When I first saw this shape, I immediately fell in love with it. I live on Cape Cod and the waves are small in the summer, and they don't give up very long rides. It looks like this shape would make the most of any wave. I've also read that they are notorious wave grabbers and can get waves that others have to pass on. Good paddling, constant and quick planing, etc. I was looking to build a nice retro fish this summer, but when I saw the mini-simmons shape, I said this is it for me man.
Alright there man(th), as its been 5 months since your comment i was wondering how the shaping of the mini went? Did you give it that S deck, and how about the middle-bulge foil? Im interested cos im going to shape my first board some time in the next year, and like you am really amped about the advances in super short, thick and wide shaping going on
I don't have the money to spare really, and the surfing season here in the northeastern US is pretty harsh right now. I need to also free up money to buy a cold weather wetsuit. But when I build one I'll let you know :) Actually, a great friend of mine is building one over christmas, and he lives in southern california. I'll let you know how he made it and how it rides, and get him to post to youtube.

surfing style is personal. telling someone how to surf is like telling someone how to make love. to each his own.
