The point is that you don't get infected only by downloading a file. This is just one of the possible channels. A virus may be on a pendrive, on a CD (even original ones sometimes!), or may be injected after a BOF has been produced by an attacker or a worm, and so on.
You evidently ignore the varied kind of security flows that allow sometimes to execute stuff you didn't click for. You HAVE to use an antivirus (esp. on win).

Kaspersky is the best, but NOD32 isn´t so bad either the only difference is that kaspersky has better rating in findig viruses but it is a little slower than NOD32.
i have norton right now and i hate it, the thing i hate most is the thing at the bottom of the screen that says norton and has the green check mark in it or the red x, its so anoying. i want to get Kaspersky does anyone no if it has that anoying thing at the bottom like norton does?
dude, change to KIS, I did and its loads better. You can remove that Norton thing though, I forget where but its the task bar appearance option or something... just look in norton's options. KIS has a small icon in the system tray but you can change it and its not annoying like Norton.
Works prefect on a vista with 2gb of ram. Awful on an XP with 512mb of ram, it wouldn't let me download anything on the internet, It kept annoying me about windows processes and slowed it down a bunch. The best AV for computers with 1gb of ram or more.

BEST AV but only use it with a p4 1gig ram and more. I intalled it on a p3 512mb ram and it burned the ram!
