such high quality.. I've had to watch over and over several times.. will add to favs... Now if I am to critique at all.. I would just say maybe work on the edits a little - as far as matching with the music for a litttle more dramatic effect.. and as beautiful as the first cpl of shots are.. they don't seem to fit with most of the vid.. But I LOVED IT!
The video I only edited a little to get some of the musical cues to hit. The next one I'm working on is going to be edited to some music I have picked out.
Nope. Its just a lake up by Redding CA that had clouds coming up off the ground. There was a little bit of snow on the ground. So I think when the sun hit it there seemed to be a steam like effect.
your time lapses are realy cool and i want to no know how you set them up please reply

how many fps this camera????
2009kitz2009 6 months ago
@2009kitz2009 the RED camera does 120fps. But all of this is timelapse so the cameras are shooting anywhere from 1fps-10spf.

How do you go about setting this up? I'd love to try this with my 40d!

And maybe the track name please?

@o1mathiiDK
No, you just need to adjust the shutter speed of your camcorder to ap below 1/12. If your able to though....

I has a Canon HF200
Maybe i can do it on that :D

Completely amazing. I love all the shots, especially the city ones you got with the wide angle lens. Also the shot around 1:20 of the clouds forming.

RED is amazing, just a question. You said you used Canon 40d for the night shots, but isn't Canon 40D a still camera?
PaulBacera 2 years ago
Yes the 40D is a DSLR still camera. Just kind of think of it as generating frames in a flip book.
awalker599 2 years ago
@awalker599 Did you rig up your 40D to shoot continuously through your laptop? How many frames were you shooting per minute?
DBZMBrolly 1 year ago
@DBZMBrolly there's a controller that Canon sells called the TC-80N3 and that's what I use to control the camera. Much smaller than a laptop.
awalker599 1 year ago
Absolutely incredible. Really reallly amazing. Just wondering:
What camera do you use?
How do you manage to keep it so still?? Its as if it is frozen in time. Surely on those higher up shots there must be some movement due to wind etc??
