  • wow

  • cityhood is NOT a good idea...

if East LA couldn't afford the Christmas parade, how can it afford cityhood ?

    VOTE NO.

    search google for :

CJ salgado eastsider Open Discussion: Would a “City of East Los Angeles” make economic sense?

  • There No Place Like EAST LOS...Hubbard st and Indiana st!!! All day Every day!!

  • eastside of the river bitchessssssssssssss

  • Ill take a Chalupa supreme NO onions bitch!......

  • PURO PINCHE EAST LOS

  • I WAS BORN & RAISED IN EAST LA/BOYLE HEIGHTS ND I DONT THINK ITS TIME 4 EAST LA 2 BCOME A CITY OF ITS OWN ALL THAT WOULD DO IS JUST COMMERCIAL THE EASTSIDE OF THE RIVER ND WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE COST OF LIVING WILL GO UP, FORCING LOW INCOME FAMILIES 2 MOVE OUT AND NEXT THE THING YOU KNOW WE'LL HAVE WHITE PPL ROAMING OUR STREETS AGAIN :P

  • I was born in E.L.A i also lived in Montebello i miss the good tacos.

  • @sgf7777777 good for u

  • i love east los!!!

  • dude, that is one of the reasons i love living in L.A., Mexicans are really cool people, plus they are real, oh and im black lol hahaha

  • For a part of LA that has so much chicano power and religious murals I was always so surprised there were and are NO art stores in East L.A. No bookstores and not even a mag stand...

Anyway, this is it? Every image on there is all that defines East L.A. - pride stuck in the chicano power days of the seventies - homies and cholos still exist in 2010. Think about that - the year two thousand ten. What are you so proud of? Markets... sofa stores... taco stands and trucks? Jim's on Whittier?

  • my home town eseee!!!

  • To all the homies from East Los. I grew up in San Fernando and I remember my neighborhood looking like yours. But now gentrification got the best of us and kicked all the raza out. I would love to live in EAST LOS.

  • can you live there with out speaking spanish?

  • you better not come gringo

  • whats that at 19?

  • i live like less than a block away from Garfield on Amalia Ave. East LA is the best! Fuck what people say! They dont know shit! East LA, 323!

  • @ChrisColeRxWxTxFx I was there when it was 213. It was stuck in the 70's then and still is.

  • As long as Gorda Molina (oops!! my bad!! i meant Gloria Molina!) never turns into mayor of the city of East L.A. we'll all be good!! she tried getting rid of the taco stands, what the hell is her problem?!?! other than Cheech & Chong, DeLaHoya, Escalante and Salazar, the taco stands are what makes East Los, East Los!!!

  • dont forget the pillow vendors, orange vendors, day laborors, raspada vendors,& gangs, shes just trying to clean it up i wish they would get rid of all the murals too

  • i hate that fat fuckin slut!!!

  • hell yeah, i fucking hate that fat piece of shit bitch

  • @Ektoree Maybe she was trying to progress that part of LA out of its stupor. Look it up. Stu-por.

De La Hoya lives not in the barrio nor does Cheech and Escalante had problems with the school probably because he wasn't Mexican.

  • How does the white man's ass taste wendileona? you fuckin MALINCHE! If you come to East L.A. and don't see any bookstores and art shops is because art is free. You can't buy it at Wal-Mart. Art is up on the walls because everyone deserves to see it. And yes, I am proud of the Markets and Sofa stores because My family and other hard working families own them. We aren't selling out like other cities, we're just showing our love for our home. You couldn't understand, you don't know where home is!

  • @Ektoree Naw East Los will do fine, at least Cali isn't a facist anti immigration, anti ethnic state like Arizona no offense to people living in AZ just their corrupt government is out of thier minds

  • wow i love my barrio and my raza. sure wish we could all learn to kick it together have some brews smoke a little. clikas dont matter man. maybe someone whos from maravilla you know maybe that persons mom works with the mom of a vato from 13. whatever man we belong to the same culture the same countries the same raza. lets work together not against each other. long live this barrio boyle heights, city terrace, eagle rock, el sereno. long live the eastside baby!!!

  • Wow I remember Whittier Blvd cruising in the late 70s n the 80s I ran a hydraulic shop Andy's back in the 80s....

  • what happen to you shop that contributed to the cholo mentallity

  • As u know lowriding will always b around so hydro shops will 2..most have expanded to selling other car accessories 2....

  • Lowriding will always b around and there r alot of lowriders who r not cholos....

  • @LAgirl4life That's bull. There's no such thing as lowriders with no cholos. There's alway's a tie even if the owner/driver isn't a complete homie. If you see a lowrider who's not, its a poser who paid a lot for the ride.

  • @wendileona U must not be chicana and wouldn't understand U would have to know the culture. I am a perfect example I had a lowrider back in the day and I hung out at clubs in Hollywood nothing chola/homegirl about me so your wrong again and also had a Porche 911 at the same time so you are so mistaken....lol why so many haters

  • @LAgirl4life Oh I know the culture believe me...and it's uh... Porsche not Porche like the ones in your casa.

  • @wendileona I hung out in East L.A. grew up in Burbank and Westwood lol shows how much you know wow such jealous haters Not all chicanos live in East L.A. your not very educated I see well I suggest you go back to school

  • @LAgirl4life Unfortnatley, not all hispanics in East LA are either Chicano or Mexican. Just sayin'.

What was it like in 78 on the corner of Atlantic and Whittier? What stood out for you on a Saturday night? Tell me Chicana.

  • @LAgirl4life porche? mira nomas...

  • What's "maravilla"? Is that gang related?

  • Lived next to Hollenbeck Police station for 20 years. 218 n St Louis Street, went to Sheridan elementary. and then moved to El Sereno. I still remember the day the cops killed Ruben Salazar. That city has a vibe you won't find any were else, the good and the bad. I was in my front yard when they brought in the night stalker. Every one wanted a piece of his ass. He was relieved when the cops showed up.

  • I hope East LA becomes it's own city. The majority of it's citizens want it. The only people who don't want it are the higher powers who pimp off of it's problems for their own gain (anyone say...LA County Sheriffs department?)

  • Nice video and good photos, I still live there.

  • I remember there was an attempt in the 70's to incorporate East L.A. I hope this time it's successful so ELA won't be just another Unincorporated area of LA County. You guys need your own voice and chance to chart your own destiny. Don't cave into the fear tactics of higher taxes like last time. I was just a kid on Leonard Ave. but I remember the late 60's and 70's well.
