  • can this option sync with the nova delay by tc electronics? the nova delay has the option to to dial in the exact tempo, it would be nice to have that same option for the shape shifter since i play to track and click..

  • Awesome video man, if I was doing this mod I but a mini toggles somewhere so I could have the original "powersave mode" and your "always active" mode.

  • what jack did you use for the tap tempo out jack?

i've attempted to mod it myself but i have a problem with it.

when the jack touches the metal casing of the pedal it doesnt work but when it is outside of the casing it works perfectly fine.

  • @thricex05 Swap the wires on the jack. One of them is grounded inside the pedal; this wire needs to be connected to the outside pin on the jack because the pedal casing is also grounded.

  • oh wow. such a small error makes the biggest difference. thanks a lot.

  • WOW!! I have this pedal too and I love it, but it barely gets used cuz of the crappy tap switch they put on it. Be expecting my business very soon.

  • WOW! I love this trem too, but i barely use it cuz of the crappy tap switch they load it with. Be expecting my business very soon.

  • would you be able to do the same with the new Deja Vu by

    Seymour Duncan?

  • Yes, a lot of the same enhancements could be done on the Deja Vu pedal or other tap delay pedals like the Nova Delay from TC.

Does the Deja Vu allow you to tap the tempo when the effect is off? That is the biggest issue with the ShapeShifter.

  • im not exactly sure, but i would assume it doesnt just like the Shape Shifter.

that's what i really want: tap tempo while it's bypassed. I don't exactly need an external tap input, but either way you're a genius

  • I have a boss dd-5, with an external tap tempo. how would I sync the shape shifter and dd-5, like you said you do in the video? do I need a tap tempo with multiple output jacks or what?

  • I was using a DD-5 myself, great pedal.

Yes, you'll need a tap pedal with multiple outputs, or get a 1/4" mono Y cable male to dual male.

  • do you know where I can get a tap pedal with multiple outs? or would it be easier to just get a Y cable?

  • Probably easier and cheaper to get a Y cable; check musicians friend or radio shack. I think Hosa makes one that would work. Or you can make your own if you or a friend is handy with a soldering iron.

  • We can make you a tap pedal with dual outputs, but it would probably be around $35. Send us a note through the roanTone website if you're interested in going that route.

  • I'll let you know when I'm ready to order one.. if that's the way I go. I'm limited to space on my pedal board. so after I get the pedal itself, I'll see how much room I have. I bought a y adapter thing for right now though. thanks.

  • great mods!

  • do you guys ship to the U.K. ? what kind of pedal would i need for the tap tempo ?

    much love ToGaS

  • Yes, we ship worldwide. International shipping is $30 extra.

For the external tap you can use any momentary/non-latching switch such as the Boss FS-5U. Or make your own tap pedal with a momentary switch from Carling. This type of switch is sometimes referred to as OFF-(ON).

  • Hi, I did a very basic mod on mine, just replaced the clunky tap switch with a different push to make switch. I have always wondered if you could mod it so you could tap tempo whilst the effect was not engaged (like my cusack modded zvex ooh wah) and came across your video. Wow, really cool. I will definitely have to look into syncing all tap pedals together as well, reckon that could be amazing. Cheers for cool video!

  • Totally sweet. Nice work, roanTone!
