@Melodicryan Have you even heard an Insomnium song?? they may not sound exactly the same, but that would defeat the purpose of having separate bands. They're the same genre and are from the same country, therefore they're gonna have similar influences. Enough characteristics are common in both bands that most people that like one will also like the other. Personally, I prefer Insomnium. I like their lyrics better and there's a bit more emphasis on the melodic part of "Melodic Death Metal".

All the other songs sound almost like they sat there and said "ok, these songs are gonna be filler." I feel like, with OG, you can listen to the whole album and get excited for each song instead of skipping to the ones you want to hear. I still love Amon Amarth though. haha

i was sort of bummed, too. the redshift moved me, and this album kinda bored me. one of the main things missing from this album is the amazing leads and solos present on the redshift.

Anybody else kind of bummed about this album? I pretty much love "Soul Journeys" and "Ego" (except for the slow part in "Soul Journeys" and the ridiculously out-of-place guitar solo in "Ego"). Also, the title track is pretty good. But, the rest of the album seems pretty humdrum. For example, the main riff in "An Infinite Mind" must be what it sounds like when a musician rolls their eyes out of boredom.

I loved Red Shift and Spirits and August Light, so maybe they'll return to form next time.

This is what I love about metal. There are just so many good bands, but it's easy to not hear about a lot of them. So it seems like every day I find a new band that I love. Then I feel stupid because I wonder how the hell have I not heard of them. Great band. I've pre-ordered the new CD, and I can't wait.

God damn Dan Swano sure knows how to get the job done! This sounds absolutely killer production wise, as well as the songwriting. I'm more of an old school death guy and evil sounding twisted shit along with funeral doom, and few melodic death albums can entice me. Needless to say that OG have managed to surpass my expectations in every way. Truly moving art guys, keep it up!!! Also gotta say I love this vocalist's unique style, a good sense of masculine beauty.
