I grew up having different kinds of dogs- brown, yellow, white, tri-colored and most of all black. I used to have a mutt named Kiro he's a black dog ( had him for six years until he fell ill) he was of my family's sweetest and smartest dog. I hope people would learn to look beyond the dog's appearance. These dogs are cute and beautiful.

Good for you for shining light on this problem. I hope everyone who views your video passes on the word that big black dogs are so discriminated against. I think part of the problem is that people think black hair will be more visible around the house than light hair, but unless a person has solid white flooring, light hair shows up much more than black. My dog has both strawberry blond hairs and black ones, and I don't notice the black ones on our light tan carpet.

I grew up with Lab/Chow mixes. A girl on a message board alerted me to the plight of big black dogs. I couldn't believe this shit! So I adopted a Lab from a local resque and she is the best behaved dog I ever owned! I love my big black lab!!!!!

I just lost my dog of thirteen years and he was black and was the most loyal and loveable dog you could ever imagine, he taught me the most beautiful lesson in my life: unconditional LOVE ! even when he was almost dying he came at my side maybe to say thank you or simply to say good bye. even gave me face when she saw the dog but when we were put in a room with the dog she was the sweetest thing she started kissing us and everything. Ironically we adopted her despite what my mother had said about having a black dog. We still have her today and almost everyone including my mom who seems to love her alot. It goes to show that people overlook black dogs without ever looking at their personatily. It's such real shame.

I will never understand people and there dislike for black doggies. My whole family fosters for a local shelter. We usually end up keeping them. We have total of 12 dogs at the moment. 8 which are ours and out of our 8, 5 are black. The other 4 are boxers, dauchund and rat terrier. So thank you for posting this video. Thank you for your wonderful video. More people need to be made aware of Black Dog Syndrome. I have three dogs, and the one I most recently adopted was adopted specifically because I wanted to rescue a black dog. She is fantastic! I just had business cards made to educate people about Black Dog Syndrome and to promote black dog adoption. Keep up the good work!

they wanted to raise awareness on black pets and how they are last to be adopted and had a discount on the adoption fees of all the black animals

All my dogs have been black and mainly labs or lab mixes. I've always thought that black dogs are soo beautiful! When I adopted my dog from the shelter the first thing I noticed was her little white skunk stripe down her neck. She is a lovely black and white border collie mix.

Very good video. BBDs are wonderful and very much in need of our compassion. Our BBD is gorgeous, glossy and shiny. She's affectionate, patient with kids, and dying to do whatever we ask of her. Very trainable, highly tuned in to our emotions and moods, and never chewed a thing in her life that she shouldn't have.

Black dogs are awesome -- thank you for posting this. I hate when people overlook dogs because they are black or black and tan :( I've been volunteering since 1997 at my local shelter and I've seen many dark coloured dogs stay at the shelter for months :/

Very Surprised at this statement. My Black Lab dobermin mix just pastaway and he had an angelic gentle handsome face. He was distinguished,supportive and protective.Very important to keep shade convenient for them because their color attracks heat..and important to turn on lights to room they may be lying in since a black dog doesn't understand why we would trip over them..."Oh geesh, Clumsy Human"
