I've always wondered... why couldn't they have just turned Cap's shield into a forcfield/wave canon?
Vibranium can be used to power vibratory guns and shields: you'd think some whiz-bang scientist back in the war could have REALLY given Cap an excuse to forgo camouflage.
During the last Captain America episode, I saw a guy who I swear both looked and sounded just like Wolverine. If that's so then how could Logan possibly be around during the 1940's and what does he have to do with the Avengers team
Wolverine/Logan is established as being al least a hundred years old due to his mutant healing factor allowing him to age very slowly. He and Captain America are old war buddies from the 40's. The character in this avengers episode is indeed supposed to be Logan, they just don't call him by name.
@sadlobster1 That was Wolverine going by his real name, Jim Howlett, before he was recruited into Weapon X. His mutant healing factor means he is incredibly long lived having been born sometime before the American Civil War. During World War 2 he fought for the Allies. Hope that answers your question.
@sadlobster1 Logan can't die of old age. He fought in both WWI and WWII, so it could really be him. As for your other question Logan has been in the core Avengers many times.
@sadlobster1 Well, believe it or not, Logan was actually born with an expanded life-span in the 1800s, so he was able to join forces with Captain America in WWII. As for the Avengers, he's been on their team a few times. I'm no Marvel expert, but I hope this helps.
@sadlobster1 Logan's healing factor slows down his aging tremendously -- in the comics, he was actually born in the late nineteenth century and fought in both WWI AND WWII (and possibly the American Civil War as well).
@sadlobster1 james howlett aka wolverine was born in late 19th century..he is a mutant who has healing abilities which also grants him longevity in life....wolverine was once part of the avengers and him and captain america and him go way back

I saw it too, Logan actually worked alongside cap in WWII and The Invaders (though this info only came to light in comics in recent years)
