  • ok, after watching this, replaying the original fallout games, and then looking at the new ones made, developers SERIOUSLY butchered amazing game franchises, just to make them first person "adventure" games i say we all band together, and demand a reboot of the classic games. Microsoft has Shadowrun, and i think fallout is forever lost to Bethesda, and i dont forsee any way to fix X-com, which is a sad shame. WE DONT NEED ANY MORE FPS GAMES!!!

  • Ah fuck. Shadowrun was my favorite setting ever.

If there was an Evercrack-style MMPORG of it, I might actually pay for it, that's how bad-ass the theme was.

  • I finished the Shadowrun from SNES and from Genesis... I didn't knew there was one for Mega CD. (*_*)

    Going to download!

I even didn't knew that Shadowrun was an actual RPG. (O_o)

Discovered that only now, a few minutes ago. (=p)

A shame what they did with the X-Box Shadowrun.

So many ways to improve it... (=\)

  • is there a english version of his game? also should I be saying DMSO?

  • @apex2000

DMSO. Where water pistols meets the post apocalyse. :D

  • @afivey you a player, or a Spoony Fan, or both? (was a fun tale of woe) imagine if someone pitched a movie on shadowrun, but got hung up on a DMSO broken game they had.... yeah it set in the future, and these guys are taking down police + securty with virus + poison filled super soakers, oh and can penetrate armour. The Matrix with Liquid Time. Psssh Psssh.

  • @apex2000

I'm just a player. I've seen the spoonyvid, but that was after reading about DMSO. No one in my group uses DMSO, but mostly because its the kinda crap none of use would want to deal with if we were to GM for the next few runs. Truthfully I've never scrutinise the rules for the squirtgun or the splash grenades, didn't seem important.

  • @apex2000 no english version was ever produced.. officially...

  • Actually, the last game to ever be released on the Mega CD is a game called Surgical Strike, released in December '95. This was released in February '95. This was, however, the last 3rd party Mega CD game to be released.

  • they ruined shadowrun, fallout and now they are turning x-com into a FPS! FUCK YOU!

  • @whitel0tus retard

  • @whitel0tus Agreed. I'm waiting for them to do Tetris: The First Person Roleplaying Shooter.

  • Please...tell me that theirs an english patch for this game, it seems like its the last true offering of a great Shadowrun game.

  • WTF shit is this?

  • I wouldn't mind seeing a shadowrun game based on Fallout gameplay and isometric view.

  • @visionimagify Woah man... you read my freakin mind. It would take a ton of work and modding but it would be a great game. It could be co op too.

  • Cool! I've only ever played the SNES game. How does this stack up to it? Is there an English translation to it?

  • I never heard if this release. I still love the sega and Snes versions of the shadowrun franchise. I was hoping they try revitalizing the series after the fail that was the xbox360 version. Maybe a good company can pick it up like bethesda or bioware. It's fun to dream.

  • @jsv121 I was thinking of a Bethesda version of Shadowrun, what a happy day that would be, look what they managed to do for Fallout!

  • they ruined all the classics and turned them into FPS. Fallout, Shadowrun and now X-COM

  • @whitel0tus There seems to be some love for turning classics into fps. Fallout was still a great rpg though turned from a turn-based rpg to an fps rpg though. Though no surprise since bestheda made the elder scrolls which is an incredible game so...yeah I guess I can't really diss besthesda and their fallout. Especially since the guys from fallout 1 and 2 worked on fallout new vegas and it felt so much like classic fallout just with an elder scroll/fallout 3 engine.

  • @whitel0tus Oh by the way, I know and will fully agree fallout 1 & 2 are better games than fallout 3 and new vegas. I just enjoy besthesda as a company as well.

  • Too much japanese text to read. And looks to have non existang gameplay.

  • the the fool who made it a shooter i hope you die morron

  • @wheezy11959

    yea kill first shooter bastards!

  • @yngvae2 everyone point your guns at microsoft! Shadowrun uses the prototype for halo also! double insult for me! Plus its for the xbox, tripple insult DX

  • Wtf where is the gameplay ? Talking to people / head on the bottom of the screen, is that gameplay ?

  • @moonorc IIRC there is some battles in this games, but it's more in a manner/style of a Visual Novel, which are quiet common and somewhat popular in Japan. Where this was released.

  • this looks horrible,WTF did they do to my favorite sega genesis game!!!!

  • @clone63742 Funfact; All three versions (SEGA Gens/MD SEGA CD and SNES) were done by three seperate Developers in different Continents. (The Gens from USA the SNES from Australia and the SEGA CD from Japan).

  • @anonymouschan that fact is actually quite fun. Wasn't the SNES version worked on by some of the people from Beam Software? I read an interview saying they started working on this right after they did Nightshade.

  • @anonymouschan different gamea?

  • any footage of how combat is done?

  • is this an update to the genesis shadowrun or a new game it looks like snacher to me as there isn't and gameplay really

  • Well that was a waste.

  • i don't think it's a stupid shooter... it's a better multiplayer shooter game than halo, but they missed the target not making it into a single-player or rpg

  • I remember hearing rumor of an OVA made to coencide with the relase of the Mega CD shadowrun.

  • is there an english translate plugin or extension at all for this game? cause i would try it then.

  • @awwfulwaafffle I think there is a fan translation patch by aeon genesis.

  • how do you use that patch sorry im new to this

  • @IPAWNMYQUEENS sorry, I only know how to patch .sms roms... the cds are a whole different animal.

  • i love SNES version so does SEGA GEN , but didn't try SEGA CD of ShadowRun , can't read japan though.. wish there's english version , but unfortunately there's isn't

  • i dont like the snes version but i love the genesis version so much... even so i just found it when i was old and played it on an emulator the the feel everything the dark atmosphere is so awesome, one of the verry best games ever

  • I never hear about this game

  • I wonder if warner bros. had to purchase the license from fasa corporation in order to make the matrix.

  • @Muffinfordinner I severely doubt it since noone paid William Gibson or his publishers for use of the matrix, or cyberspace even though he is credited with coining them so I think they would get final say. From what I know, they don't mind the use of the terms in order to keep the cyberpunk movement going. Besides the whole shadowrun pnp game was made around Gibson's work. FASA just merged it with dnd races and spells to enhance gameplay and story.

  • Snatcher 2? Looks like it.

  • I aint even know about this

  • Is this just a text type game? Or is there side-scrolling like it's predecessor on Sega and SNES?

  • It's a pure adventure game, like Snatcher or Phoenix Wright. It's not really connected to the other Shadowruns except that they share the license. None of them are connected to each other, really.

  • I must have been having hallucinations during the SRPG sections when I played through it then!

  • @kisaknight626 There are also overhead battle scenes similar to Shining Force.

  • is there an english version on mega cd?

  • No. It has only been released in Japanese. And finding a working rom version even for the Japanese version is ultra rare!

  • Wished there was a translation of it, seemed very intresting.

  • I finally broke down and bought this game last year. Pretty badass. Now all I need is Dead of the Brain 1&2 and I can die peacefully.

  • OMG thank you I've been waiting to see this forever

  • Very Cool, we gotta get a long play of this from someone :D

  • That pistol after the katana looks like RoboCop's Auto 9 Armor Piercing Machine Pistol...WICKED...hehe. Ilove the Shadowrun games on the 16 bit systems Genesis & Snes. They were very good if you like dark cyberpunk future RPG games & I highly recommend them to anyone still. Wish they'd make a good Shadowrun game because the one they put out sucked for 360. Should've used the Genesis version as a drawing board...it was perfect.

  • shadowrun on the 360 was a perfect shooter, not a perfect shadowrun game. its easy to say something sucked without actually stating why >.> why not stick to pen and paper , cause its gonna be a long time before a new rpg or game is gonna come out ne way =)

  • I loved the SNES version LOADS but never played the Genesis version. A sequel to the SNES version would be so great.

  • Godamn I would learn how to crack an ISO specifically to translate this game

  • i really wanna play wthis game, but seems to me there's no translated version >.>

  • I think it was on the mega cd in america, not sure. it got a world release on the megadrive and snes though

  • they look like king of fighters characters lol

  • Is there any actual gameplay with this shit?

  • Yeah but it takes a while to get to it. There's shitloads of dialogue.

  • what is this mega cd that you speak of.. Ive never heard of it?? is this a jap system or something?

  • Mega CD is the Japanese and European name of the Sega CD, an add-on device for the Sega Mega Drive.

If you want to know more, look for Mega CD in Wikipedia.

  • cool.. I had the sega and the cd add on. It was pretty cool at the time.

  • i dont believe you. you had sega cd but have no idea what mega cd is?

  • believe it my rice eating friend... Im not Japan or the middle east.

  • its a cd addon for the genesis sadly it sucked but it was better than the shitty 32X.

  • They had a potential to make Shadowrun as better as it ever was. But they turned it into a stupid shooter. We have enough shooter games these days.

  • Damn straight. I wish they'd made it like a Windwaker or Ocarina Of Time kind of game. There really aren't any games made in that style that are set in urban atmospheres like Shadowrun, would have been a good way to do it I think.

  • @NeoToasty Quit pining for isometric - it's not going to be brought back by mainstream developers. It probably could have been good if they'd actually stuck to the source material a lot more closely. As for gameplay, I never got the chance to try it out.

  • @NutNapalm Gameplay wasn't great for the FPS Shadowrun. The developers, btw, are huge fans of the original Shadowrun franchise who want to put together a fully functional action-RPG called Shadowrun, but at the time of building the FPS they didn't have the required talents to pull it off. They didn't want to ruin the image of Shadowrun with a half-assed RPG... so they did it with an FPS I guess haha.

  • @AltLocks Actually, the gameplay WAS great. In fact, I would absolutely call it the best FPS MP this generation. Of course, the people that 'dislike' it don't actually know a damn thing about it, not really. It had more styles of play, more depth of gameplay than basically any other shooter out and it would be impossible for anyone to prove that incorrect. You simply have to spend some time with it to really understand this. Or they're just really desperate for another overrated Shadowrun RPG.

  • @UltimateHigh This is true, I retract my previous statement. The depth definitely added a lot to an otherwise generic FPS game. Unfortunately, I must admit that my bias probably stems from my love for the original Shadowrun games, as well as the fact that I only had the opportunity to play the game a few times over the course of a couple months before I had time to sit down and try it by which point I had a new game that held my interest =X

  • @UltimateHigh ...what overrated Shadowrun RPG's? None of the 3 "real" (ie developed under FASA's watch) Shadowrun games were exactly hard an heavy hitters, critically or commercially.

  • @UltimateHigh even if that FPS reboot had good gameplay, the fact remains that it is not Shadowrun, their was none of that Cyberpunk atmosphere, it needed to be more of an immersive experience... like Deus Ex.

  • @1shoryuken

And not to mention that the 2007 Shadowrun game had nothing to do with the RPG. A new story was created from scratch. It was Shadowrun in name only.

  • @NeoToasty The best people that could've made a Shadowrun game are Bethesda.

  • @NeoToasty Ah, but they didn't THOSE days.

  • @NeoToasty - Indeed. But fret not my dear runner! We can cross our thumbs in hope that the new browser based (horror moment already) Shadowrun Online is made true to it's content and all <3

  • This looks FUN. Is it better than Snatcher?

  • Anime and Shadowrun combined, a perfect combination IMO ( and yes played both snes and genesis versions, and loved them). Man, i wish somebody translates this game :(

  • @MikDrone shadowrun and anime combined? are you on drugs kid?

  • i thought the sega cd died out before 1996

  • Dude... I've had this ROM/ISO for what seems like forever now. Over the years I have been hoping someone would make a DeJap so I could play, and I'm still waiting. Anyone know where I can find one?

  • I'm in the same position and its a real shame because this might just be the best of the 16 bit games. Only thing I've found was some text file to help with the menus, shouldnt be hard to find via google.

  • @a1rh3add i dunno but if you find it tell me to , shadowrun rocks specialy shadowrun for sega

  • @a1rh3add

If u have been waiting for so long it might have been faster to just learn japanese then, im sure given a couple of years ul be able to know enough to understand most games ^^

I myself am learning right now, I can understand a lot verbally but the writing is a pita :P

  • @xSS4x Faster, not easier. What if he spent 2 years learning Japanese and the game turned out to be shite?

  • @Seladoor Well thats what i said, faster, if he started way back then he'd be closer now and even if the game turns out like shit learning a new language is rarely a bad thing as it opens up more opportunity in life.

Not to mention all the Japanese game that never gets localized that u can enjoy as well :P

  • @a1rh3add why not mod your Genny/MD & Sega/MegaCD to play all? There exist wonderfull mods where the need for switches has been altered, and you use the reset-button to switch between region and PAL/NTSC, a modified 3-region BIOS in your M/SCD and you can play them all!!

There's a chance that the game already is bi-langual.

  • This looks awesome. Nice intro. The gameplay reminds me of Snatcher, how it has a graphic-novel feel to it. Looks like you do a lot of reading, which is cool.

But what's all this anime shit doing in a Shadowrun game? There's a bunch of metrosexuals and some teenaged-loli that has a depressing look on her face. These people don't even look like they fight; looks more like they're all hair stylists.

The ambience in the city sounds like some weird-ass chanting.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • was this ever translated into english?

  • That's awesome! Wish I knew Japanese.

  • Exactly what does this capture? You see a picture of a katana and something that looks like a circuit board and they "nailed the mood?" This looks like ass! the opening's just a bunch of dialogue options you have to scroll through, un-fun in any language. And there's no animation, just some still shots.

I love Shadowrun, but this could've been anything.

  • It's set up like a graphic adventure but there's more to it than that, the battles play out like the shining force games and there are cutscenes here and there. I don't know japanese but I could still get pretty far into it and it seems really good.

  • Never released in the USA huh?

  • I don't think it was released in the US for the Sega CD. Straight-upDOTinfo

  • oh wow

I'd forgotten how badly I wanted to see this game.

Do you have any gameplay footage, how battles are handled?

  • I'm pretty sure the game is turn-based, but it's been awhile since I've looked up stuff on it.

  • I remember seeing shots of this in a magazine when it came out. I was a big Shadowrun fan and i wanted this game so bad! Thanks for posting the movie! I think they really nailed the mood of the Shadowrun setting. The game is very reminiscent of Blade Runner and Neuromancer in that its the future, and its awesome and distopian, but there are so many familiar things (regular bar, busy city streets) to ground it in reality. It makes it feel plausible. That's what I always loved about Shadowrun.

  • there any translations for this game??!!!

or is it too hard to make a translation for a sega cd game?

  • i am shocked, to me this fails to grip the shadowrun universe. no meta's no bladerunner visuals. i am glad i never played it and i am a hardcore shadowrun fan

  • why would you want it to be a carbon copy of blade runner visually?

  • I love shadowrun, the pen and paper, the books, the snes and genesis but in my opinion this game fails to grasp the shadowrun mythos. to cater to eastern tastes probably. i want to like it but there is no meta's or blade runner esqe visuals glad i never played it

  • can someone translate this game plz :-(

  • He is going to pay them 4000 Nuyen and wants them to assassinate a bald Jedi... Maybe?

  • Wow. A beautiful game! Was it ever translated to English??

  • thank you so much for posting this. I've been waiting over 10 years to see gameplay footage of the Sega CD version.
