Pretty much they are just keeping him in there till they can figure out what to do with him. And as far as Elena's age... I don't think that matters... x] he's over 1000 years old... anyone would be too young for him.

Elijah is both an interesting and exciting contrast to so many vampires and characters on the show. I think he's much more subtle, clean and to the point which makes him all the more scarier!!!
