Hondas are good transportation, not race cars. 2011 Civic Si, (highest model) basic options, manual trans.15.2 sec 1/4 mile (my 1990 mustang is faster with very few mods) and costs $22k. 2011 Mustang v6 (smallest engine, lowest model) basic options, manual trans. at 305 hp should be about 13.5 sec or so. (heavier 315 hp v8= 13.5 sec), at $22k. Btw, Mustang has a very updated suspension, and we're talking about street driving, not on the track, so handling isn't an issue. So, why buy a Honda?

If the American companies put the tuning effort into their engines like they were supposed to you would probably be rolling off the line with 500hp stock. Last I checked honda is one of/the world leader(s) in HP/liter.

Although you're right, the first few years of the new gt500, the hp was more like 480-490. Of course, the gt500's engine responds very well to mods, and you can pick up an extra 40 hp or so with a cold-air kit, and a flash tune, which is unheard of for most cars
