Is there much of a difference flying the 3GX instead of the 3G? I found a good price on a 550 3G but don't want to waste the money if the 3GX is much better. Thx.
Wow cruddbucket, that was a great idea for a video! I loved it! I am a real noob to helis' and just bought the Phoenix sim and intend to practice a lot for a couple months and save for my first CP. I have heard that it is better to learn on a bigger heli because they are so much more stable. Would I be OK with a Trex 450, or 500 or do you think I would benefit more from the 550? I can afford to crash more with a 450. HaHa. Thanks in advance for the help and the great video!
@boobtube1974 Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it! I think you would benefit more from a 550E size helicopter as your first heli. I normally recommend this over the smaller helicopters because of a few reasons. They are more stable in the air, easier to work on (not so fiddly) and they utilize 6S 5000mAh packs which are usable in the larger helicopters (gotta plan for the future! :D). It is actually not that much more expensive to repair after crashing you will find. Cheers!
Thanks for reply :D Well so I will definitely get one for myself but not now since budget is an issue hahah. Anyway, thank you and Merry Christmas to you, and happy flying as always.
Hello there! Man I love your vids so I have just subscribed your channel. Awesome works so far :D I have a question do you think a Trex 550E is a good heli to practice as well as progressing toward 3D flying. I am currently capable of a stable hover, inverted, some tic tocs, aileron tic tocs with no problems. I am now flying an E flight 450 3D heli and planning to jump straight to the Trex 550E for my future heli. Since the Trex 550E looks sick, do you recommend it to me? Thanks very much.
@BaoThyForever1991 Hey mate, thanks for the comment! The 550E is definitely suitable for learning and advanced 3D flying. I think you would like it a lot and benefit from practicing on a larger more stable helicopter. Cheers
hello nice flying! I want to move up to 550 from a 450.Im flying a trex 450 pro using DX6I.Can I use the same 6ch radio or I need 7ch for the 550?? please help.thanks.
@thedoorsbiggestfan Hello, it is my understanding that you require at least 7 channel radio to be able to use the 3GX flybarless controller. This channel is used for gain. Cheers
Hey people of youtube - stay tuned/subscribe to see my next helicopter time-lapse build. It is going to be a Mikado LOGO 600 with all the bling :) yeeeehawwwwww!!!
@Leeroy2782 You got it man! champion - real eye for detail :) I didn't affix the satellite receivers to the 3GX because the leads supplied were 24 inches long. lol. Cheers
@cruddbucket Thanks man I watch it a few times and payed close attention! Lol, I have bought one of these 550 and in the process of building it up! A quick question do you have your throttle trim tab all the way to its lowest point or is it centred when you set up helis? Cheers
@Leeroy2782 Haha good work :) . With regards to your question - I do not use any throttle "trim". I set throttle curves in normal mode, idle 1 and idle 2 to flat zero, disengage motor pinion from main gear and remove main and tail blades. Got to be extremely cautious when setting up! . My throttle hold value is also set at negative 5. Is that what you were after? cheers
@cruddbucket So your Throttle trim tab is set to its lowest point (Low stick) in all flight conditions not centred? the reason i ask is that im reading through the 550e manual and it states in the SETUP PRE-CHECK 3. "the trim must be zero when using 3GX and should not be adjusted at anytime" I have a DX6i so i keep elevate, aliron and tail trim tabs all at centre (Mid stick) with throttle do just move it all the way down? (low stick) cheers
@Leeroy2782 Ok, the align manual is bad 'Engrish". Simply put I have my collective stick (throttle stick) at the midpoint (50%) exactly. All the points I brought up before are in place to prevent accidental spooling up of the drive train.
While my stick is centered, my pitch curve is set to 0-25-50-75-100. This means that when I am at mid-stick, the main blade pitch is set at zero degrees, and from then I can adjust all of my servos and linkages to the corresponding angles and center points
@cruddbucket Cheers i just work it out... i thought the throttle trim tab would affect the Pitch of the blades while in idle up(But it doesn't the throttle trim tab ONLY affect the Throttle), therefore thats why i thought the throttle trim tab should be in mid stick position. Hope to see some more 3D flights vids of your 550e Cheers man..
@pofrani Haha! mate you will love the 550E it is fun to build, and I test flew it today. It flies amazingly well! so much fun and the 3GX performed very well :D I am uploading a video of the flights now so check back soon to see how it rips! cheers
dude awesome vid... love the music ... i see in yer future the 600e ... lol hell im thinking bout getting the 600e and the 550 and matching canopies ... what do yu think of the 3gx and are thye maiking the sgx for bigger birds ... did that thing come with a hastle gate . lol ICE.. lol
@cutter043 Thanks Chris glad you liked it! they're good fun to build. First impressions of the 3GX; looks like a nice little unit, very easy to setup, has some good features.. it's a bit of a pain to connect to computer still though as there is no mini usb port like the V-bar :( but I'll have to get back to you on flight performance - I'll try and get a video up soon. Hopefully take it out for it's maiden today :D cheers eh
@sborn1571 Thanks mate, end of year I will be making another ultimate helicopter, just not sure what to get yet, it will be 700 size or maybe 800, could be a Mikado or Gaui X7.. we'll see :) thanks

@jeb19741000 Yes there is a huge difference if you are flying 3D style. If you intend on basic flying around, then it will be ok. Cheers
