@stripedshirts Uh, maybe because almost all the other Hitchcock actors were like 30 years older than Tony (except Sean Connery who was only 2 years older)
@DominoPetachi83 Janet was 52 at this tribute in 1979. I think it is the 'bleach blonde seventies style' that you may find makes her look older. She was always very slim but still looked very pretty at 77 when she passed away. The stars of this era did not go 'industrial' on the plastic surgery so they still look or looked like themselves. Cheers:)
@tarnsand I watched the A&E biography documentary of Ms. Leigh and she had some very sad times in her life. Around the same time, her father committed suicide and her husband (Tony Curtis) dumped her for a 17 year old starlet. This must have caused a lot of stress which contributed to her aging quickly.
I used to have this tribute on VHS back in the day. This is a beautiful looking print considering its age. Is it available to buy anywhere or download? Appreciate any info.
@1woozoo I can guarantee you, he's enjoying, it's just his humour, he's planning what funny to say. It's his humour to pretend he's not enjoying, or that he's angry, but it's just his humour.
Say what you want about Dracula, Creature From The Black Lagoon, the Mummy, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, and other monster films released by Universal Pictures/Studios, but in my opinion, the horror genre, STARTED with Psycho. In fact, I've seen Psycho MORE TIMES than (the original) Halloween and the Shining.
@AngelofAnguish But what you are claiming is Psycho started the horror genre...that's debatable since Horror ittself has many aspects. You can say it inspired a lot of slasher films and thrillers....but that would be about it. It's no better or worse than a film like James Whale's Frankenstein. To say a single film started the horror genre you would have to define exactly what horror is..which is impossible.
@TheForgottenFlesh Hitchcock always claimed he intended it as a comedy, though he probably was only half serious. In any event, it's generally regarded as a horror film in retrospect, partly due to the amount of horror films that were influenced by it over the years.
@SteveJ2008 it would really depend on what a person's deffinition of "Horror" is. is it blood and gore? Is it not showing anything? Is it a giant monster? is it a ghost story? It's impossible and purley subjective. I'm looking at it from a point of view of...a murder mystery. The only difference is we know who the murderer is....either Norman or his Mother.
@TheForgottenFlesh The one major thing I hate about the film is the explaination. It would have been so much more errie if they left that sequence out...but as Hitchcock always said "American audiences want to be spoonfed...if they arn't they get angry."
Perkins was brilliant in Murder on the Orient Express as the nervous neurotic Hector Macqueen, who was the Valet of the horrid Richard Widmark character...In fact he was never better in anything else
Tony Perkins wife died in the September 11 tragedy...she was on board one of the plane that hit the world trade center tower, its ironic he should die September 12.... 10 years later.
Didn't perkins wife die on 9/11...? I think she was in one of the planes that hit the twin towers when she was on her way back home from visiting her husband's grave site!
@Tusc9969 Berry Berenson, Perkin's wife from 1973 to his death in 1992, died at age 53 in the September 11, 2001 attacks aboard American Airlines Flight 11. She was returning to her California home following a holiday on Cape Cod.
aww this is priceless, tony perkins is such an amazing guy god bless his soul, and luv the little kiss he gives her as he walks to the other side of the stage lol
I agree, tuscatom. They don't make them like they used to (both the stars and the movies). Sure there are some excellent stars and movies today, but not in the abundance of the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Tony looked fantastic here - how old was he then? he was the only male from amongst the Hitchcock men who did not go grey or white.
