  • I am what I see,I see you and you see me

hi just post a vid responce to this great poem of your's mate, thank you for the great comment mark, please enjoy my work here at youtube man,you keep shinning on,from sj.

  • nice

  • Thanks for leaving a comment Peter... cheers!

  • Straightforward men miss out on so many things that are free to enjoy. Great poem :)

  • Ain't that the truth! Thank you.

  • neigh there is no end!

  • It is continuwhinnying ...

  • This poem is one of my all time favourites (out of all poetry I've ever heard!) I loved it! =) Going to listen to it again now ^^

  • Wow!

  • Really good poem.

  • Glad you found it, thank you.

  • How many of your videos am I going to have to favourite? ;)

  • Please ...feel free!

  • I seem to have missed this when you uploaded it. Excellent poem, I love your humour. ***** and favourite.

  • Thanks Rowan, I'm glad you enjoyed it. And thank you for the endorsement. Humour is often a good way to make a serious point!

  • Indeed, humour is often the only way to make a serious point.

  • Wonderful! You Are indeed talented beyond measure!

  • Very kind, thank you, delighted that you like it.

  • Excellent. Made me laugh. And how true...

  • Good humour keeps me going! Thanks for taking the time to comment, happy2oblige, it is appreciated.

  • While the "subjective" and "objective" worlds may not always see eye to eye and the landscapes of dreams lay often parallel to that which is projected onto the screen understood as"reality" hopes are borne on the lightest breath of sighs which carry them unseen transgressing with love all static boundaries and while we gaze thinking deeply of nothing but the wind and tree they manifest themselves quietly and shape all that we see as we mature into reality
  • Beautifully put. I consider myself a realistic dreamer, always looking at things from different angles, but prepared to accept that what is, is. Thank you for such a luminous comment, a wonderful counterpoint to my poem.

  • It is my strong belief that this comment section has likely been programmed by a "straightforward man" as it rebels agains poetic form claiming ever that I have overstepped the boundery of 500 words... I move my proper answer to your channel comment page where poems are more welcome...

  • Ah, that never ending disagreement between the romantic and the realist. I'm glad I'm a romantic. great poem my friend.

    Paul

  • All part of the tapestry! Good to hear from you, Paul, thanks for your comment.

  • I'll subscribe to make sure I don't miss it once you've done it!

  • Thorough - I like thorough! Thank you again.

  • Wonderful. You should have your poem translated in sign language, and shot; it would come out beautifully. i can hear you sing when you speak, making your melody visual would be captivating,i 'm sure. thanks for this poem, dashpoet.

  • What a great notion, I've really no idea what shapes a signed version of the poem would make. Brings to mind a Chinese tradition of giving dimension to poetry through the shape and repetition of symbols on the page. That aside, thank you too for your warm comments.

If there is anyone reading this who is able to make a signed video version, I would love to hear from them!

  • you can have a look at edizacorazo channel, she interpretes a song in ASL (american sign language) : "Baiser D'Adieu" by Pauline Croze; From there , no doubt you go further (+ side bar); All the best.

  • I'll have a look, thank you.

  • Thanks for the dedication. Very romantic piece. As more of a clod than a pebble myself, I hear trees speak and hear the sea sing... until that bastard from the last line of your poem yanks the picnic blanket from under me... as happens so many times... It's like your title says. Nice work... smiles to you!

  • I am delighted my poem seems to have struck a chord! Thanks for all, Mark.

  • Really lovely. Love the title and the way you articulate that idea in the poem.!!

  • Your poetry is inspiring, your comments on mine always appreciated and valued. Thank you.

  • You are what you see?

Or you see what you are?

    Yes, says me

    And that is that

    A prat in a hat

    Or not

    Depending

  • A prat in a hat

    is a prat

but a frog in a dog

    can be a dog's dinner

I'm not sure where I'm going with that

but comments like yours are a sure fire winner!

  • Interesting - we listen to our peers, (but we don't have to agree with what they say).

If you have a soul - dream on.

  • Indeed dream I do! Thanks for your comments, and for sharing your poetry as you do.

  • :o)

    Yessir. :)

This is fun.... I especially like it because it has that wonderful conclusive pattern that we used to have read to us as children. Or I did anyway.

This belongs in one of those timeless "Golden Treasuries of Poetry" publications.

  • Glad to bring you some simple pleasure! Thank you for your generous praise.

  • A beautiful poem. I really love how the title fits the last stanza so perfectly well. It felt like a story that was read to me before bedtime back when I was still a princess with a plastic crown. It had a Lewis Caroll quality to it that was magical. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • To evoke the spirit of Lewis Carroll is a fine thing! I love your 'plastic crowned princess' line, made me laugh, so thank you for that, and for the rest too.

  • What a way YOU have with words, Mark. We are grateful that you never listened to the straightforward man. Often, what is literal isn't the truth, the essence, of purpose and experience. Imagination is our salvation. This poem is a lovely gift to your community of poets and friends on YouTube.

  • Imagination certainly sets us apart, sets us on our course of exploration. Sets us up for disappointment too! Thank you for your generous comments, I appreciate your goodwill.

  • love it. favorited.

  • Simply, thank you!

  • It is what it is because... it is.

    Somewhere between dreams and reality.

If I may, I request the captain who is straightforward with crooked back dreams.

This is the kind of captain who could discover the new world.

    5* Dash :-)

  • There is wisdom in your opening line! I do recognize the virtue of accepting things as they are: I know I am guilty sometimes of over-complicating, but ironically in the quest for simple truth!

    Cheers, MrDaMan.

  • love it

  • Great! Thanks for all, Meosha.

  • I'm going to say thanks to you for the dedication! Heh. Understood the sentiment - I have a youtube poem, "Attention Seeking Verb Missile Personality Bomb" which was written from the exact same impulse.

  • You are very welcome. I'm looking forwards to listening to your poem next. Good to hear from you!

  • This is REALLY good stuff Mark........great stuff mate.......my wife and i really enjoy the vids.......

    cheers too you from Canada

    Xavier

  • Great the way that poetry and YouTube both connect. It is very exciting for me to have this contact with people from around the world. Thank you for leaving your comment.

  • Like it :O)

  • Excellent, thank you.

  • Fabulous poem Dash! What one see's and another don't. His loss. Cheers!

  • Cheers Ed - thanks for calling by!

  • a very good poem, thank you - reminds me of "Songs of Innocence" somehow

  • Great to hear from you - thanks for your comment. William Blake - now there's a poet!

  • Thank you, thank you from both of mees. Only you can alliterate prat and poetic.

I always admire your exceptional versatility in verse and the way you communicate the complex with seeming ease.

  • I guess I'll have to settle for dialogue as a definition to this one, unless the tree and sea qualify it for polyphonic! (See, I haven't forgotten the lessons learned!) Thanks for all your input into my poetry and beyond: I love to improve things, to see them get better. With friends like you on YouTube, I have a chance.

  • What fun! Thank you.

  • I am delighted to have met you on YouTube, you are certainly an inspiration. Thank you.

  • I've alway thought trees leaves and the sound of the sea was music to my ears. Aren't we "stumpped" by so called grown-ups far too often. Spirits free, may we fly with both wings and may the wind whistle tunes to us as we fly bye. And to you my friend THANK YOU. A wonderful inspiration and a gift to us you trully are.

  • It is my happy privilege to give what I do. Thank you for the way you have responded!

  • Ahhh... a tree is a tree & the sea is the sea but our imaginations allow us too see so much more. With the songs in your heart and the words from your head you, grant us entry to these new lands, new wonders. Thank you.

  • How dull life would be, without imagination. Also straightforward, I guess. Give me wonder any day! Lovely to receive your comments, thank you.

  • What a wonderful way you have with a phrase,

Said the dreamy old fan to the poet.

    It'd take all my days

To give you due praise --

You're great and I hope you know it!

haha -- bit of a limerick but heartfelt! 5*

  • Fantastic response! Thank you Liz. I love the way we can reach and inspire each other through YouTube, and you have just made the point beautifully.

  • " The sound of your waves

as they play on the shore

    is beautiful music to me"

    Beautiful! I can relay

  • Oh I do like to be beside the sea! Thank you,

    BahenaD, for listening and commenting.

  • CHEERS!

    Denise

  • Love the last verse the most. Great poem. 5*/faved

  • Thank you, David. You were the first, I think, to find my poetry on YouTube. You have been a constant source of encouragement to me, and to many others. Respect, DRC.

  • I loved your poem, but didn't exactly like the last stanza, of course, no poet would, we've all been bitten by that remark. But I do love your poem and take it the way you meant it to be taken. I loved your rhythmic flow and it fit the words so well.

I've always thought of you as very talented, and it is creations such as this that go on proving that that idea is true.

  • Such generous praise, thank you. There is a kind of magic in poetry, the way that words fit and fall into place to form something new. I wonder whether there is a natural limit to the combinations?!

  • That's an interesting question. As you know, in the study of aesthetics, there are proportions and scales that the human mind percieves as more beautiful than others. So maybe there is a limit for us, but imagine in eternity, what it will be like, if we are allowed to go into different forms. The rose to us is inspiration, but to a bee, it is almost a lover. What would a be say if it could write a poem to a rose?

  • I refer you to PoetLina in 'the woof pack' collaboration: 'Buzz buzz a buzz buzz buzzing!'

(Reminds me of another of my poems, Wasps, perhaps I'll post it next. 'Wasps are different from hover flies, wasps are cruisin' lookin' for a bruisin', whereas hoverflies sip and skim ...')

  • Stay dreamy!

It's been wonderful rediscovering poetry! It all started by watching a video response that you posted. Thank you!

  • It is the dreamy that keeps me grounded, ironically, or at least true to myself. I am delighted if I had a part in your rediscovery of poetry - Youtube is certainly a rich seam to mine for it! Thank you for your comments.

  • Ain't it the truth! ain't it the truth!

"And let that be an end to that" is sort of the anthem of the Uninitiated Soul, isn't it?

    Great stuff, mate.

    Roy

  • An easy put-down! I am happy to have met 'initiated souls' such as yourself, through YouTube, that make me stronger and more determined. Thank you Roy.

  • I didn't mean that as a put-down, Mark: certainly not toward you, but also not toward those who poo-poo poetry. I think poo-pooing is something that really is far better than outright dismissal... In fact--oh, hell with it: I can't make myself understood!--what I mean to say is that I understand wanting things to be clear.

(As you might say, Bloody email!)

    Roy

  • I think that the confusion is of my doing! The put-down is that of the 'straight-forward man' in the poem. I should have left it to the poetry to say what it does!

  • Beautiful words dash, Thank you for sharing.

  • I appreciate it Allen, thank you.

  • very nice thank you for sharing

  • In turn, thank you for listening and commenting.

  • I couldn't have said it better. A very fitting tribute. Thank you Mark!

  • A great pleasure, thank you.

  • thanks my friend. how true.

  • You are very welcome - thank you for all.

  • i know that man in the last verse...he was always trying to get me to unscrew my light bulbs...thats good good poetry.

  • I think most of us have met him at some time!

  • i just love that!!!!!!

  • Great, and thank you.
