have the same mazda 626, 2.0 l. Gorgeous car to look at, however road noise is loud in cabin and A/T is quite slow. Otherwise great car, i think next time i get v6 option in the same 626 body

Yeaaaah, I realized that after actually driving the V6. I'm stuck with this car for a while... lots of things going on with it. Just drove 180 miles, round trip, on the way back my CEL came on and I used 1/2 a tank on 140 miles. Something is up, lol

well I don't know the mileage estimates from the older ones, but I'm sure it's spectacular. My car has the four cylinder, and it gets around 33-36mpg on the highway. Yours can get similar, probably better!

I wish I had a Mazda 626, but I got a 98 Toyota Camry instead, just because of the problems I heard with the Transmissions. I do agree with you about the sound of the engine, when I was test driving one, that was one of the first things I said about the car. The 2000 model does have cool gauges, I like it has red needles.

Well, I think it's a very underestimated car -- at the time, it had more HP, TQ, better mileage, leg room, and the works compared to similar cars in its class.. such as hondas / toyotas!

It's a fantastic car -- my tranny is actually starting to hve problems.. turns out, its overheating, as a previous comment stated, haha.

simple problem to fix -- but i like the car!

you should get one if you have a chance ;) I drove multiple cars, and this one just clicked.

Sorry about the transmission, yeah what was Mazda thinking, when they wanted to put a Ford Transmission in there. All well hope you get to fix it before it becomes a major problem, because it's a good car. How did you switch the instrument cluster lights to blue? Did you use LED bulbs?

dude if its an automatic go buy and install and transmission cooling kit to keep your tranny from over heating ford didnt install them on the 4cyl. believe me it works

I'm not sure, but most 4cyl's i've riden in are about the same sound level..

it definitely doesn't have an aftermarket muffler - no fart cans or anything here.

if i ever do, i'll put a magnaflow on, but i really doubt it because i don't want to get a noisy vehicle again. not a fan of when all the sound comes from the tailpipe lol.

i just bought a cone filter and removed the air box, put it right in there, it sounds freaking insane, and gas mileage got better =)

I think the main thing is that it's a Hybrid. It's hard to explain here and I don't want to bore you with it, but it's pretty gutless. I know most 4-cyl's aren't that way. Anyway I'm very glad that you like your car. I'm sure you will appreiciate it even more when fuel prices go back up!

i heard the trannies on these can go out around 100k -- if so, ugh. oh well that's 30,000 miles down the road ;D
