  • this isss my talent show song

  • I think this is from the ABC special "Let's Get Physical" in 1982.

  • Who else would like to punch the bassist? He's almost as bad as the keyboardist on "a little more love", Jeff Foxworthy.

  • ER she is from Australia...she was probably just visiting and maybe B-17 was what she remembered after several cocktails? hahaha. But I do love this song when I heard it in australia and you know...it made me like Nashville!!!

  • Olivia, what bar in Nashville are we talking about? Someone should find the "B-17" in question, and smash it for her. Would that help, Olivia?Let us know.

  • agree with benj1969,I love her songs and I have allways said Olivia Newton John Is The most prettiest woman, and doesnt even need all those make up artist around her.

  • im lucky that i was around during her era......there will be another olivia in the next decade or two..but her music will live forever...

  • excellent .. When I was a little kid, she already a very famous singer ...

  • Poor Olivia! Here she is, pouring her little heart out in this song & the stupid bassist is smiling. WTF! was he stoned or something??? Please, Mr. Please, don't play B:17.

  • @SuperMurraya that guy behind her is either high or in his own world.

  • @SuperMurraya so funny..... :)

  • i no longer consent to being governed. support our troops just means support the wars. no

  • Crap. I remember getting five songs for a quarter on the juke box.

  • @marianware I hear and remember

  • Comment removed

  • My mother used to always sing this song to me as a lullaby, and for that reason alone everytime I hear this song I get a bit teary -3

  • @iamizzy1988 If you can actually remember what was sung to you as a lullaby, then you were too old to have a lullaby sung to you in the first place!

  • HAS ANYONE HEARD THIS SAME SONG, BUT IN SPANISH?

AN ARTIST NAMED "MYRZA" ALSO PERFORMES THIS CLASSIC SONG AND ALSO FROM THE 70'S AS WELL. I LIKE THE SPANISH SONG VERSION BUT I MISSED THIS SONG AND I'M GLAD I FOUND IT ON YOUTUBE AND IT'S ALSO THE 1ST TIME I HEARD THIS SONG FROM OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN. THAT'S EXCELLENT.

  • she's a wonder !!!TNX !!!

  • Please Mr. please, don't play B-17, it was our song, it was his song, but it's over!!!

  • I like the song okay. But got to say this song has to be one of the most ironic songs of my life. lol. A long time ago when I was having a whirlwind romance with a guy who was using me as a stepping stone to get over his ex Girlfriend ( and yet I stayed even though I was painfully aware of it, but love is crazy) When I would stay the night one of his crazy roommates used to play this over and over when drunk. LOL. I used to laugh about it and i still do. reminded of an ex by a song about an ex.

  • Seriously....the only person that should ever wear a mullet She's the only one that ever pulled it off.

  • @sizemeat LMFAO that is TOO FUNNY:)...but very true.

  • @sizemeat I don't know, Markie Poste (Night Court) wore one pretty well for a season or two. But between the two Olivia was and always will be my favourite.

  • I also heard the original was "Please Nigger Please, get down on your knees" I think it was written by Paul Williams.

  • Simply Beautiful, I continue to wonder about the Types or Ages of the DISLIKES of a Gem such as this. I wonder if it's the GAGA/BEIBER/RIHANNA lovers

  • The best female singer on earth, and she´s now in CHILE, her concert is on monday.

    Got the ticket of course.

Al fin mi sueño se cumplirá, Olivia siempre te amaré

  • woke up at 5am with this song playing in my head..... she is my daughters favorite. My daughter is 9yrs old.... :). Nice way to wake up.

  • ahhh, freshman year (1975) hit on campus and in my heart.

  • This and Come on Over are my favorite Olivia's

  • VOICE OF AN ANGEL

  • love the song and onj but that dress is a mess. it just doesn't know what it wants to be.

  • That guy on the left with the guitar is annoying.

  • オリビアの中で一番好きな曲です。

  • lady ga ga wish she could sing this

  • she still rocks my world!!!!!!

  • Lady Ga Ga, eat your heart out!

  • wow shes hot yes and what a voice

  • I read somewhere that the original lyric was, " Please nigger please get your black ass on your knees."

The record company rejected it for some reason. So much for artistic integrity. It's a shame that a recording artist has to rewright a song to pacify some record exec.

  • great song! I just love me a oldie but goodie!! I just love this song!!!!

  • she`s a frickin stunna!!!!!!!!!

  • Hit #5 country, #3 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • That was a cute cowboy in the white cowboy hat on the guitar!

  • I had forgotten how country was the "in" thing during the mid-1980s and with songs like this one you can see why even Wall Street yuppies were sporting cowboy boots back then. Thanks for posting this beauty on youtube! Olivia was sensational.

  • this song was from the 70's

  • When I think of the late-1970s in New York, I think of disco music and Studio 54. I think of punk rock and CBGB.

One of the hot spots, by the mid-1980s, was the Lone Star Cafe on the southeast corner of 13th Street and Fifth Avenue under a huge iguana. The place was closed in 1989 as the country music fad faded from the City.

  • Can you tell me what kind of music box that is standing on the corner? I cant understand that she said on the first line of the song

  • "in the corner of the bar there stands a jukebox"

  • @maurydez a bloody wind up one with a monkey dancing on top!!!!!!!!

  • @maurydez - you never heard of a juke box? damn, that's almost funny

  • Olivia really can sing without needed studio technicians to increase the volume of her voice. She is so cool.

  • ONJ really is a five star performer!!!

  • Yessssssss Walgreen's plays this all the time yesssssssssssssssssssss

  • SONJIA LANELLE PARKER

    Roger is looking

    please contact me

  • LOL I THOUGHT HIS NAME WAS MR. PLEASE

  • I Love Youtube.

  • thank's STEVECVIL1 god bless u n her

  • @SteveCvil1 I love Olivia Newton-John! :)

  • @SteveCvil1 Until they start charging...

  • That's a cute little outfit she has on. So country glam down under.

  • In this video, Olivia Newton John had short hair. She must've cut her hair or something. Olivia looks better with long hair.

  • I've never seen this video before, but I've heard the song a thousand times. It was my puberty and I won't ever forget it.

  • That was a great song that Olivia Newton John sang. That was one of my favorite songs. This sounded like Olivia Newton John Live in Concert.

  • where's she now?

  • back home in aussie land.

  • Please Olivia, Please, I wanna hear this song again :-)

  • love this song !

  • Please me Please , Let Me Be There and If You Love Me Let Me Know were written by John Rostill , the bassist with the British group The Shadows .

Sadly John Rostill was killed in 1973 at the age of 31 when he was electrocuted in his home recording studio.

  • Electrocuted? How horrible.

  • @45rpmSINGLES - this song was also done by the Shadows originally & written by Bruce Welch

  • Always one of my favorite songs. Now I sing it to my baby daughter and she loves it too. Love you Olivia!

  • Great song - thanks for posting

  • Olivia and the Abba ladies(Frida and Agnetha) should have made an album together. All 3 of those heavenly voices together would be something.

  • @mbhotie715 - ONJ is fine all by herself - she doesn't need them losers from ABBA dragging her down...

  • does anyone know what year this concert was.

  • After a Google search, I found an HBO live concert recorded in 1982, and airing in Jan 1983. It must be this show, as the song titles match this performance. This may have been commercially available on DVD at one time, from Japan.

  • Nice song.

  • the black guy is annoying

  • Viva Olivia!

  • I believe that as time goes by, there will never be a female artist I would rather listen to than Olivia Newton-John. AFAIC she is the greatest singer who has ever lived.

  • Best female singer ever

  • Great song. Great hooks. Superb vocals on my favorite Olivia Newton John song. If you don't find yourself lip synching or toe tapping to this song, you're dead! One of the all time great pop songs by one of the most endearing female pop artists ever. Nice video.

  • apart from her wonderful voice...she has such expressive eyes like sheena easton. just beautiful!

  • Olivia...sigh!!!

  • my mum sang this to me as a lullaby since i was a baby. im not a fan of olivia, but this song always makes me want to cry. because my mum sang it just as good, and with just as much heartache. and now i sing it , and ill sing it to my children.

  • Originally recorded by The Shadows

  • i like the song

  • why do you all insist on talking crap about music today, you just have to know where to look, lol...like the 90's those were the last known years i think that were original, look at the 80s though, all those hair bands sounded alike, sorry to say but you guys are prolly older (no offense) and you dont keep up with music anymore...

  • Wrong! I follow contemporary music as much as I can stomach it- homogenous, assembly line, mediocre crap, with some exceptions of course. I don't cling to any decade as great music. I even go back as far as classical. But other decades at least laid new groundwork. Not saying there's no talent today- clearly there is. But not much that stands out as in some other eras. There are several today I like a lot, but they're few and far between.

  • that bass ploayer is way to happy its scary!

  • Amusing, I'll admit. I find him as interesting to watch as Olivia in her "girl mullett." But both are very entertaining in their own way. I remember watching BB KIng first row when his base player had an intense, "I'm gonna punch you out" look on his face. Didn't make him any less fun to watch. Quite the opposite in fact.

  • Ahh..An Evening with Olivia. I love this concert! Olivia's performance of all her hits from this '82 concert is the BEST. She had beautiful costumes and amazing talent. She really gave the crowd their money's worth. We just don't have singers or performers like this anymore in this day and age of cheap and shallow talent. (like anything out of american idol or the top 10 list nowadays).

Performers like Olivia are priceless. Period.

  • Priceless, indeed! Olivia is such a FINE singer and such a FINE person, too. She is what I call a WOMAN with CLASS!

  • Oh, I always liked this song and Olivia's beautiful voice. :)

  • Love Olivia. One of her best. Thanks.
