  • Just finished watching this movie. Amazing movie!

  • I got an adrenaline rush from this film and almost passed out- lol :/

  • Like if you cryed at the end of the movie when shes all he never shys away from the sword :)?

  • The best video I've seen on youtube that captured what we emotionally experienced back when Secretariat won the Triple Crown in the 1973 Belmont is -"Secretariat A Moment of Eternity". What he did that day was the only supernatural athletic performance ever recorded. Almost 40 years later...and no athlete has ever come close to that magical day we witnessed. Still brings tears to people's eyes.

  • A beautiful thing, he was. A champion. But the thing is, he didn't do it because he was striving for glory, fame, or money. He did it because he had a heart to run, and legs to support that. And we all think he shouldn't have been put down. But at 19 years old, that is like him being 57. That might not be a super ripe old age, but it can still be hard on a older horse to cope with injury. He was perfect. A wonderful stallion who sired many grand horses. This movie shows that.

  • Secretariat had the great honor when he died to be buried WHOLE most horses dont get that oportunity

  • i <3 secretariat

  • Favourite film EVER!!!!!:D

  • Secretariat was an amazing horse. But I can't help feeling bad for Sham. If he had been racing another year, he would for sure have won the Triple Crown. ;)

  • just finished watching this a few minutes ago. One Word: Ah-ma-zing. Inspiring as well.

  • @LoveLiveJump - Because no one thought this could be possible. What horse have you ever known to finish a race 31 lengths ahead of everybody else?! Not only that but to start dead last and fight his way through the pack to the top? Its unimaginable!

Not only has Secretariat's victory never been beaten in 37 years, but he will always be considered to be one of the best race horses of all time! :-) A truly inspiring, unthinkable story that has touched us all. A true Horse movie! :)

  • after i saw this movie i was the biggest racing fan

  • @123barrelracingchick I know right!! I just saw it today, it was one of the best movies I've ever seen.

  • This trailer gives me goose-bumps, as did the movie :) Disney did not disappoint with this one. Probably my favorite horse-racing movie. The fact it's a true story makes the film all the more exciting and wondrous. But I can't believe I've never heard of Secretariat before this movie... :( And I call myself a horse lover... T.T lol

  • Why is it an 'impossible' true story? someone reply :)

  • @LoveLiveJump Because the odds were so much against Penny. She had to battle just about every force in her life to make this happen but she was determined and she wanted to leave a legacy that her father would be proud of. It is extremely difficult to get a horse to the triple crown races, much less win all 3. That's why there has only been a handful of them that have won it all. Also you have to understand the times, Penny was a woman in a man's world.

  • @LoveLiveJump It was "impossible" because a woman who knew nothing about horse racing gambled on a horse that did the unthinkable. He won the Triple Crown after no horse had in 25 years & then broke each of the track records (Preakness time we'll never know since the clock broke) but set the track record for the Kentucky Derby & the world record for the Belmont & both still stand today. BTW, only 2 other horses won the TC since ..& both back in the 1970's. But Secretariat's times still stand!

  • my horse is related to Secretariat :P and foolish pleasure (who versed ruffian), northern dancer and star watch :D i'm so privileged

  • i think disneys sport movies are usually pretty good, its just like the ones that are about normal people that are godawful, like the pacifier and old dogs

  • He was a great race horse. And his heart was 4-times the size of A regular horses heart which allowed him to pump oxygen much faster. Although the great Man O' War had slower times (by a couple seconds), I've always wondered : if they had been born in Secretariats time period (with better nutrition, training facilities, etc.) who would've won in a race?

  • my fV... "you about to see somethin that you aint never seen before"

  • what is interesting is no horse has won the triple crown since 1973. I would love to see one in my life time if you know what I mean.

  • @NerdySportyPunkGirl Actually, the last horse to win the triple crown was in 1978-- his name was Affirmed.

But yes, it would be nice to see another triple crown winner in the 21st century. So i know xactly what u mean

  • Anyone know the music at 2:04?

  • @TikkiSarubi No, but I want to know! D:

  • @Oedipus58921 It's a story about a once real horse.

  • I liked the movie but I wish there was a little more balance between the horses story and the owners story. Too much about the owner and not enough about the horse himself. As everyone knows,Secretariat was a once in a lifetime horse. It should have been told better!

  • This movie is incredible, watched it yesterday. It's just as great as it looks, the acting, the everything. <3 you Secretariat. Race in peace.

  • i mean secretariats lol sorry

  • secretsriats grand grand grand grandson is my horse..jay j and i love him sooo much:)

  • OH MY GOD IT'S CHERRY VALANCE

  • Seriously need to see this movie.

  • can't believe they put him down after a month of having laminitis. my boyfriends horse had laminitis and went through months of expensive treatment and years after he's healthy and still winning in horse shows.

  • @catrinmorris you're cool, but you do know its a movie...is not suppose to be like real life most of the time ;-)

  • @catrinmorris Sorry, but whenever I see a documentary on animal rescue on National Geographic or Discovery, the impression I get is, that they put down every animal that gives "any trouble". This happens to dogs which after not being fed regularly in the past don't "pass the test" of having a fake hand put into the bowl. Christ, I had like 5 healthy dogs and I would never even think of trying this.

  • @catrinmorris Remember this is years and years ago that this horse lived. They probably didn't have the treatment back then.

  • I love this movie!

  • who's at the door?

  • Does anybody know when this is out in Australia? I'm dying to see it!

  • personally i hate this movie just not enough action! Way too much business talk!!

  • Back in '73 this great horse was the first racehorse I had ever paid any attention to. But you couldn't pick up any magazine without him on the cover! Secretariat was a household name everybody knew! He was legendary. Like a rock star.

  • They shot part of this movie at my school...lol...so cool

  • what a great movie for any horse and racing lover

  • The historic Spindletop Hall in Lexington, Ky made for a classy location in this film and the trailer.

  • Carissa Capobianco made my day by being in this film;)

  • This movie exists for me thanks to Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show :)

  • Secretariat is without a doubt my favorite racehorse ever!!

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE IT IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! secretariat is the best horse that ever lived i love this movie it makes me feel strong and want to be a race horse lol

  • @juniortipplover nice movie ,good story but the artist the way they act is pretty boring i mean over acting style

  • Smarty Jones was just one more milameter from winning this and overcoming Secratariat in 2007.

  • @rissylulu yes smarty jones was a good horse but smarty wasnt even in the same league as secretariat ! he broke the track record by over 2 seconds

  • Does the horse get injured in any way, or is it a sad film thats going to make me wanna cry? Because I vowed and declared to myself never to watch a dog or horse or any animal movie that either dies init or whatever... It looks brilliant though!!!!

  • @rebeccas0 I haven't seen the film yet. I only watch dvds and vhs because "going to the movies" has lost it's charm. I can tell you that Secretariay retired sound to stud at 3. Of the offspring that made it to the track IMO , the best was Lady's Secret whose dam was Great Lady M. a royal pairing. Secretariat was euthanized due to laminitis at 19 yrs old (far too young ,also IMO having had my dream horse until he was 32.) I'm sure you will cry for one reason or another. Tears come with horses.

  • @thebackgroundartiste One of Secretariat's offspring (Kingston Town), a big bold chestnut striking in appearance like Big Red, still, to this day, holds the Melbourne Cup (16 furlong) Race & Track Record, a feat accomplished in 1990. Despite a barrage of foreign invaders from England, Ireland, Wales, France, Japan, HK, NZ, UAE etc, none have even come close to nearing that record. Not bad for a breed that lacked stamina!! Go Big Red, you are and will always be THE BEST. RIP Champ :)

  • @rebeccas0 I'm with you there. I refuse to watch a move where an animal dies or is harmed. But no worries--no animals die in this film.

  • "You about to see something that you ain't never seen before" greatest line EVER.

  • probably one of the best movies of 2010.... a movie with a meaning that touched my heart!

  • i love this movie!!!

  • JUST came back today from my spring break trip to Kentucky!! Saw Churchill Downs AND Keeneland racetracks!! BOTH of which this was filmed.

And fell EVEN more in love with Big Red :)

  • Excellent movie!! Highly recommended!!

  • Also Check out Phar Lap - Another Fantastic True race horse story, but with a tragic end

  • This movie is really good, I love John Malkovich and Diane Lane

  • Cool trailer. I kind of remember seeing it happen in real life; the wins, I mean. Secretariat was an awesome horse. If memory serves, he won the KD by 33 lengths going away...?

  • @AJourneyOf1000Miles That was the Belmont--the KD was close~.

  • @AJourneyOf1000Miles Secretariat set all 3 TC records. The clock malfunctioned during the Preakness. He still holds the KD & Belmont (still the world record for 1 mile & half) and ties for the fastest Preakness. (Video shows he was actually 6 lengths ahead of the other horse he "tied" when they were run side by side). He is the only horse in the history of TC to INCREASE his speed throughout the KD & Belmont while breaking speed records. No horse, or human, has ever matched that feat.

  • One of the best movies I've ever seen. It makes me want to ride more often then I do. Secretariat (Big Red) is amazing, he's a beautiful horse and I love how this is a real story. Also they have the original lady (AKA Penny Chenery Tweedy) in the movie around the end. It's a must see film that touches your heart :) If it didn't you're a heartless, sad, lonely person, living with no love in your heart. I recommend this movie to every age group, especially since this is a family film.

  • Not only a legend, but a lesson to be learned to overcome, never say never, and know that great things do come with time, faith, patience and persistence.

  • You wouldnt believe that Secretariat was a real horse, won by over 20 lengths in his major race jeez

  • Sea Biscuit Rules!

  • I just wist they had had the decency to include Riva Ridge.

  • i watched it 20 minutes ago....its unbelieveable....i'd lie to work with horses...i love them since my childhood...they're so nice, strong, and fast! i love them and the movie is...AWESOME!!!

  • I absolutely adored Gary Ross' Seabiscuit & I will love Secretariat as well, I can't wait to go see it.

Also Ruffian, Dreamer aren't bad movies neither.

Gary Ross talked in an interview about the Secretariat movie, but I thought it would never happen.

I think he was asked to make a movie, but he declined for some reason.

  • Loved this movie.

  • amazing horse i watched this on a big screen tv with suround sound and i could feel the hooves of the horse gallop on my own floor as if we were there amazing story that horse became so popilar that he had more than 600 foals and my dad met the jockey of this amazind=g horse in person ron turrcot

  • I just watched the movie. Such an amazing movie. Walt Disney is awsome. I have never been interested in horse things but this movie was So exciting. I love the journey this movie took me in.

    A must see

  • I just watched the movie last night and loved it. During the race scenes starting with the Derby I got the same anxiety I do when watching the races on TV....even though I knew he won....I still was nervous. Great movie...although I am still partial to Seabiscuit.

  • The movie was great, but historically inaccurate. The movie never said a word about the great Riva Ridge, which was trained by Lucien Lauren and ridden by Ron Turcotte in 1972, the year before Secretariat's Triple Crown wins. It was Riva Ridge that saved Meadow Stables from financial disaster. He won the Kentucky Derby and Belmont in 1972, and if not for a sloppy track in the Preakness, Riva Ridge could have won the Triple Crown. I guess Disney decided to omit these facts.

  • This movie was perfect. I've always loved horses and I'd certainly heard the name Secretariat before, but never EVER could I have guessed the unbelievable story behind his fame. Sounds crazy but Secretariat is now my idol.

  • @ghlover2001 He's my all time hero too:-) I was 17 at the time you can not imagine the country's excitement over him. He did what no human or horse has ever done in HISTORY. He broke the KD & Belmont by SPEEDING UP throughout each race. He set every world record in the Belmont (except the first quarter) & was still speeding up at the finish. His Preakness "sprint" to the front has never been done. The clock broke so we'll never know his time. He was the greatest miracle of nature we'll ever see.

  • I just saw this movie this affternoon and I love it! Maybe the best movie Walt Disney mada!!

  • Such a great movie. My horse is acctually related to Secretariat.

  • i'm watching this in two minutes!!

  • i watched this movie already.on my tv my dad bought it...

  • at the end of the movie they show the real people that they should've used in the movie!!! But i love that movie!!

  • "Secretariat has a neck like a buffalo, a back as broad as a sofa. His chest is so deep and wide that it takes a custom-made girth to encircle its 75% in. and hold the saddle. And he is still growing." Time Magazine

  • Secretariat has always been my hero! before this was even a movie! :) <3 i love him!

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!

  • Where's the dance?!

  • Loved this movie so much... definitely going to buy it :)

  • This movie made me cry... From the beginning to end =)

  • from 2:04 the song playing is "reaching: by Audiomachine....just thought anyone would liie to know

  • And this is why I'll never get out of horse racing!

  • "well i think he eats too much and he lays against the back of the starting gate like he's in the caribbean.."

    hahaha!

    gotta love malkovich!

  • I feel like she's telling the opposite of how she feels. For instance, you run at it. ? Or When the horn sounds sounds like what she is afraid of. And I'm afraid of her. Black sheep in white sheeps clothing maybe????

  • Why Arabians I mean I know they are good for show but they are pretty stubborn and thoughbreds are at least fast

  • I love thoroughbreds but arabians are way better if you ask me. However, Secretariat is my idol

  • @SuperNessii1 In frenzied excitement, he eats up the ground. He paws fiercly, rejoicing in his strenght and charges into the fray, afraid of nothing. For when the trumpet sounds...

  • The movie did not capture the "magic" of what we saw in 1973. Secretariat is the most supernatural creature that ever lived. When a horse race can make people cry even after 38 yrs..the miracle will never be duplicated. What Sec did in the Belmont has never been recorded in history, even by man. He speeded up WHILE breaking the world record each quarter mile. He also raced faster in the Derby. The Preakness burst of speed has never been done by another horse. He was THE genetic, perfect 10.

  • WHO'S THAT AT THE DOOR?!?!?! Sorry, I couldn't resist! LOL! ;D

  • @SBluvr99 *dances*

  • i dont have horse, i dont miss them and i think it was boooooring.

  • About time Dinsey did a decent film since Walt died.

  • Wen't to see it 2 times :) LOVE IT! Guess who's gonna buy it on DVD when it comes out? THIS GIRL :P

  • Good movie :)

  • fantastic...amazing i like it :D

  • it's awsome....i like it <3

  • Fantastic movie!...i wonder who will win in a match race between Secretariat and Seabiscuit.... Both Horse are great horses.

  • Got to see this amazing athlete run as a senior in high school. what an honor.

  • what an awesome movie i love horseracing movies this is one of the best The Best Horseracing Movie is by far and wide is Seabiscuit if any out there hasent seen it plz go now lol

  • My horse is the grandson of Secretariat =)

  • @alarae93 So is mine!! Our horses are related :)

  • @alarae93

my horse is also related quite closely!!

  • I think i just saw a horse :O

  • really want to watch this! when does it come out on dvd???

  • @dizzybrowngirl From what I read, January 25th

  • Fantastic movie! Truly THE movie of 2010. And if Diane Lane doesn't win the Oscar for her performance, she will have been cheated.

  • Thank you Disney for that amazing movie and as a French Canadian to discover Lucien laurin and Ronnie Turcotte !

  • seabiscuit is way better! :)

  • yes indeed the name of the song towards the end is Audiomachine - "Reaching". This is a great movie ... can't wait to see it :D

  • Let him run Ronnie! Let him run - so emotional and beautiful !

  • best horse movie ever :)

  • boring movies are boring..let me guess..the horse is strong and fast at the beggining then he gets sick in the middle of the movie...then somehow he'll be ok and win...THE END

  • @rozzalenda123 hahaha dat was funny

  • @rozzalenda123 you are the one who is boring. THE END.

  • such a beautiful movie. i loved it

  • nice movie

  • I dont get it is this movie about the lady or the horse?

  • @mdadnan

    The horse

  • @mdadnan It's about the lady and her horse.

  • @mdadnan its about both, the lady was the first female owner to have a horse win the tripple crown, back when this was all a mans world and the females where expected to become house wifes, and secretariat was the horse who won it for her.

  • @mdadnan The lady was the first women to have a horse win the tripple crown, this was back when the females where house wifes, as pointed out in the trailer, and Secretariat was the horse who won it for her

  • Secretariats pretty cool, but I wish they made a film about man o war.

  • this movie is so good, was really surprised to find out it was a true story. Shame it was before my time. It will definitely move you.great stuff

  • Saw it, boring at times, not much of horses but pretty story.... the last race disapointed me, short and did not explain nor show fully the excitement of that moment. there were hints but thats all. Cute but not great.- thats my opinion, peace

  • before watching this Movie i didn't even liked horse racing ..

but now its all changed This Film Is Brilliant ..

at every moment the horse was racing i was setting on the edge of my seat .. and the moment the film ended .. i searched google for Secretariat (Big Red) .. and i watched all real videos of this horse race ..

And The Best Thing Is .. ITS A REAL STORY .. WOW

  • @modar30 If you liked this film, maybe you should see "Seabiscuit" too. Both films are about real horses and how they became great champions and symbols of courage

  • @modar30 you should try watching Seabiscuit :) I guarantee you'll love it. It's a true story about how a race horse became a symbol of hope during the Great Depression. :)

  • God get's the credit for creating such an inspired strength! You see how God is? Much different than man and his creations that always fall apart eventually. Even a bad tooth wouldn't stop this prize horse notably with considerable background! -- Puts all the doubters to shame because of her faith to see in this horse the will to go all out no matter what! I mean the lead actress was actually speaking to the animal & getting a connection. Action packed without a gun pointed at you! arch

  • Thats' the most inspired film I've ever seen! Best actress, No guns, great humor, unselfishness, faith & a will to win based on love & trust show God's creation wins hands down! Hats off to the writers and producers! Give that man a cigar! Worth a second look! arch

  • it be better if they didnt race the poor horse lol

  • i don't like many movies but this 1 seems special .

  • Has it come out in the UK yet?

  • Ronnie Turcotte is from my Hometown in Grand falls, nb Canada

  • I love horses and horseracing. Secreteriat is a legend! I really want to see this movie! I have had racehorses for many years. I love the beautiful animals!

  • *ding dong* "WHO'S THAT AT THE DOOORRRRR"

  • The best animal movies have to be horse movies.

  • filmed in my hometown!

  • ding dong... who's that at the door!? it's SECRETARIAT!!!

  • I was in high school and watched this amazing athelete's progression into immortality, but I never knew the amazing struggle behind the scenes until this movie came out.

I still get cold chills watching that Belmont Blow-out!

  • Looks to be a great film. I just hope they dont make the horses attitudes too human, something which disney has done before. Keep them as the animals they are with their own language to draw people in. Giving them human emotions gives the wrong idea. Hopefully its a good film

  • i love this movie saw it first day it came out

  • Utter trash.

  • While I did enjoy the movie, I'd think I'd rather have seen a movie adaption of Walter Farley's "Man o' War".

  • This movie inspired me so much.

I want to race horses. I became to love running. I have ran so much in the past month its not funny. Running is my life, I ran my horse. The winds rushes through my hair, and it feels good. The way it blows :) Life isn't about how you do its, its about believing in what your trying to do.

  • @Melbaly1cp beautiful words....

  • @Melbaly1cp I have the same dream!!!!!!I feel the exact same way!!! Maybe someday, we'll race together. :)

  • @cmf4321 I never thought i would find anyone who remembered Sham. This was the horse that I hoped that would beat Secretariat.

  • @jadegreenkaty Yeah poor Sham, if Secretariat wasnt around the history books would read Sham!

  • This horse reminds me so much of my own horse the way my horse and I have bonded and such. :)

  • seabisquit two

  • Riva Ridge saved their farm.

  • What took so long for this movie to be made? Its like the WW2 memorial in DC being built after the Korean and Vietnam memorials.

  • I saw this movie, and I had a very happy day!

  • I just saw it on Thursday last week. It's the best horse movie I have ever seen because usually every horse movie is about snotty little girls who have to have a horse or something. Thumbs up to this movie! :)

  • this an amazing story and a great movie for all ages. I didn't know the story before this movie but, now i am hooked on Secretariat and his wonderful journey.

  • DREW ROY AT 2:21 ONLY REASON WHY IM GOING TO WATCH IT. WELL IT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD MOVIE TOO.

  • This is my favorite movie. Really awesome and beautiful :) <3

  • I love the part when the lady says "How much did you spend on that hat?"

  • One of my favorite movies. <3

  • Look Ma! Secretariat! He's breaking through!

  • Zenyatta wil be the greatest horse in the world this week-end!! I am willing to say better then Secreteriat!!!

Zenyatta the first unbeaten horse ever, this will be history starting tomorrow!

  • somebeachsomewhere is the greatest there has been !!!

  • @starvini Sadly, no.

    She lost.

  • @starvini Are you using a perfect record as the sole criteria for placing Zenyatta above all others? Although she no longer has a perfect record, she is certainly a very fine horse, but she has not spent many seasons on the track and has 2 starts in open company, correct? Take a look way back into history (late 1800's-early 1900) and you'll find fillies who put Zenyatta to shame, starting with Imp. The Secretariat trailer looks good. Will have to see the movie.

  • This looks stupid

  • Saw this movie yesterday. I wasn't sure about it, but I ended up loving it! Inspiring, uplifting movie. Highly recommend it!
