i just got one for christmas!!! =D I'm stoked man, my first shotgun, it jammed thef irst shot which i was kinda worried about but we fixed it shot like another 100 rounds no more jamming and i freaking LOVE ITTTT Mossberg 500
@Axion3812 I have a Maverick which is a cheaper version, many parts and accessories are interchangable, Never jammed. Maverick is like how Rustler is made by Wrangler, made by Mossberg.
heres a shooting tip for you free of charge, when standing up to shoot, when you shoulder your gun, you are only accurate for the first 6 seconds, if you don't get a shot off within 6 seconds, relax your self, put the gun down, and reshoulder the gun.
wow....Jeff i'm looking at this saying no way that's you till you hear your voice. You are lookin 100 percent better now you got some weight off. Man what a difference!
@hdevonxz2 unscrew the barrel. turn the shotgun with the stock pointing up and shake it, if that doesnt work load shells into the gun while the barrel is still off, then it will push the limiter plug out of the magazine. there should be 2 rubber rings around the stick to secure it in place. so dont yank it out hard
Just watched your film. This will be me in a matter of days, getting my new Mossberg 500. Here in the UK I can only have 2+1 capacity. Guess we're too dangerous with more. Mines a synthetic black, 28", 3"...can't wait.
@dmanwhocan I have the same one...but I put a spec ops stock&forarm on mine....you do know that you can take the wooden stick out of the load tube which allows you to hold more rounds ,mines hold 7 +1 and 8+1 if i'm shooting slugs
so how do you like the 500? i run a 870 and i lov it. you do any transition from 00B to slug at all? it kinda sux in a 500. but nice vid have a good 1
@cutlerylover OK, good! Next time shoot faster. Acquire the target quickly, and shoot!! Don't take so long to aim the shotgun. Shotguns are not AIMED, they are POINTED!! You took WAY too long to shoot. You would have been shot long before you got off a round. Practice rapid-target acquisition, and firing. OK Private Pyle!!
@hammer555551 you aim all guns if you think a shotgun is a scatter gun your just another guy who doesnt know much about guns, even with birdshot the pattern at 10 feet is within a foot...secondly this was my 1st time shooting a shotgun, watch more recent videos search cutlerylover mossberg
@cutlerylover LMAO!!! I've been shooting, hunting, and killing for 53 years. I've forgotten more about guns than you'll ever know, Porky!! You POINT a shotgun. The only time you would AIM a shotgun is if it has rifle sights, as in a deer slug special. If you want to know anything about guns, let me know. In the meantime, lay off the La Sagna!!
@cutlerylover Old fool!! Why you lard-ass, I could probably outshoot, outrun, and out-do you on just about anything!! Hey, ya' know they got stuff named after you in the super-market.............PORK BUTTS!!!!
@hammer555551 for an old fuck you lack originality that comment could have come from one of the many 12 year olds on here...So Ill assume you lack wisdom as well...thanks for watching, enjoy the rest of your day
@UNIONPACIFIC1 Mossberg has a thumb safety on top of the frame. Remington has a button safety behind the trigger guard. I like Mossberg because you can visually see if the safety is off when you are aiming. Also with the Mossberg you cannot pinch your finger loading shells (elevator stays up). It has an aluminum alloy receiver which is lighter. Remington is steel. Remington is slightly more expensive but doesn't really have any advantages except for people used to its controls.
@RWT683 So this message is for the both of you so i will be sending this to the other guy that commented xXxChupxXx so what shot gun do you have mossberg or remmington i saw cutlerylovers vid on the safety problem and its a bit discouraging to get the mossberg because of it.
@UNIONPACIFIC1 I changed the stock on my Mossberg and did not have the safety problem. It's probably related to using a 3rd party stock. If it bothers you get the Remington, but you should not really rely on a manual safety anyway because they can fail on almost any gun. Like Chup said the best thing for deciding is to handle both in the store.
@UNIONPACIFIC1 Both are solid dependable guns. Both have readily available repair parts and aftermarket add-ons. You can not make a wrong choice between the two. Only way to tell which is for you is to go try them on and see what fits. Work the pump and safety. Feel which trigger and stock your hands mold to easily. Pull each up to line of sight see which aims more naturally. Try do feel both in the same day so its fresh in your head.
wow i been watching alot of your new videos and just watched this, you look so much thinner in the newer videos :D Congrats dude, keep up the good work ^-^
Dude, rent a video! Loading under the receiver with your left hand? How long do you what to wait while aiming a "SHOTGUN" before the perp gets the edge on you???
Dude, rent a video! Loading under the receiver with your left hand? How long do you what to wait while aiming a "SHOTGUN" before the perp gets the edge on you???
Cool video, I too en a mossberg 590. It's a perfect shotgun for home defense and it also comes drilled and tapped to add a scope or whatever you want. I personally wouldn't use a bird shot because of the splatter. I have mine loaded with 00buck. Also have slugs and 3" 00 super magnum but I have them on the side saddle. I would never use slugs for home defense because of the power behind the round and not to mention it will keep traveling and prob stop at your neighbors. Just saying.
@smlemk42 even at 15 feet the shot pattern is tight, no more than 8" or so with OO buck, people think a shotgun is a scatter gun so you cant miss, that couldn't be further from the truth

this or the remington 870?? please tell me which is better, I'll be buying one soon. also do you need to change the choke going from slugs to 00 buck to bird shot? how do I know what choke to use? sorry for all the questions, any help would be appreciated, I'm looking to get my first shotgun soon. thanks
@joepesciscat who's the lame one here , that guy has done nothing wrong and u asult him , well the it's more than fare that he returns u the favour ....
@eastofakron2 i whent to a few different stores and messed with the 500 and the remington 870. the mossberg just felt cheap and poorly put together. it wobbled and clanked around while the remington 870 felt very solid and well built. ide trust my life to both of them at any moment, but if i were to get one it would be the remington 870. ime sure the mossberg is great but it just bothered me.
I LOVE ANYONE THAT LIKES FIREARMS........ my old man just bought that mossberg. annnnnnd I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! we just bought a case of ammo (number 2 heavy field load) so ill have somethin ta do tomorrow. Thunder Bay gets so friggen cold tho....... this video gets a "like"
i fired my first shotgun round about two weeks ago and i loved it.
by the way, i dont know if you can add this but try to get a kind of cap that reduce the kickback my shotgun had one and i fired like two boxes under the week without having any pain in my shoulder.
hey great video....I just bought my first shot gun and was worried about the kick, watching you gave me more confidence to go out to the gunrange and try it out.
That's a nice shotgun. Hoping to get one myself reasonably soon. Not sure if one would be allowed a pistol grip in the UK however, but it does make it look like sex in a gun though :) I'd be shooting clays or 'skeets' as they say over the pond, you reckon this would be practical with the M500? I'm quick on the cycle shall we say...
@dmanwhocan They sell a version with 2 barrels, one long(hunting/target) and one short(home defense). Its the same price, but only has a 5 round capacity. The security model(the one shown here i think) has an 8 round capacity, but only comes with the short barrel.
I just bought a new Mossberg 500 and can't wait to get it to the rifle range and try it out. That was sure a broad pattern for bird shot at 15 yards. I am going to fire some bird shot and 00 shot also. I bought my shotgun mainly for personal safety at home, but I think I may keep it loaded with bird shot. If it is dark, if I just aim the gun in the general direction of anyone trying to break into my house, I am bound to hit something.
looks like you didn't mind the recoil one bit. i'm new to shotguns and rented the 870 and a nova (they didn't have any mossbergs). remington was fine but that benelli killed me for some reason. i guess you get used to these things
@salemhodson you didn't state what gauge you shotty is; assuming it's a 12 gauge-try 2-3/4" shells with the smallest 'dram equiv' number you can find [that's the propellant compared to black powder] ; look for the smallest amount of shot you can find [1oz or 1-1/4oz]; [not as important] a shot size of 7 or 8 should be fine, .. Also, steel shot tends to have less recoil than lead. I'm no expert, but this is what I've learned- hope it helps!
I own a 500 w/ 28" barrel and wood stock. Never had a problem with it after about 1000 rounds now absolutely worth the money. I like the 20" Synthetic though with the right accessories it can look mean. You should try putting the camera behind your shoulder so we can see the shot hit the target, as you shoot. Good video though dig the gun.
A Mossberg 500 was my first gun. Lightfield sabot slugs are perfectly tuned for deer hunting and are accurate to 100 yards with the 2.5x scope that came with the gun.
It also takes a wide variety of ammo with the non-rifled barrel. I prefer Remington 00 buckshot for home defense.
Have you had any problems with the stock? My stock came loose after the first 100 shots (birdshots). I thightened it. Then I shot about 200 birdshots (during one year). Suddenly yesterday my stock came really loose when i was shooting. When i removed the stock the stock bolts flat washer was bent really badly causing the stock to come loose. Have you had any problems with the stocks washers?
@iamaGod357 because he is shooting #7 birdshot which are little recoil. I didn't see the brass on the rounds but target loads usually dont have much powder and kick less. plus his stance is good. you can pretty much control the recoil with your stance alone. keep your feel at shoulder length, weak leg forward, and lean into the shot.
I have the same shotgun, Mossberg 500 Persuader. As you know, but others might not, persuader is a mossberg 500 with blued barrel, 20.5" barrel, and its a 7+1 shot. I like the gun and all, but i wish i got a parkerized 590. Some reason the 590 holds 1 more shell than the mossberg, and its the same length barrel. Its also slightly more durable, and only around 50 more. Id trade my gun up for one, but its the first shotgun i bought, and i dont want to get rid of it..sigh..
irthedunecat. i am sorry for my comment. you are right i am a troll. that was wrong on my part. please accept my apology. i recently lost 60lbs. you reminded me of how i had let myself go. please take care of your health. sincerely yours.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

put a polly choke on it and wow that kicks less then my noble 40a shotgun ... kicks like a horse
MegaCramer1 1 year ago
hey great video....I just bought my first shot gun and was worried about the kick, watching you gave me more confidence to go out to the gunrange and try it out.
fdeadhead 1 year ago
@fdeadhead You tend to find more kick in synthetic guns, because they are generally lighter, thats why i would prefer a wooden stock and forestock.

wow whatta spread mine is about 5-6 inch from 20 -25 yards
rockinfaceplant0000 1 year ago
That's a nice shotgun. Hoping to get one myself reasonably soon. Not sure if one would be allowed a pistol grip in the UK however, but it does make it look like sex in a gun though :) I'd be shooting clays or 'skeets' as they say over the pond, you reckon this would be practical with the M500? I'm quick on the cycle shall we say...
dmanwhocan 1 year ago
@dmanwhocan They sell a version with 2 barrels, one long(hunting/target) and one short(home defense). Its the same price, but only has a 5 round capacity. The security model(the one shown here i think) has an 8 round capacity, but only comes with the short barrel.
MrChunkylover53 1 year ago
@dmanwhocan m500 is more of a home defense gun
stangsaleens7 1 year ago
@stangsaleens7 In certain configurations. Lots of M500s have long barrels and wooden stocks and are used for hunting.

If it is dark, if I just aim the gun in the general direction of anyone trying to break into my house, I am bound to hit something.

cutlerylover, is this a Mossberg 590? nice looking shotgun. how does it feel to shoot?

tnc07232008 1 year ago
looks like you didn't mind the recoil one bit. i'm new to shotguns and rented the 870 and a nova (they didn't have any mossbergs). remington was fine but that benelli killed me for some reason. i guess you get used to these things

Good video though dig the gun.

get a pistol grip on that thing!!!!! nice gauge
arexp909 1 year ago
A Mossberg 500 was my first gun. Lightfield sabot slugs are perfectly tuned for deer hunting and are accurate to 100 yards with the 2.5x scope that came with the gun.
It also takes a wide variety of ammo with the non-rifled barrel. I prefer Remington 00 buckshot for home defense.
Great video!

Glad you like the 500! That Persuader 7+1 you have is the most popular model these days.

Have you had any problems with the stocks washers?

how come theres like NO recoil?
iamaGod357 1 year ago

Id trade my gun up for one, but its the first shotgun i bought, and i dont want to get rid of it..sigh..
zainaku 1 year ago
@zainaku I dont think the 590 is more durable,There the only difference is the hold more longer barrel maybe a bayonet slug!

give me a break. look at you 400 lbs and you need a shot gun to protect yourself...just sit on them and crush the enemy. food is your enemy ...push your self away from the table.
