Watched this for the first time 2 weeks ago had the dvd in my collection for over a year woops :P i really liked it the kid coverd in blood was a bit wtf great review
Great review. The second disk isn't really a DVD-R (even though it has that written on it). It's a bit of a Code Red joke. Both disks are factory pressed.
@DarkAngel182 I suppose I could do. Only watched it once, got the box set as a gift and it wasn't bad for a freebie. Mostly got it for Zombie Flesh Eaters.
@cueboy2k5 indeed, give Code Red their dues, they're essentially a one man band operation and from what I can gather is more a labour of love project than a business. They're not like Blue Underground, which cater to a wider audience and have more money to throw around. I have a few code red discs and have been satisfied with them.
@71yid not sure what the exact differences were between the cut cinema version and cut video version, except that it had a couple of extra snippets of gore.
As for The Thing, personally I'd go for Carpenter's version, but its difficult to compare as they're very differant kinds of films.
Good news that the films has been released uncut in the U.S., hopefully the UK will re-release it uncut as well. It was very hard to find an uncut version of this film. Lucky, I bought a dvd transfer of the Dutch video at Camden film fair, last year.

Got this on DVD. Came with my Box of the Banned set. Pretty good, very dark video nasty. Love the UK title.

@MatthiusSama you should upgrade to the US disc, the UK release was of the cut R rated version. The US DVD is uncut!

@DarkAngel182 Good review once again.
Not impressed with the dvd cover artwork tho, however, the two discs have plenty to offer despite the italian commentary on the 2nd one.
I have this film on video which was released on the wov2000 label, which i picked up from a seller on E-bay.
Is this then uncut as it would appear to be having watched it many times in the past?
71yid 5 months ago
@71yid the WOV pre-cert is cut, though it had a couple of scenes that weren't in the cut UK cinema version.
The Code Red DVD is fully uncut.

@DarkAngel182 Which scenes are these? The axe murder at the end of the film is quite graphic.
Do you have John carpenters The thing by the way? If so, would you say this version is better or the original 1951 Rko classic?

This one looks interesting, there seems to be a little bit more depth to it than in the typical slasher flicks of this era.

I was surprised to notice the similarities between this and Halloween as far as the movies basic plot and story goes.
Child murders family member, goes to mental asylum, escapes, murders teenagers, wares a mask, tries to kill sibling.
