For "things on a plate" one should say "a SERVED meal", for "Things in a bowl", one should say "SERVED ice cream, for "things in a cup", "POURED coffee", etc.
Yes, and the reason why some contestants lose it or their concentration is because they haven't quite had their minds attuned to the clue giver's. The key is for the receiver to get a clear mental picture of the clues given to them so they can correctly identify the subject that they're currently on. They could pass, and come back to it if time permitted.
Excellent win! If there's 5 seconds or less left on the clock when a contestant won $10,000 or $25,000 in the winner's circle, that would be considered a close win. I'm glad that the lady won the $10,000.
Two of those categoires were in tournament wins: "Things that were pickled" (used in tournament win #5 with Shelly Smith and Denise Bumbliss) and "Things used by a Sculptor" (used in final Dick Clark tournament with Teresa Ganzel and Carrie Ethridge). I think that Markie gave better clues on those categories.
Yes, I wonder what "Jack's peppers" was referring to. "Peter Piper's peppers" would be great. The best risky clue was from Robin Riker in the 11th tournament: "vinegared cucumbers". My first thought was "acidic cucumbers". For "..a plate", "served dinner" would help and for "..trimmed", "slightly overlong hair".
I thought of the same thing. Unless the judges took "The Main Dish" as being the main entree(which would be consider the same). I think that if Markie said "A Dish" with out "main" then she would have been buzzed. I see your point though.
The reason why Markie did not get buzzed was because the judges took "main dish" as an entree. The lady won the $10,000 anyway, unless there was a judgement call during the commercial break.
Thank you for putting up this video. I have the $100,000 Pyramid show with John Davidson when Mel Harris was a guest star and they show part of this clip when she won $10,000.

That SCULTOP category was used on the final $100,000 win in 1988.

It's strange how the value of some categories
changed... "Used by a sculptor" was a $50 category for one of the tournaments! and a $250 category here!

Good winners circle run there. Most people lose it or lose concentration when they pass on a subject but not these ladies.

Did Mel win anything big on the $20,000 Pyramid? I know she won $500 with Dick Cavett and Tony Randall in a 1979 episode.

Yep. Mel Harris. ;)

I think "Peter Piper's picked peppers" would be fine, but I am not 100% sure. Of course, one could use "Peter Piper's peppers for "things you pick".

"The Main Dish" should have been buzzed. It IS a plate.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...she should have been buzzed when she said "The main dish." A dish IS a plate!
KoopaKid17 4 years ago
The main dish is an entree. She meant entree, so she did not get buzzed.

The time even stay for a few seconds when she hit it.

Yeah, that happened when Richard Mahaffey won the first $100,000 too.
