I served in the Canadian Army ( Airborne) in the 1960's, and have just retired from the US miliary. Every Canadian soldier is combat trained, with many months, if not a year, of Basic Training, in radio, parachute, rocket launcher, misslie etc. The least trained Canadian is on par with an Active Service US Airborne unit. Canada does NOT hire mercenaries ( Blackwater) to protect its troops. The US Special Forces started from the 2nd Canadian Parachute Battalion.

why not join when your 17? thats what I'm doing ... and yeah, run lots, your gonna need it,... my dads in the army and he said that running is one of the hardest things to get passed when you go on basic.

Hey how hard is it in the basic training? is it mostly combat training? b/c that what i'am hoping same with losts of drill and feild and obsucal courses.
Basic training is next to no combat training, however the Soldier Qualification course on the other hand is almost all. BMQ is about handling stress, keeping in shape, learning military mannerism (ex. Drill/salutes), handling more stress, learning to fire the C7 rifle at the most basic level. SQ is where the combat "fun" begins.

And actually right now thier is a combined ISAF force of around 100 000 in Afghanistan.
There is no war in Pakistan yet so that fact was wrong too.
The US also invaded Iraq because of thier nuclear weapons. Sadam had destroyed them 10 years before though.

How many friendly fire incidents has Canada had in Afghanistan ? None so far knock on wood. How many foreign troops have died at the hands of US fighter pilots? MANY. Basic training is next to no combat training, however the Soldier Qualification course on the other hand is almost all. BMQ is about handling stress, keeping in shape, learning military mannerism (ex. Drill/salutes), handling more stress, learning to fire the C7 rifle at the most basic level. SQ is where the combat "fun" begins.
