  • Best. Fight scene. Ever... Take him, Holmes. Take him. ^-^

  • It was absolutely de-LIC-ious Watson XD

  • The first time I watched this was on a borrowed DVD and it was really dirty, or scratched slightly, and it wouldn't play the bar fight. I screamed at my computer, and no one in my house knew why but my dad whose also read the stories.

  • Great seen,, but you can see in the beginning that woodley doesn't really strike Holmes xd but giggle is great :D

  • *Fangirls at Holmes fighting and giggling evilly*

  • Ah, at 4:15 there it is! The Dr. John Watson Universal Cure-All: A great big slug of brandy.

  • Pardon me whilst I remove my jacket and open this can of Queensbury-rules whoopass.

  • Gentleman style of fighting, an upper cut to the chin for a quick and efficiant knockout

  • holmes looks like donald duck when fighting..

  • OMG i forgot about this...

    KICK ASS lol

  • ...world's least likely bar fight ...jackie chan and sly stallone would be green with envy of the foot work

  • First point of attack: tap shoulder...

  • The good old days when you could beat the arse off some prat in a public house and not spend the night in a cell lol

  • I love this show, but the fight scenes are terrible.

  • @Lyrictheac Thats what makes it great

  • 这个酒保说话很难懂。

  • you have to love this show man.... I do...

  • I love you thios show man...

  • As always, awesomeness is made cheesy with horrible fighting scenes.

But I still love you, Holmes.

  • "Mr. Woodley was taken home in a cart." LOL! Miss you Jeremy. Thanks for all your great performances.

  • 2 people deal blows with the back of their hands.

  • I'd like to think he gave Woodley a few straight lefts for Violet's honor. :)

  • 'mr. woodley!' 'none of your *amn business'. i didnt get why he made that reply.... o.o

i'm sorry, but his arms moving like that is the most ridiculous thing ever, i must say. i cant help but laugh.

'absolutely delicious, watson!' i smiled and then i thought: wait, what?!

'why do i worry about that word?' 'which word?' 'trap.' why, because its got a delicious double meaning, sir.

'its abduction, murder, heaven knows what.' aliens!!!!!!!!!!! the same ones that built the pyramids, yup.

  • I'm so use to the use of language today that I had to go back and hear what offended Holmes! lol I enjoy that Holmes immediately picks himself up and takes off his jacket. :)

  • who want to hurt such a bieutifull girl on such a fine morning.

    I hope nobody, watson

so why did you bring your revolver holmes ?

I was talking about my not not about my expectations, my friend

    love it~~

  • 2:33, the hand didn't even touch the face

  • 'it was absolutely delicious Watson' lolololol

  • That wicked giggle...PRICELESS!!!

    JB rocks!!!

  • Go Holmes!!!!! =D

  • AHAHAHA! His laugh! Omg! The most adorable and infectious giggle ever! Every time Brett laughs, you have to laugh wih him.

  • I love how they all clap when Holmes beat that pervert Woodley. =D

  • Gotta love the foot work by holmes. Put Em Up, put em up

  • Elementary! my dear Woodley, It was elementary for you.

  • almost as good as the boxing match in the new movie... almost.

  • I love the fisticuffs scene!!!!!! Holmes fighting is awesome!!!

  • Omg, just repeat the video from 4:15 to the end of scene, and watch Watson: he's cracking up through his nose at Jeremy's laugh! Lol, priceless

  • Comment removed

  • lolol he's so proud of himself

  • when mister woodley punches people, he really doesn´t. it is not hard to notice

  • 4:12 Priceless

  • "Lets take this back to the old school

Live out our lives by the Queensberry rules.

    Two fists clenched tight

Two fucking wrong-uns who both think they're right.

    The bigger they are

The harder they fucking fall" - Gallows

Or in this case, we have one Victorian Badass whom we all know to be right and one lecherous "wrong-un" gettin' served.

I love it when he's bragging and giggling about it with Watson.

  • Holmes' laugh! 4:17 Absolutely priceless.

    "Splendid morning, Holmes!"

"Acceptable weather for the time of year."

Sums up both characters pretty well right there.

  • holmes is one fancy stepper! and i liked how one the last punch, he spun all the way around. that's some force.

  • "Stop that horse"

Hey, Watson is a brave Englishman. The Saxons don't back down easily. :)

  • And the coat comes off, and Holmes kicks his ass.

"Only a ruffian deals a blow with the back of the hand."

    Amen.

  • Jeremy Brett as Sherlock is soo hot

    What makes him so hot????

    reaply fellow JB fans!! :D

  • Agreed.

  • Nothing I like so much as to see the pugilistic Holmes. The focus, it would seem, is forever on the cerebral. However, Conan Doyle does make it known that Holmes was quite a boxer in his day. Bravo!

  • "A gentlmen uses the STRAIGHT LEFT!"

    *POW*

"And I sir am a gentlmen!"

    Holmes is an action hero.

  • one of my all time fav scenes... Sherlock does such great honor in the bar fight... LOL...

    a gentleman... indeed.

  • Yeah! Holmes throwing down! Awesome.

  • "It was absolutely delicious Watson" that line is great :)

  • OMG that laugh at 4:18 is simply HILARIOUS!! XDXD

  • xD That fight cracked me up. Especially the scene at 2:52 - Holmes takes some ballett steps and everyone goes "OOooh! Woah!!"

But the straight left was awesome ^^

  • Is there anything better than a hot victorian gentleman beating the crap out of some pervert no life! Me thinks not...

  • @ScarletWilder You said it! So satisfying to see Holmes beating that creep up! *fangirl sigh*

  • All the modular chromatic and diminished movement in this music... I actually get scared.

Like for example, when that unknown bicyclist is following the woman. Oh dear lol :(

  • Man, did that ginger get his ass handed to him

  • i think that was the cutest thing that sherlock did he went home in a cart laugh while drinkin g

  • love sherlock holmes' evil laugh!!!

  • Would be normal if it is - the story is taking place in England, Webley is an English weapon, and the Webley Buldog is designed for conceal carry.

  • The revolver of the solitary cyclist at 7:00 -7:02 - is it a Webley Buldog .32 calibre?

  • I have high hopes for the new movie. It looks awesome.

  • Me too, but it is no going to be our usual Holmes, it is a modern version of him... Don't judge it before you see it (I mean the others who bash it) It's like, for example, you would bash on 'The Young Sherlock Holmes' and you didn't even see the movie.

  • Thats a pathetic fight. No way could you make a guy stagger back with a rabbit punch.

  • haha step off Muhammed Ali, Sherlock Holmes is in town.

Too bad there wasn't a decent fight choreagrapher (sorry if mispelled) back then.

  • is it just me, or is violet wearing the same dress every time she's with the boss without sarah?

  • Holmes: champion fighter.

  • holmes has a deliciously evil laugh xD

  • lol I like how Holmes crashes against the wall and then just proceeds to remove his jacket in a very business-like way

  • 2:32, you don't even see the hand actually hit Holmes :P

But besides that, I just LOVE every Holmes episode played by Jeremy Brett :)

  • great fight :P

great way to sayy i hateyou tbh x

  • *nods*

    "That's right i'm awesome."

    good all Holmes

  • "Only a ruffian deals the blow with the back of the hand, a gentleman uses the straight, left!" (Smack!) "And I sir am a gentleman!"

I've watched quite a few of the videos in the series, Solitary Cyclist, Red Headed League, a few others I don't quite remember the name of, but this has to be the 2nd funniest scene and funniest dialogue of any of the series. The funniest scene was in one that I don't remember the name of, but as soon as I find it, I'll tell you...

  • I found the scene I was referring to, it was in The Man with the Twisted Lip, the scene happens twice, the one with Nevil hanging out of the window, if you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about...

  • holmes is a vulcan or at least related to one sometimes he reminds me of spock he he

  • 2:37 "Aw bitch no you didn't, Imma knock yo silly ass out"

    6:05 "IT"S A TRAP!!"

  • ...and I sir, am a gentleman!

  • Aw, I love how smug Holmes is after "making his point" ^^

  • The bar man looks a helluva lot like Howard Moon from The Mighty Boosh. I'm practically convinced it's him!

  • Sherlock FTW!!!!

  • I like how Holmes says 'Stop that horse'!!! I suppose he thinks that Watson has to be good for something.

  • Poor Watson, he's so abused...

  • Way to go Holmes! Get him!

  • lolll i love the way sherlock fights... its hilarious

  • Holmes is a retired middle weight boxer in the novels. Along with being a former actor on the stage it is just one of his little "secrets". The way he boxes is the way men did during the "bare nuckle" days of the sport.

  • Wow thanks! I never knew

  • You know if you watch English boxers, some of them still have a tiny vestige of that style even today.

  • "It was absolutely delicious, Watson." hehe i really couldnt agree more. that fool had no idea what he was in for when he tried to get one over on Holmes... how very amusing. and since Holmes set it up so he could "act in self-defense" when in reality it was meant as a much-deserved beatdown....

    Final Score:

    Holmes, verbal and physical~ i count 10

the vermin- zip, zero, zilch and nada!

    brilliant >:D

  • Holmes seems so pleased with himself, just listen to that little maniacal giggle!

Tell me you can watch that and not laugh!

  • @QuinnthePrincess I can't! I have to at least smile idiotically ever time I just /think/ about it! ...I think it's an almost /evil/ chuckle there, which is really pretty adorable. He's so pleased with himself. =D

  • @RingSaberWardrobe XD I think even Dr. Watson is trying not to laugh!

  • One can only hope that if one were to be so unfortunate as to get an ass whoopin' that it will be from such a gentleman.

  • "Everybody here will bear witness to the fact that I am acting in self defence."

    Ha! Go Holmes!

  • Sherlock is sooo dam sexy when he fights!! *drools*

  • 4:19 - should be a link now..

  • 4:19^^ hilarious

  • Just like in the book...and like Basil of Baker Street.

  • Quality pugilism.

  • i always loved jeremy bretts interpretation of Holmes as being slightly crazy!

  • 2.20 to 4.05-Great

  • Yes, the fight really is surprisingly good!

  • I LOVE that everyone claps after Holmes beats the red-haired man

  • clifhhanger!

  • LMAO! HE makes Watson stop the horse!!!!

  • holmes is a bare knuckle boxer!

  • Go Holmes! I wouldn't mind having him help me out.

  • weekends? uh..weekends sir.....ah

    Hilarious

  • Everybody had said this but I feel that I have to as well.

    "Stop that horse!"

XD, What, you can beat the daylights out of someone, and yet you can't stop a horse?

  • 5:58 Trap???????

  • thank u for the videos...i luv sherlock holmes....

  • The innkeeper needs Sherlock to show him how to put on a fake beard.

  • go go sherlock!!

  • That's the fakest beard on the Inn-keeper. :-)

  • ♥♥I love Sherlock Holmes' laugh at 4:19.♥♥

  • is that the guy that plays carothers play on robocop 3?

  • "Watson, throw yourself in front of that speeding carriage for me. Good man!" I love it!

  • XD, poor Watson doesn't even hesitate.

  • fancy footwork, does he dance?

  • not as far as we know, but he is reputed to be an expert fencer, single-stick fighter and (as is displayed here) boxer

  • Holmes or Jeremy Brett?

  • holmes. he even mentions himself in one of the books as disliking any sports except those.

  • the best part of the fight is 3:24. he didn't pull that one!

"Only a ruffian deals a blow with the back of the hand. A gentleman uses the straight left! And I, sir, am a gentleman."

"A straight left against a slogging ruffian. Mr. Woodley was taken home in a cart! Mmm-hmmm. Hee hee!" SO CUTE

  • Holmes= HAWT. this is a great fight, I could watch it over and over again! such a showoff!

  • i sir,, am a gentleman :D

    aha i love sherlock :DD

  • the fighting looks so fake!lol so different from todays fight scenes

  • Lool...that´s a funny thought! Though I like Poirot more than Holmes I think their methods are really different.

But yeah, I could never imagine Poirot in a fight!

  • I really pitied Carrufthers in this...He should have get the girl!

  • I've always loved Sherlock Holmes and Jeremy Brett is one of the best.

  • [^_^] that wasn't me! damn! haha, honestly!!

  • Nice fight ,bad style

  • Marquess of Queensbury Rules - the precursor to modern boxing. The style was like that then.

  • No kicking, no biting, no mob fighting.....ah. those were the days. Men could fight respectably.

  • i am only 15 using my

    uncles account

  • Holmes is a boxer

  • xD Omg! I love sherlock! Never really knew he could fight. Like someone else pointed out, acting as a sensitve helpless man. xD And brillant. God, too bad he isn't real T_T

  • I love it when Holmes brags to Watson about the fight! Brett never ceases to amaze me with his comic relief.

  • So why does Holmes fight in pubs when he is alone, but as soon as Watson is around he can't even stop a horse! Playing a defenceless and sensitive man are we Holmes, wonder why!?

  • character, the drunk was off balance and that and a punch sent him flying.

The people in the pub had saw drunken brawlers, but not skilled boxing before. They knew the red haired bastard, and was on Holmes side.

  • Jeremy Brett: The Victorian Chuck Norris.

  • 19th century pugilism is the funniest thing in the world to watch--but damn Holmes kicked some ass in that scene! This was such a great series, and a terrific actor.

  • 2:36 No more Mr. Nice Guy.

Holmes chucking in his brandy glass is so cute. Even Watson smiles and this was the episode where it seemed like Watson couldn't do anything right to please Holmes.

  • that fighting is victorian boxing. it was based upon roman pugilism.

  • weekends...

    weekends?

    week-ends

  • Ghehe ^^

  • Your right, I think that Poirot would have been smart enough not to try & reason with a man who was so drunk!

P.S. I really hope that the blonde girl marries the man with the little girl. The girl and her father both seem to love her.

  • Hercule is not as eccentric or risk-taking as Holmes.

  • Sadly, miss Violet had a fiance named Cyril already...

    Iris,

    sincerely

  • "Stop that horse!"...lol. He always orders Watson around. Seems like every episode he tells Watson to do something...lol. The fight scene is a classic and I love his laugh about Mr. Woodley having to be taken home in a cart :-)

  • :D He couldn't possibly have given the good doctor a hand in stopping that horse, could he? "I'm sorry Watson, but I'm afraid I'm allergic to horses. Besides, I just bought this suit."

  • I know, it's not like Watson's expendable.

  • LMFAO!!!! thats how they fight!!!! i thought that was like only in the cartoons LOL!

  • RE:LMFAO!!!! thats how they fight!!!! i thought that was like only in the cartoons LOL!

i was laughing that hard too, and yeah, i seriously thought they only fought like that in cartoons. but god, he is a GOOD fighter, neva thought id say that because i disaprove veeeeeeery highly of such things. but wow

  • lol BUT ITS SOO FUNNY!!!! how can u dissaprove of pure comic genus! lol

  • i do not know

but they must ONLy do that in victorian times, or that the baritsu tecunique that apparantly holmes knows?? lol!!!

  • why do i worry about that word...trap...

  • it was absolutly delecious watson!!!

  • I love his laugh sooo much!

  • ....when he's fighting! Is he supposed to look that good?

"You language is not appreciated" hee hee

I love how he puts on airs for Watson, checking his wound in the mirror ha ha

  • Holmes is so dreadfully handsome

  • HELL yeah!

    the fight scene is hilarious

i could help laughing at 02:50-03:02

go mista holmes!dude, i LIKE the way he fights, ok, i hate fighting. but his bethods are brilliant!oh my god i melted to teh ground at04:20 with that SMIRK

  • LOL the smirk!
