im runnin a jdm d16zc all motor in the 1/4 at 12.8 @ 109mph. mods include: d17 crank, eagle rods, forged hc pistons(12:1), skunk 2 valve springs, valves, retainers, cam. ported and polished head, skunk 2 intake manifold, 70mm throttle body, password jdm intake, 5zigen headers to a mugen twin loop exhaust, lsd transmission with exedy stage 3 clutch and 8lb fidanza flywheel its dynoed at 223hp and 138lbtq. its a "b" eater :) so yes depending on the build and tune.. d motors can still beat anything
I have a d16z6 with arp head studs arp rod bolts eagle rods running on 9 pounds of boost tuned on hondata s300. I never had a car pull up next to me that could pull away from me or even keep up. : ) D series = cheap power
i have a d15z1 mini me w/ cold air intake and integra injectors ;From d hole i can keepup w an stock integra but only to 3rd gear my trany is a Y4[not mutch but i love the fuel economy]
Trannys & tires make a big difference,study gear ratios, also..put a B Series throttle body on your sohc...direct fit...hmmm,now where getting close to same airflow...remember..1.6ci is 1.6ci, you can catch that 2nd cam
1.6Liters is 1.6liters,b or d series! the extra cam is more fuel and air, better flow,a single cam has great potential as well when it comes to cubic inches.
chipped with higher revs your control saves the engine but if the spring gives , valve drops,well, bye engine. got mine set @ 85 but only sees that on slips usually spinning dynos 107hp,100tq...HP starts dropping @ 7 so I shift there,but an intake,throttle body,and more fuel(pressure or larger injector)will give more on top D16 engines are tough have friends that boosted 12psi stock and seen some run there's to 9+ some hold it some don't
