  • Lies!

  • @Zachary Well then, what did he say that was false? Enlighten us.

  • This doesn't make sense. Regan fought to lower taxes, and he did. If your going to compare Regan with Obama, why not compare Regan with FDR? Ummm, of course taxes and tariffs were higher 40 years ago, they were even higher 50,60 or 70 years ago. There's been a large movement to lower taxes.

So, Obama is great because he somehow inherited lower taxes?

  • @groam6666 your right the economy was different in the 80s and yes Reagan did lower taxes its just the tax rates was higher in the 80 and its lower to day and Obama is trying to raise the so you are so right we need more people like you that under stand

  • @GrandAmGT1990 Would you please re-read your post. Tell me, what are you saying.

  • @groam6666 Yes, there's been a "large movement to lower taxes" The result? massive new deficits. Reagan nearly tripled the national debt in 8yrs, Clinton, conversely, didn't add a dime to the debt in his 8yrs. In fact, he produced a surplus. Then comes Bush who blew the debt from 5 to 11 tril. What is the lesson? Republicans, for all their talk of competency, can't handle money. In fact, they are totally inept at governing. They should be forcefully disbanded and jailed for criminal negligence.

  • @Loejyrrab Interesting, your correct about Regan deficits, but that also means that lower taxes increase GDP growth and employment. We wouldn't have a deficit if the federal govt stopped their wealth redistribution programs. The states can handle that much more efficiently than the federal govt.

Clinton raised taxes and expanded the federal govt, but govt spending to GDP decreased, why? The states began cutting their taxes. You also should consider the tech boom and .com bubble.

  • @groam6666 Reagan began the era of deficit spending. His OWN budgets had huge deficits.Massive across the board tax cuts=massive deficits. The Bush tax cuts? Again, huge deficits. It's not rocket science. Wealth redist? Merely a slogan. We have def's cause Bush put 2 phony wars ON CREDIT CARDS. Tax cuts and drug prog's also on credit. Our kids&grandkids will have to pay those debts. Tech boom? Sure it helped, but Clinton also cut taxes correctly,on the mid.class. He cut welfare too.He did well!

  • @groam6666 You wrote "So, Obama is great because he somehow inherited lower taxes?"

You're missing the point. Republicans like to run around screaming that Obama is TAXING us to death, and oh how we miss the days of Ronald Reagan and his low taxes. However the actual statistics suggest we pay lower taxes now than we did in the 80's.

Conservatives positions are based in mostly false, unrealistic, romantic, idealism; while liberal's position are based in reality..

  • @4yourinformationhaha Well, taxes are a big concern when it damages gdp growth, while the population is rapidly growing, but that's not the only concern (I know we pay lower taxes today, I made that point in my first post here). The "crowding out" affect is the most detrimental. There have been a number of studies that have looked into this, and as it turns out, countries with lower spending and taxes to gdp, have very high economic growth.

  • Comment removed

  • @4yourinformationhaha Also, due to inflation taxes have to be lowered to prevent people from moving into higher tax brackets, even though their income stayed the same. It's why the percentage of total govt revenue has stayed near 32% to gdp in the last 40 years, even though taxes have been lowered.

It's really about preference more than anything else. I prefer large long term growth, over immediate gains. How is what I've said false, unrealistic, and romantic idealism?

  • the GOP never let a little thing like the truth get in the way ! Reagan could not get elected to day !

  • Oh never mind Cenk Uygur being an absolute idiot...that's all thank you.

Truth in higher taxes or not, never listen to deliberate idiots.

  • More liberal bullshit. Want to see what this line of thinking leads to? Look at our unemployment rate, failing investment infrastructure and all the lies (failed stimulus, failed health care, etc.) barack has laid onto the American public. Life was great under Reagan; most can't wait until obama is defeated. Another great story by the half wits at young jerks...uh, turks. Great reporting, Cenk....

  • @ramairluvr The stimulus wasn't big enough and it seemed to be geared more towards relief and not job creation. Germany tried a similar strategy and they're doing well now..

  • Almost forgot, Another difference with Regan vs Obama and taxes? Regan's tax increases were to pay down the deficit, Obama's are to fund more "stimulus" aka wasteful spending/slush fund..

  • Maybe Reagan should have just blamed all of the problems in the U.S. on Carter, It works for Obama blaming Bush..

  • The difference is when you are building the economy more taxation is acceptable, when you are destroying the economy, more taxation is not acceptable. Beyond that, How many of these taxes were required to pay for crap that Carter put in place. Why is it the republicans always have to be the bad guys by footing the bill for the Democrats irresponsible spending?

  • tax the rich....the poor shouldnt be the ones who loose everything to make others life easier!

  • @whyUspeakin the poor don't even pay taxes typically, why do you think you get money back that you didn't pay in.. The most recent studies showed the poor pay -3.2% of the overall taxes taken in by the federal government.

  • @whyUspeakin the rich already pay 80% more taxes then the poor. So i dont understand why we taxe them even more. Hurting the rich whit hurt the poor because they are the one who supply jobs to the lowerclass. Yeah we can taxe them.... but more people will be laid off believe it or not.

  • What a surprise Republicans want to destroy the country.

  • Government is only vehicle since it was created artificially. Not a true free market function.

  • There is not enough competiton in the private sector. Smaller companies remain stagnant, get bought up or go out of business because of such facist tendencies. As a free market type of gal I would prefer low corporate taxes all around and perhaps higher individual tax rates for the super wealthy. But Im real enough to admit that government got us into the problem in the first place by picking winners and losers and allowing some to grow big enough to stiffle the others. We need a leveling and

  • Welch although there has been speculation that lowering capital gains encourages investment I have not been able to find conclusive proof. If you have then feel free to share. It could work that way if measures were put in place to enforce accountability. There are a couple reasons why we have a super class. One is corporate government collusion. Another is tax policies that protect the super wealthy.

  • reagon saved the us economy

obama spent more than any other prez.

    reagon was charming

obama is more interested in dept talks a little too late

  • Why are neither Republicans nor Democrats discussing tax reform? Loopholes and capital gains are the big invisible elephant in the room. It's a way to increase revenue from those who can pay more. Reagan actually proposed this although the implementation was questionable.

  • @mitziedoll making capital gains equal to the regular tax rate would defeat the purpose of the cap gains tax, it exists to encourage investment, which we need very very badly right now. its also an interesting tax because the revenue seems to be maximized at extremely low rates, dropping to lower would most likely increase the revenue. the ideal rate is probably around 6-10% to maximize revenue. i dont care about people getting tax breaks because of it, risk deserves reward, lets max revenues!

  • clinton didn't compromise with republicans to get reelected, he did it becaues the right thing to do. clinton was the anti-obama, he promoted free trade through NAFTA, reformed (cut) welfare with oustanding results, cut the capital gains tax by 8%, eliminated cap gains tax on owner-occupied homes, cut government spending by 3.5% of gdp, the ONLY similarty between obama and clinton was clinton's early tax hikes. THAT'S IT. clinton was a great supply-side president, and obama sucks

  • cenk is such a misleading asshole. tax receipts as a % of gdp are not a good way to measure tax rates. ITS THE LOWEST BECAUSE THE ECONOMY SUCKS YOU FUCKING DUMBASS. reagan's taxes were CUT SUBSTANTIALLY, you can't cut taxes over night. a cut from 73 to 28 percent is an amazing achievement. cenk argues the economy was better with 91% rates than 28% or 39% rates. this guy is an idiot. we blame spending and not revenue because govt is too big, RECEIPTS SHOULDN'T NEED TO BE HIGH. SMALL GOVT!

  • @Welsh77 Sure, small government is great, until people like you whine when you call 911 for an emergency and find out they can't help you, because what's left of emergency services are reserved more millionaires, or they ask for a credit card number before they'll come put out a fire, or save you from an intruder... Then of course when you turn on you faucet and foul sludge comes out instead of drinkable water.. Or you get sick and the hospital requests your entire bank account. You'll say HELP

  • @UrielDagda lol having the police and fire department help me is small government. by the way i pay for my own water and i paid a private company to install a filter, and i get my own water from a well, not the government. if the government would let me keep my right to own a gun, i could fend off intruders for myself. which is more effective? waiting 10 minutes for police and takin a chance, or having a gun to defend myself? the police can only find the intruder after he robs or kills me

  • @UrielDagda we dont need to tax people at 91% on the margin to build roads, pay firemen and policemen, run schools, and run prisons. we could probably handle all of that with just a 5% flat tax lol. we tax more to waste money on other things that no one would actually voluntarily spend their hard earned money on. you probably have no idea how much money we waste. this guy is an idiot. all effective tax rates are higher now than they were under reagan. just google cbo effective fed taxes 79-06

  • @Welsh77 And let's not forget that the usa didn't even have an income tax b4 1913 :)

  • @Chaaarge yea these lies annoy me so much. taxes are definitely higher than they were back then, receipts as a % of gdp and the top marginal federal tax rate are not good measurements for tax rates. you need to look at effective tax rates and you need to look at dollar cutoffs. the top cutoff under reagan was 250k, but back then that was a much higher relative value than the 379k value is today. way more people make over 379k today than over 250k back then. cenk sucks.

  • @Welsh77 The basic thing is that the governments job is to protect our freedoms (my opinion). The way I justify things like defense, courts and police is that without those, we wouldn't have the freedoms that allow us to pursue our happiness, but when the government expands too much it has the oposite effect, and it begins taking away freedom instead. The debates shoudl be: what has to be done to make sure liberties are protected. not: which liberties should we remove to serve the "public good"

  • @Chaaarge totally agree, it's all about a paternalistic government making decisions for its children, not treating them as adults. social security is a perfect example, the govt doesnt think you can save for retirement so they force you to. ridiculous!

  • @Welsh77 I would like to agree with you... But WOW there is a massive number of retired people who cannot make it without their social security. Most lower class people are just getting by. You think they have a 401k?

  • @Farmerarnst actually no, they don't. why? all these retirement plans allowing the average joe access to securities did not exist before the 1980s. that means anyone who started working before then missed out on all the compounding. anyone who started working after 1985 who created an IRA or a 401k back then should be in good shape after 40 years when they are ready to retire, if they contributed a decent amount of money each year. most seniors relying on SS didn't have the opportunity

  • @Farmerarnst the problem is, these working class people a lot of the time do NOT have 401ks. just google the average american's credit card debt, it's absurd. this country's saving values have gone down the crapper, no one saves money anymore. debt levels have skyrocketed, which is why net wealth levels for lower class people aren't growing as fast as they should. this is a problem of easy money and credit, which has made us lazy. WE are the problem, not the system.

  • cenk is a fucking liberal kiss ass

  • reagan didnt have to worry about a 15 trillion dollar debt. You should make a video that says President obama spent more than all the presidents combined. The reps and dems are like 2 dead trees leaning on each other and neither will fall. This system is being led down the path of destruction by dems and reps and they got us good. The more divided the better. I hate em all. This guy in this video is a party loyal cocksucker. He is goona get some ass in the bath-house tonight for towin the line.

  • LOL Give this guy a show on MSNBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @logix0 already done, bwahhahahaha.

  • You are totally ignoring the hidden "Inflation Tax". Inflation is a gigantic regressive tax on the poor. Thanks for printing all that money Obama.

  • ~~*President Obama, WE THE PEOPLE, ask that you call the Republicans' BLUFF on the debt ceiling issue. We ask that NO changes be made to MEDICARE & SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS. We ask for an END to CORPORATE WELFARE & CORPORATE TAX LOOP HOLES. We ask that you make use of the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT. We ask that you PROSECUTE WALL STREET CRIMINALS & their REPUBLICAN ENABLERS.....~~^^NO MORE CONCESSIONS, NO MORE HALF MEASURES. IT'S TIME TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY.

  • yeah lets not mention the half trillion dollars obamacare takes from social security and medicare dumb ass why dont you do everyone a favor put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger

  • @AssFaultCowboyPacksFudge "yeah lets not mention the half trillion dollars Obamacare....." what the hell are you talking about? Health Care Reform bill doesnt take ANY MONEY out of medicare or social security. I hate to break it to you. Maybe you should take your own advice. Unless you're talking about "Medicare Advantage" the corporate welfare half trillion dollar waste of tax payer money that Bush gave us. Thank God Obama got rid of that giant turd.

  • Also just in. Per stats, people get the least amount of info from Faux News and more from John Stewart. Gues what age group watched John Stewart? They are a big voting block.

  • I love it. As usual. The Conservatives suck like always compared to the Liberals. I love when the FACTS comes out. News Flash people. This is the information and technology age. Quit lieing GOP because you are being caught very quickly. Come 2012, your done. Funny how the Conservatives supported that Liberl in New Yorks 26th District recently and they also supported Jacksonville Florida Black Mayor. The 1st black mayor in over 20 years. Hmmm. Also, John Stewart passed Faux News in ratings. Hmmm

  • Considering what Reagan did under a democratic congress (deregulation, lower taxes, controlled inflation, cut umemployment by half, and made free trade fair) it would be safe to say he was a god of presidents

  • @LoganBlackP " it would be safe to say he was a god of presidents" In fantasy land where monkeys come out our asses. Reagan increased taxes on the middle class more than ANY OTHER PRESIDENT. Under Reagan unemployment went up to over 11%. Then went back down. Among his "godly" accmplishments, his holyness gave amnesty to illegal workers, average wages went down and he raised the national debt more than all the presidents before him combined. Reagan worship is absurd.

  • Oh CEEENK! Heres a challenge

I formed a small business WITHOUT debt and borrowing, cleared my overhead, and now can afford any tool I want without debt because I have a SURPLUS! And I still only spend on necessities

Now YOU go out in the world and run a business YOUR way! Spend yourself into debt, borrow the rest, buy things you don't need regularly, then SPEND your way out, raise prices on your customers, and never cut useless spending. And if anyone suggests budget cuts make fun of them!

  • HEY CENK, let's suppose I run my business finances like YOU and other clueless Democrats suggest we handle finances:

I run my spending beyond my necessities and rack up debt to my eyeballs. Now, instead of CUTTING costs to get back in the green, I raise my charges to customers and make it their burden to pay my debts, then I just don't blink an eye with my spending habit. I'd imagine taxpayers would be as eager to pay unnecessary expenses as my clients would be, if I still had any.

  • Cenk, thanks for helping me make the case for the absolute shear ignorance of the effeminate Democrat party.

All through this crying episode, we heard nothing but cheerleading for higher taxes, but NOT ONCE DOES IT PENITRATE THE THICK PLASTIC SKULL OF A LIBERAL TO ELIMINATE WASTEFUL SPENDING CUTS. Uh... wouldn't it make a hell of a lot more sense to pay off debt with money the feds already have? I'm just saying....

Uhh....wouldn't it make sense to- DUH- CUT SPENDING to pay off debt??

  • Obama stated that the tragedies of the civil rights movement was that the Supreme Court didn’t bring about redistributive change. watch?v=OkpdNtTgQNM He told Joe the Plumber in 2008, that he wanted to spread the wealth around. watch?v=PUvwKVvp3-o

    .

Obama is a socialist. He took over the automobile, mortgage, banking, and health care industries via legislation and regulation. Govt is expected to own 70% up from 19% in 2008.

  • @FreedomInAmerica the worst socialist ever.

  • When Reagan was in office, people all over the country actually had jobs, and our economy was at its best then. Now, most of the country is unemployed, and the government is ruling. The government does not create jobs Obama! Thats what the democrats need to understand, money makes the world spin, meaning we cannot be taxed and have our money taken away from us or else the economy is screwed and we cant afford any of our everyday necessities. Not rocket science, its common sense

  • Reagan did what he could with a Democratic-controlled Congress. Because of that, the Democrats in Congress got to write all the bills. All Reagan could do is either sign or veto them. Reagan did not agree with the exorbitantly high tax rates back then, so he did what he could with what little power he had.

  • What a great idea! Inflate taxes during a recession in the same manner as France, Italy and Germany so that our gpd can drop down to match their levels! Guess what you see when you go to Switzerland? French, Italians, and Germans. And if this clown got his fantasy, Americans too.

  • the economy is better during reagan! more people are working! inflation is less then right now and unemployment is a lot less then they are now! MORE PEOPLE WORKING MEANS MORE MONEY FOR THE PEOPLE TO SPENT!

  • @MichaelJefta That was just because the Chinese hadn't built up their powerplants and infrastructure enough to suck up all U.S. manufacturing yet. Reagan was busy laying the ground work for the U.S. job stealing "Free Trade" including NAFTA, which was initiated and supported by Bush Sr., passed under Clinton and expanded under Bush Jr. and Obama. So, what most fail to see is, all these administrations have been working for the same Boss....the Corporations.

  • Obama's not stupid, he's just been corrupted by the big health insurance companies, much like almost every other politician.

  • Just because a man can be elected does not mean he is able to run a country.

Hey, at least TYT and Rush Limaugh can agree on carbonite.

  • Ok, so, from what I understand, the Rich are not paying less taxes than ever under Obama! Now, is this true or not?

    I am seriously confused now???

Can I see some form of proof?

  • Of course entitlements are on the table, how else could obama make sure the republicans win?

  • God said no to O bamah I tried to warn my church noone would listen to me EZEKIEL CHAPTER 20.I was told to hold my tongue by the pastor in front of the entire church. They could have warned people they go to puerto rico and have been to israel.Id like to see them all say that to Gods face.I must be alone in my battle against the world

  • republicans aren't christians, they're reaganists

  • LMMFAO! NICE comparison to Carter Cenk ;)

  • GOP Grand ole Racist, Liar, Perverted, Sociopathic Party.

  • @baxtar1963: It's the same GOP who:

Nominated the current Black Supreme Court Justice .. Appointed the first Black Sec of State, the first Black Sec of Education & others .. Top Choice in 2007 to run for Prez was Condi Rice, a Black woman .. recently elected Allen West, a Black man .. recently elected Tim Scott, a Black man .. heavy support for Herman Cain, a Black man.

Yet Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says Obama's acceptable because he's "light-skinned" & doesn't "speak Negro"

  • I can't watch this fucking faggot anymore

  • You're right Republicans. Reagan was a great president., but I still think Eisenhower was better.

  • Comparing Barrryboy 0bama to the great Ronald Reagan is like comparing Idi Amin to Gandhi.

  • Am I the only person whose ears are bleeding?

  • Fkn TYT left wing lap dogs. Go eat dog food.

Obama is the fkn worst leader of the Western hemisphere since Hitler.

  • @deathtrapdeath Germany is in the Eastern hemisphere.... retard

  • @ChrisTripp Sorry, the Northern hemisphere. He! He! Now, go eat dog food!

  • Obama is Not a bad Politician, He is a Republican.

  • “Obama’s need for bipartisanship has taken over the need for accomplishing something.” - Alan Grayson

  • Obama deserves to be laughed at.

  • Taxes mean nothing. Money spent by government is resourced diverted from the private sector. The actual price tag is just differed by politicians to some future date by debt or inflation, but the cost to the economy is pretty much instant.

  • Register republican and vote Ron Paul. He's the only candidate that stands up for the middle class who continually get trampled by the monetary policies of the federal reserve and corrupt government/corporatism.

  • @hodoprime if he doesn't promise people free lunches, he can't get elected. Sad but true.

  • Surprise, Republicans are misinformed. Maybe one day they will all be completely informed and we can truly debate on relevant issues instead of arguing over nothing. A man can dream.

  • it's because he's black, simple as that

  • Comment removed

  • I disagree with it being a political mistake, in fact I think obama just wants to be able to say he vetoed a bill that would have cut medicare.

  • @logsandswirls first you should look the documents which are produced by the government that cant be lie and in germany it is available for every one when you visit their internet page.2. you should direcly eliminate people like palin who cant even memorize energy so she writes it in her hand,But your people IGNORE THE FACTS JUST ADMIT THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE FACTS AND DONT COME HERE AND BLAME MEDIA IF YOU WERE SMART ENOUGH YOU WOULD CONSTANTLYUNDERSTAND IF MEDIA IS LYING OR NOT

  • Oh so so sorry, but once again the young turks are wrong.

  • Free the weed, legalization and taxation is the only answer. weed cost more than gold per oz. that is a resource worth tapping.

  • the only reason why taxes were so high under most of reagan's presidency is because they were high when he entered office. he actually brought the top tax rate down from 70% down to 28%. getting congress, especially when dems still had a strong influence, to approve a reduction like that is not something that was going to happen in one year. to put the blame of high taxes on reagan because they were extremely when he took office is very misleading.

  • one of the funniest things ive ever done is look at a graph of our gross nation debt over time, next to a graph of our taxes over time . .. its actually not to surprising when u see a relationship between falling taxes and rising debt . . . Mmmmm wonder why that is. republicans are either retarded or evil. one or the other.

  • @keggerous what a simplistic approach to proving your preconceived notions. however, if you go back far enough to the early 20th century the top tax rate was only 7%, yet we didn't have a problem with rising debt or ridiculous annual deficitis. sorta blows your theory out of the water, doesn't it. the reason why our debt is increasing is because we continue to spend more than we collect. some people want to attribute this to lower tax rates. (cont.)

  • @cristoballs however, even with lower tax rates, tax revenues still increased. the reason why we saw an continual rise in deficits is because spending has increased. but go ahead and keep believing that deficits are caused by low taxes if that makes you feel better.

  • @cristoballs stupid argument , in the early 20th century about 10% of people pay taxes anyway.

  • @cannoir so then revenues would be even lower. wouldn't they? still, no ridiculous amount of debt be generated back then. so how is that a stupid argument? as you claim, there was a smaller portion of the population paying taxes, and they were paying a much smaller percentage, than what people pay today. wouldn't that suggest that deficits would be staggering if we're going to rest on the idea that low taxes=high deficits?

  • @cristoballs simple yes . .. but undeniable . . . unless ur a republican apparently. it doesnt blow my theory out of the water by the way . . . u forget we didnt have social security, medicare, the DEA, a large standing army, most of our public facilities, and constant war . . . ur also forgetting that standard of living, life expectancy, and just about every other standard of judging human wellbeing was FAR LOWER back then. thats why we have therse social programs. so we dont go back to that.

  • @keggerous 1st, i'm not a republican. just because someone doesn't buy into all this pro-obama b.s. doesn't mean they must be a republican. 2nd, the our higher standard of living today has nothing to do with social security or any other social program instituted by the government. our high standard of living came about because of better technology and our relatively free-market system.

  • @cristoballs free market isnt anything new.ppl have been practicing free trade for a long time. our standard of living is a product of technology in all fields aswell as our SOCIAL PROGRAMS! thats an undeniable fact. if u dont accept that then obviously u've never met a senior citizen that depends on those programs to even be alive . . . u may not be a republican but u spout republican non-sense, thats for sure. this isnt "pro-obama bs" either, i dont even like obama. its called being altruistic

  • @keggerous i love how you lump together technology AND social programs, as if they go hand in hand. our standard of living was improving long before any social program was ever implemented, so the assertion that you make about our standard of living being related to social programs as an undeniable fact is pure nonsense. further, most people who pay into s.s. would be far better off if they were allowed to put their money into a savings account, rather that having the govt control it.

  • @cristoballs, Two words GREAT DEPRESSION! Those people suffered because there wasn't ANYTHING for them to fall back on which led to people living in shanty towns and starving to death. If there was no social programs and someone lost there jobs, how could there standard of living be better, if they ZERO way of getting food, shelter and medical care?

  • @TheDalinkwent the great depression would never have happened were it not for ridiculous gov't policies involving the money supply and interest rates. basically what you're arguing is that it takes government action to save people from the disasters of government action.

  • @cristoballs, The great depression was caused by ZERO regulation to banks and the private sector. This nonsense that it was caused by Government policies contradicts the fact that President Hoover had the same thought process that you have right now, meaning he thought government had no place in the private sector or helping Americans in economic turmoil.

  • @TheDalinkwent what president hoover said and what he did, by way of signing bills such as the revenue act of 1932, are two entirely different things.

  • @cristoballs, Are you ignoring that President Hoover froze all Gov't spending? The revenue act was the result of Hoover cutting taxes for the top income earners from 74% to 24% which caused MASSIVE deficits, the very thing you conservatives think is the solution to everything.

  • @TheDalinkwent now you're just making stuff up. when hoover entered office the top tier tax rate was 24%. he actually raised that rate to 63%.

  • @cristoballs, You simply pulled that out of your ass. He only raised the tax level to 63% AFTER he cut it from 75% to 24% to deal with huge deficits he ran up with his original tax rate. You're simply ignoring the facts to push GOP nonsense. what's ironic is Hoover had the very ideals the GOP says are the gospel for a great economy. He even believed the Whitehouse should be run like a corporation and government had no place in people's economic or social lives.

  • @TheDalinkwent no. i actually verify things before i say them. in 1921 the top tier tax rate was 73%. in 1922, it dropped to 58%. in 1924, it dropped to 46%. in 1925, it dropped to 25%. by 1929, when hoover entered office, the tax rate was 24%. do some research next time.

  • @cristoballs, Changing things to fit your narrative is not "verifying things before you say them". You simply can't admit that Hoover followed the model conservatives keep saying is great for the economy and it failed.

  • @TheDalinkwent he raised taxes and increased spending. how is that in any way consistent with what conservatives say is great for the economy?

  • @cristoballs furthermore, spending actually increased during hoover's presidency. in 1929 when hoover entered office, federal spending was $3.8 billion dollars. when he left office, spending was $5.1 billion dollars.

  • @Lonesharck Ignorance is a choice. That's all i'll say. The Democrats think we can continue medicare in its current fashion. That's the scariest part

  • @shotsky94 by definition if we can cover these ppl privately then we can cover them publically . . . thats what scares me. that republicans dont understand that its actually more expensive to cover ppl privately then thru a public service like medicare. private insurance has 30% overhead while medicare has 3% . . . the profit motive is non-existent in the medicare system. look at it like a huge insurance company . . nut one that isnt about making money, just about helping ppl.

  • @keggerous: Damn ~ don't you know doctors already treat patients for nearly free when they accept Medicare/Medicaid? Do you not understand "costs", like expensive student loans, malpractice ins, etc?

And whatever gave you the idea that health insurers should provide for you at little or no profit? Yes, they provide something. They protect your assets. Don't like insurance? Use your own money. You might go broke you say? Yet you want an ins company to take YOUR risk w/little profit. Amazing

  • @2010GOP It's the mindset like yours that I absolutely despise. A LITTLE profit, did you just say a LITTLE profit? You are defending CEO's who would rather see you DIE than cut a million dollars off of their bonus Christmas paycheck. Yes I think people to make a profit. But not when it's at the expense of HUMAN LIFE. Which is why I support single payer, oh which by the way is actually CHEAPER to run and saves us more money.

  • @Teremei: Ignorance is what I despise.

Hospitals, Medical Supply companies & Pharmaceutical firms have higher profit margins than Health Insurers. And gee ... who is handed the majority of the expensive bills generated from those Hospitals & other companies?

If it's all about "human life", why aren't you yelling at doctors, surgeons, drug companies, and medical supply companies who actually set the cost of the "care"?

  • @2010GOP Your completely wrong. Doctors make outrageous amounts of money working in the United States compared to other country. Your insurance plans deny 1 out of 3 people coverage for prescriptions and or treatment to earn a profit according to a Harvard study. The U.S. creates prescription drugs, sells it to Canada for one/ third of the cost, but you enjoy paying more I guess? The costs to the tax payer in the USA are just as high, but with no coverage for the majority. lol

  • @2010GOP im talking about profit for insurance companies that offer no service besides that of a middle man . . its helpful for EVERYONE to get rid of the profit motive. we dont need to deal with a middle man so why should we? the government is suppose to be by the will of the ppl. its funny cuz ur the one that doesnt understand costs. do u realize that offering a single payer system will create a huge buying pool for healcare? do u understand that buying bulk ALWAYS cost less?

  • @keggerous: You have to be a deranged lunatic in order to think that way. WTH is wrong w/you?

To believe "Govt" can run anything, especially "health care", more efficiently is beyond all levels of sanity. How many yrs have we had to make medicare/caid run efficiently yet it's slated to go bankrupt? So let's hand Govt even more control! How smart. They did such a fine job in the mortgage sector, huh?

Hey ~ let's take profit out of the basic necessities w/food, clothing & shelter too!

  • @2010GOP ur poisoning the well when ur argument consits of "the government cant run anyhting therefore we need the private sector to do it" im sorry but thats bullshit. if theres a problem with the way the government is running somehting then we can change it. theres no reason to assume that we couldnt run it just as well as the private sector. do u even know why medicare is going bankrupt? cuz its not efficiency thats the problem. medicare has 3% overhead, compared to 30% in the private sector

  • @keggerous: How old are you? Have you ever studied U.S. economic history? Medicare is going bankrupt because the average worker pays in $55,000 in a lifetime compared to the $200,000+ cost for their medical care from retirement until deceased. That's called basic math.

I'm sorry that you don't have a basic understanding of why the Federal Govt's intervention should be limited. Start w/the U.S. Constitution & work your way into researching the economic history of the U.S.

  • @2010GOP first off, my age has nothing to do with it. secondly, ur perfectly correct. medicare is going bankrupt because we dont have enough money going into the system to pay for the healthcare we need to provide. thats why i suggest expanding medicare to cover everyone and start having ppl pay into medicare the same way we pay into social security. based on ur income level. its also because when we made the program, healthcare costs were far less and ppl lived shorter so we treated them less.

  • @keggerous: I would venture to guess that your age has a lot to do with it. Not enough time living in the real world to have a full understanding of how things operate, the economic impact, etc.

"start having ppl pay into medicare the same way we pay into social security" <--- If they work, they already pay into Medicare. By the way, Social Security is not looking too good either.

Raising Medicare tax would obviously not off-set the the cost to provide medical care to all. Hello?

  • @2010GOP none of those things are unfixable nor are they simply a problem of medicare. they are issues that all healthcare providers have to deal with. thats why private insurance doesnt cover certain ppl. Cuz it just doesnt make profit if u cover everyone despite the services they may need in the future. the cost of healthcare is going up faster in the private sector too just to let ya know :)

  • @2010GOP what ur suggesting is communism and im not a communist . . . i dont believe in taking the profit out of productive industry. shelter is created by a constuction company and shouldnt be produced by the government. competition and profit breeds better products and more innovation . . . everyone knows that. do i need to go over basic capitalism with u or somehting? insurance, on the other hand, is not produced like shelter or food

  • @keggerous: Insurance provides protection of one's personal assets. As stated, if you're against the core concept of insurance, don't buy any. Instead of paying premiums, put money into a separate savings account to pay for your medical expenses.

Should you become very ill & deplete your savings account, perhaps you'll have a better understanding of why health insurers have premiums that rise when the cost of care does, and why medicare is going bankrupt.

  • @2010GOP what u just described was a middle man . . . thank u for making my point for me. we dont need insurance companies. we can simply do it ourselves and negotiate healthcare cost ourselves . . . or we can pool our money together a negotiate costs as a huge buying pool made up of 300 million united states citizens . . .. or i guess u can keep on pay the next Ferrari some insurance company CEO buys. ur choice

  • @keggerous:

When you have more takers than you do producers, the "middle-man" is the government who doesn't "negotiate" --- that just simply force more out of the producer's pocket to pay for the takers.

I can shop for a different health insurer. I have no choice when the government is the "middle-man". And get this through your head: Government intervening in business breeds corruption. Always has, always will.

  • @2010GOP sorry but u cant just say that everything the government does breeds corruption therefore government healthcare wont work. thats not a convincing argument. did u know that we alread pay for a lot of ppl's healthcare? when someone goes into the emergency room tax payers pay for it if they dont. we're also paying for every malpractice lawsuit thats ever been filed and on top of that we're paying for CEOs to have fat paychecks and there companies 30% overhead. single payer is way better :)

  • @keggerous: Once again, study U.S. economic history ... the stats & facts are glaring. Never mind the unConstitutionality of what you propose.

If we had single-payer, who would pay for those "malpractice lawsuits"?

Furthermore, paying for random emergency care for a certain percentage of the population in no way equates to coverage for everyone for every ass-wart & sniffle ... not even close.

  • @2010GOP im not suggesting that there wouldnt be malpratice suits with single payer healthcare but what i am suggesting is that we should ease the burden of malpractice suits on doctors to drive down cost. ud be surprised how much ambulance and emergency room fees are. id bet ud be very surprised. savings also comes in the form of preventative care and better health management. catching things early by covering more ppl would drive down costs to a degree.

  • @2010GOP f we gave our money to the government instead of private industry we would save on overhead, have a larger buy pool, and it would be easier to negotiate healthcare costs. its far more efficient and im kinda surprised pl are so resistant to the idea of taking profit out of healthcare.

  • Did anyone see the jobs report today? Devastating. I"m not sure how TYT and other liberals can keep defending Obamas anti-business policies, but they do. It should be obvious to EVERYONE that whatever Obama is doing, it isn't working. I guess as long as Obama keeps advancing the liberal agenda, libs don't care if the economy goes to hell.

  • Time to call a spade a spade. @nastrobamas is a crappily programmed sock puppet.

  • Obama, I dedicate this video to you and both your dem and rep puppet friends.

    watch?v=_z-hEyVQDRA

  • WHy is this guy lying like a bastard that he is. Obama just decided to cut 500billion from medicare. It's the republicans that are trying to save medicare. Dont believe his lies

  • @shotsky94 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL STFU!

  • @shotsky94 he cut waste in medicare to save it u moron . . . the republicans are going to turn it into a voucher program that has ppl dealing with private insurance companies .. . how are republicans saving anyhting? there wasting ppl's money by making them pay private insurance profits . . . . ar u retarded?

  • Listing to Obama's BS is sickening. Sock puppet. Why do they even bother pretending the American system is a legitimate democracy. It's so obvious that there's only one "party" and it does not serve the citizens. Everything the repubs seek without exception just makes the fat cats fatter. Nearly everything the dems end up doing simply complies with what the repubs seek. Just listen to Obama waffle like a wet slice of white bread.

  • @greenchef6 It made a lot of sense. Just admit you dont know economics. The Fed printed the difference, so in reality, we are no better off

  • OMG This guy is an idiot. Comparing tax rates as a fraction of GDP.....lol...this guy needs some serious education

  • yall honky mutha fukas kizz mah azz yall racist biatches it our time we in charge nah

  • @nastrobamas huh?

  • yall niggas be dissin dah prez dis box head biatch b a racist muyha lik all yall crackas b obama b dah prez we in charg nah

  • @nastrobamas ...... translation?

  • @nastrobamas I love Obama supporters not only for their command of the English Language but their superior intellect. This must be some one working for Maxine Waters or Timmy Geithner. You are everything we have come to expect from the left. A fine example of the leftist education sysytem. Keep up the good work.

  • @olgadel1 With Palin and Trump as mascots, the red "team" (or red head of the beast with blue and read heads) can't say much about education or intellect.

  • @TheWingflyer Obama is going to pay my rent, put gas in my car, buy my groceries, pay my medical, educate me.... Oh that is my tax dollars. I pay my rent, gas, groceries.... the intellect of the left some one else needs to do it minorites aren't capable of taking care of themselves.

  • @olgadel1 LOL!!! That made so much sense! It's so in tune with reality and so not a thoughtless canned-spam caricature!

That speaks volumes by itself. "It's best to be thought a fool than to speak and prove it."

  • @TheWingflyer Actual interview comments from an Obama supporter after the 2010 election. Since you live in fantasy land and don't see reality, the economy is not good and getting worse.

You spoke it and proved that you are a fool and an idiot.. No you are not an intellect. You are just a smug nastrobamas.

  • @nastrobamas Oh dear intellectual. If you could please translate your complex language into standard english that would be very nice. Sincerely, fuck you

  • We should cut the congress paychecks of both democrats and republicans in half or more and make them lose their health insurance, let's see how quickly they will start working together.

  • U cannot argue with Republican pure pieces of shit. They call logic, truth, facts a liberal bias. U cannot debate functioning retards that don't care about ruining a country..just so they can get re-elected. They dont give a shit. They will lie with straight faces, they will use propaganda & sleep well at night. U deal with them by showing them NO respect. Call a cunt a cunt. Because Republicans do not respect the United States of America. Obama made a mistake being nice/reasonable with them
