Simpsons has slowly degraded from something great, to something not so great. In earlier episodes the stories were character driven, with a touch of tragedy. We could relate with the characters and feel sorry for them as well as laugh. Now it seems to be all about 'crazy antics', guest stars and references to trends that people won't even get in 5 years time.

@PinkKiwi only "stupider" in the sense of they would not get the jokes, in the old simpsons they would satire old movies like different Alfred Hitchcock movies, or all quiet on the western front, etc. If they did that now the teens, which i think would watch the show, would not get it and thus the ratings would go down and then The Simpsons would be canceled. Or quiet possibly all the smart funny jokes have been used up, and new not to smart ones are being put out there as temporary jokes.

@gamerofmythology for the most part i believe it's the latter.. personally, i'm a teenager.. and i don't find the simpsons nearly as amusing as they used to be. i noticed back in 2004(i would've been 13 back then) i would be watching the show, and i just wouldn't laugh. maybe one chuckle, but that was it. ever since i discovered that i don't even try watching episodes past 2005.. because quite frankly, this show is no longer ingenious. or maybe my sense of humor doesn't match my generations.

How can we possibly succeed so much when our education is so poor. The answer is immigration. 50% of silicon valley is foreign born scientists. Anyway with the poor education it forces show writers to lower the quality so that they can market their product.
