The first time I watched this was on a borrowed DVD and it was really dirty, or scratched slightly, and it wouldn't play the bar fight. I screamed at my computer, and no one in my house knew why but my dad whose also read the stories.
I'm so use to the use of language today that I had to go back and hear what offended Holmes! lol I enjoy that Holmes immediately picks himself up and takes off his jacket. :)
Nothing I like so much as to see the pugilistic Holmes. The focus, it would seem, is forever on the cerebral. However, Conan Doyle does make it known that Holmes was quite a boxer in his day. Bravo!
Me too, but it is no going to be our usual Holmes, it is a modern version of him... Don't judge it before you see it (I mean the others who bash it) It's like, for example, you would bash on 'The Young Sherlock Holmes' and you didn't even see the movie.
"Only a ruffian deals the blow with the back of the hand, a gentleman uses the straight, left!" (Smack!) "And I sir am a gentleman!"
I've watched quite a few of the videos in the series, Solitary Cyclist, Red Headed League, a few others I don't quite remember the name of, but this has to be the 2nd funniest scene and funniest dialogue of any of the series. The funniest scene was in one that I don't remember the name of, but as soon as I find it, I'll tell you...
I found the scene I was referring to, it was in The Man with the Twisted Lip, the scene happens twice, the one with Nevil hanging out of the window, if you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about...
Holmes is a retired middle weight boxer in the novels. Along with being a former actor on the stage it is just one of his little "secrets". The way he boxes is the way men did during the "bare nuckle" days of the sport.
"It was absolutely delicious, Watson." hehe i really couldnt agree more. that fool had no idea what he was in for when he tried to get one over on Holmes... how very amusing. and since Holmes set it up so he could "act in self-defense" when in reality it was meant as a much-deserved beatdown....
@QuinnthePrincess I can't! I have to at least smile idiotically ever time I just /think/ about it! ...I think it's an almost /evil/ chuckle there, which is really pretty adorable. He's so pleased with himself. =D
xD Omg! I love sherlock! Never really knew he could fight. Like someone else pointed out, acting as a sensitve helpless man. xD And brillant. God, too bad he isn't real T_T

Live out our lives by the Queensberry rules.
