This Cat has the proper "Thumpin" technique. Not that Flea "Jack booted" flyin' thumb crap. This is your Man here! AND NO TABBIN" use your ear's Vatos'!
first you should try to find your way of hiting the strings with yout thumb, this is very important i think. and after that you start just slapping everything: scales, grooves and so on...
i hoper this will help you a bit and i have to apologize for my bad english :-)
I think it's opposite... at 0:07 it sounds like he's bending or something, and you can se his fingers are performing a trill (at least it looks like it) at 0:23.
dude!, that was wicked. let me ask u something,... i dont have a bass yet and which do u think would be better for me to get a 4 string bass or a 5, and also a dean or a bc, im more of a rocker though not metal.
4 strings are always best for starters because there's just so much you can do on a 4.Go 5 if u need that lower note but 4 is fine to me. I think dean's a good buy.I tend to lean towards musicman, warick andibanez but i trued a few dean's i think their tone is awsome!
ibanez are good sound quality but if you need somethin that will last a while i go for washburn. plus they are cheap. and if your just starting a four string should be good
I also agree with everyone; Ibanez is your best choice. I've been aiming for an Ibanez myself anyway, but I'm going for a 5-string. That low note really helps, and you don't always have to use it, you can completely ignore it... But if you want something basic, get 4. You won't need that 5th one. Never get a 6-string bass unless you're a pro though, seriously.
Rickenbacker, MusicMan, Fender's "Precision", all good choices. Even the Fender "Jazz" bass is good... Play around with some, then pick.
si ptm asi me siento!!xD!!!naa no tanto pero es cagon q no salga igual yo tengo una bajo relativamente barato y no suena asi es por q mi bajo es barato o pq q no se tocar??
i stared 3 days ago but i get it quite well.. i played acoustic guitar for few years, it helped a lot. But i just feel the bass, like i was born with fret in hands.
Just watch it carefully and write the tab out yourself while having your bass on hand to try it out as your writing to make sure your right. Takes time but it's not too hard to do.
tabs do work but com'on it's all about technique. learn the scale play it up and down play it in different keys and thats about it. from there it shouldn't be hard at all
hell i remember what this is! These are the slap exercises of JP dias appeared in "slapping funky grooves" . you can buy that at ebay...and that dude stole it! I bought it and there is written "copyright 2005" so watch out my friend if you don't have the license!
well you asked this a year ago but... the way i do it is do a quick slide from say 11th fret to 13th (on G string) then do a trill which is a hammer on pull off, then hammer on pull off again with out replucking the string (left hand onlny) at about the 8th to 9th frets... thats the technique more or less, just release the slide not really fats after you slide
eccellente, molto d'aiuto

When you slap, dont use force, "throw" your thumb.
it needs to be lightly

It's not called a hammer on, it's called a trill. It's done by using the hammer on pull off technique.
This guy was only asking, don't slate other people. Especially not when you're ignorant yourself.

the only trill happens at 0:07
not 0:23

get a 4 string if you are just starting out, squire jazz basses are good, same with ibanez,bc rich and dean are very metal
slappop7 3 years ago 3
yeah, a 4 string would be easier to learn slap on, but im buying a 5 string cause i play more than just slap
brycemcq 3 years ago
if you are into rock, get a dean only 4 string. 5ers are good but not really for a beginner.
valo123456 3 years ago
dean's aren't good, get a fender squier for beginner
Marxfan58 3 years ago
if someone plans on getting into 5 eventually, you might as well start on one. but it's still good to have a 4 around
