@Clevercutechick , yes, this year the judges take into consideration the answer to the final question. Another set of judges might have not been swayed and could have made her the winner. But I could understand why Botswana won....as it seems Miriam is not a very good speaker. Her low interview score almost dropped her out of the top 5. She just made 3rd place as the final 3 and I was not surprised when she blew the final question as by then, I already expected she would.

I am a filipino and I'm proud of her. Not really a good answer though but c'mon people, we should not be that judgemental if some fails to answer a question especially those that are with pressure. Well, I admit, the question is not that hard but it's hard to deal with pressure. Pressure makes people to forget or etc. and before we criticize, I think we should imagine ourselves being in the situation.

She was the favorite. The crown was hers. Then came that last question. I can't blame her though. The q & a can be frightening, especially with the pressure of being the favorite. I'm still very proud of her, & for me, she was the winner.

@chonaV - A secretive, hiding, avoiding person would not be able to answer that question. But, a open, honest, humble and confident person would have NO trouble answering it. Do you know why it is asked in job interviews and pageants all the time? I think that it was the cultural different that mess-up Venus, and not the actual purpose, design or the intent of the question itself. What is a big-mistake to Venus? There is no definition of a big-mistake in English.

Still, it is different when there's pressure involved, and when you are answering a question not in your native tounge in front of a huge crowd. I have been in numerous interviews, and I was never asked about pregnancy among beauty queens, so I disagree with you. You have time to think of a better answer. These ladies don't.

@chonaV - I agree with you. 1). It is NOT a complicated question (the answer is complicated - if the wrong person answers it). 2). The pressure is equal for all contestants. 3). Venus should have used an interpreter. There was a chance she would of not understood such a legitimate, often asked question. 4). Who ask about pregnacy? 5). This question is asked at McDonald's job interviews - punk kids get it right. So I disagree with you there.

@philamos76 The level of pressure is different among contestants. The crowd favorite would always feel more pressure than the underdogs. Contestants that have english as their 2nd language would have more pressure than those who spoke english as their primary language, etc. But yes, an interpreter would've been better for Miriam and Venus. The question here is about pregnancy, unless u r referring to something else. Pregnancy among beaury queens has no relevance to McDonald's job interviews.

shes' great, myriam. fantastic to see a Pinay who actually looks Pinay -not westernized, not white skinned but distinctly pinay (not to say that i dont find other cultures beautiful) and she have brains. Shes' not so inlove with herself either as you mostly can see with pageant contestants nowadays. this is like watching Lea Salonga on her interview during Saigon in London when she was just 18 and she was so articulate. that makes me so proud.
