  • at the end lol

  • sounds like this should be on seinfeld

  • haha agree

  • Didn't this guy play the theme for Seinfeld?

  • People, This Cat has the proper "Thumpin" technique! Not that Flea "Jack booted" thump & Pop" style. You can learn it right, right here, and remember...NO TAB! use you ear's Vatos'!

  • what means that jack booted styles? from the flea?? Here in the belgiums our english is very poor, i take also excuse

  • Órale,

This Cat has the proper "Thumpin" technique. Not that Flea "Jack booted" flyin' thumb crap. This is your Man here! AND NO TABBIN" use your ear's Vatos'!

  • im just a beginner i worked VERY hard for the past 3 months and i want to learn the bass slap

i dont know where to start can anyone guide me plz?

  • first you should try to find your way of hiting the strings with yout thumb, this is very important i think. and after that you start just slapping everything: scales, grooves and so on...

i hoper this will help you a bit and i have to apologize for my bad english :-)

  • When you slap, dont use force, "throw" your thumb.

    it needs to be lightly

  • tab for the first one plz

  • god gave u ears for a reason! use em =]

  • You can see him play it for one bar. There's basically three notes and ghosts so do yourself a favor and figure it out.

  • come on man, you have the sound and the video, look and use your ears.

  • tab for the first one plz

  • TABS? you have the only tabs you'll ever need on the sides of your head

  • todo un maestro

  • This is a stingray. right?

  • I'd like to know if there was any transcription on this in form of tabs or sheet music

  • HI 。。

Your play is cool ,BASS man

  • that looks like cliff williams bass

  • It's a Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray bass.

  • That looks like an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray

  • Your channel is the most original I have seen.Congratulation for all your work.Very useful.Thank you. Carl

  • the 2nd 1 sounds kinda like walk this way by aerosmith

  • tab tab tab pls pls ...

  • what is the best tunen for slapin mine is itt drop b

  • Awsome!

I need to know how he dows that at 0:07

I cant see him plating to help me get it...

  • 14th fret then 12th fret vibrato

  • music man!!

  • what is his name

  • the best bass ever for play and style must be the italia mondial bass in blue

    lov'in it :)

  • that is a musicman stingray..it is a very good guitar for slap-bass.

  • How does he do 0:23?

  • its called hammer on...how do you play bass and not know that?

  • maybe he doesn't play bass? Or is a beginner?

  • maybe he's just calling you a beginner!!! >=[

  • It's not called a hammer on, it's called a trill. It's done by using the hammer on pull off technique.

This guy was only asking, don't slate other people. Especially not when you're ignorant yourself.

  • the only trill happens at 0:07

    not 0:23

  • I think it's opposite... at 0:07 it sounds like he's bending or something, and you can se his fingers are performing a trill (at least it looks like it) at 0:23.

  • 00:23 is just a simple hammer on

  • it goes on the g string

slap 3, hammer on 5. then pull off and hit the 5 on the d string, then finally the 3 on the same string

  • dude!, that was wicked. let me ask u something,... i dont have a bass yet and which do u think would be better for me to get a 4 string bass or a 5, and also a dean or a bc, im more of a rocker though not metal.

  • hey man if u like rock get an ibanez soudgear, jazz bass, stingray, all r great basses plus those are all really versetile

  • 4 strings are always best for starters because there's just so much you can do on a 4.Go 5 if u need that lower note but 4 is fine to me. I think dean's a good buy.I tend to lean towards musicman, warick andibanez but i trued a few dean's i think their tone is awsome!

  • ibanez are good sound quality but if you need somethin that will last a while i go for washburn. plus they are cheap. and if your just starting a four string should be good

  • I also agree with everyone; Ibanez is your best choice. I've been aiming for an Ibanez myself anyway, but I'm going for a 5-string. That low note really helps, and you don't always have to use it, you can completely ignore it... But if you want something basic, get 4. You won't need that 5th one. Never get a 6-string bass unless you're a pro though, seriously.

Rickenbacker, MusicMan, Fender's "Precision", all good choices. Even the Fender "Jazz" bass is good... Play around with some, then pick.

  • i have an ibanez.... love it!

  • get a 4 string if you are just starting out, squire jazz basses are good, same with ibanez,bc rich and dean are very metal

  • yeah, a 4 string would be easier to learn slap on, but im buying a 5 string cause i play more than just slap

  • if you are into rock, get a dean only 4 string. 5ers are good but not really for a beginner.

  • dean's aren't good, get a fender squier for beginner

  • if someone plans on getting into 5 eventually, you might as well start on one. but it's still good to have a 4 around

  • When u begin u should buy a bass for a not to hgh price and u need one with a sound u like and that plays comfortable

  • does anybody know who the guy playing this stuff is?

  • nice

  • If your confused just keep watching and gradually pick apart what you figure out as it comes to you.

    Patience.

  • hes not black?

  • oh men i like this video

can you please post the tabs on the riff from

    00:17 till 00:23

  • got ears?

  • And eyes?

  • not every body can do that you know

    It's prettu hard actually....

    I can butsome ppl cant

  • i wish i could do the techniques the right way... im new

  • Me 2, I started a few months ago lol.

  • like me :S i dont get it xD ive got 2 ask my bassic teacher...

  • same here x)

  • i stared 3 days ago but i get it quite well.. i played acoustic guitar for few years, it helped a lot. But i just feel the bass, like i was born with fret in hands.

  • Vale la pena verlo!!

  • hi, can you please post the tabs of the riff from 00:00 till 00:12?

  • why do you need tabs, doesnt he show how to play at the begining

  • how's he do the last quick trill thing at 27 seconds?

  • it looks like he spread his fingers down the strings.

  • that was sweet

  • nice Vids !

  • slap bass is really easy if you just practice it a couple days. For instance, all the stuff this guy played was slow and basic. good for a lesson

  • groovy stuff man

  • This was cool.

  • I have no idea how to play slap bass.

    I wish I did.

    I should get on that.

  • How can i get the tabs for the first riff he plays?

  • Just watch it carefully and write the tab out yourself while having your bass on hand to try it out as your writing to make sure your right. Takes time but it's not too hard to do.

  • stop usign tabs

  • why the hell not? they work dont they?

  • tabs do work but com'on it's all about technique. learn the scale play it up and down play it in different keys and thats about it. from there it shouldn't be hard at all

  • if he wants 2 use tabs he can man i do i dont get thu whole note thing :'(

  • seriously replying to all these messages under this one doing it by ear is a much better way to figure stuff out

  • is there any way to get the tabs for that video??

  • Good one. Thank you.

  • nice !!! makes me i regret selling my bass :(

  • good :=))

  • how can i get this lesson

  • i dont see better!!! excellent!!! very good!!!

  • excelente!!!

  • good!!!

  • i can manage the first and last by wtching this video....

  • I like the one that begins at 0:17 most. :D very nice.

  • they look easy, and sound very very cool!

  • kwl i play bass but i've never fully understood popping and slapping, the whole right hand positioning thing. Thanx

  • love slapping

  • that thing at 0.07/0.08 is sweet. can someone tell me how to do that?

  • yea i really want to know how that thing is done at 0.07 can someone please tell me or post a video response 4 me please !!!!

  • hell i remember what this is! These are the slap exercises of JP dias appeared in "slapping funky grooves" . you can buy that at ebay...and that dude stole it! I bought it and there is written "copyright 2005" so watch out my friend if you don't have the license!

  • I bought this same one direct from the website after seeing this, and it is JP Dias running it.

  • damn, i really like that one that plays at 18 seconds, that's nice.

  • I love slapping

  • Man... those Musicman sound so fucking nice in slap !

  • Can someone describe to me the technique used at 0:07?

I have heard multiple players do it but i have yet to figure it out.

  • well you asked this a year ago but... the way i do it is do a quick slide from say 11th fret to 13th (on G string) then do a trill which is a hammer on pull off, then hammer on pull off again with out replucking the string (left hand onlny) at about the 8th to 9th frets... thats the technique more or less, just release the slide not really fats after you slide

  • slapping=the only thing i do cuz its freakin sweet
