You guys are only seeing the money side of things or the "political" side and like to criticize them that way. You're not seeing the good things this church does such as helping the poor in 3rd world countries like the ones in Africa. I'm personally involved in a ministry under Hillsong called street teams and we help people in communities where there are so much emotional poverty. Basically, im not presenting Hillsong, but I stand for the good things they do to others who needs it!

Well, the church was never meant to be separated by denominations and theology. The church was meant to be united. So, Hillsong seeking to connect with other churches is not a bad or good thing.

If church was just about singing and feeling happy..it wouldnt matter....but most protestants know that thousands died so we could read the bible in our own language and not just be blindly led by a the pope and his interpretation of the message.. Catholics do not pray "through" any human but Jesus. They ask those who have gone before them to pray on their behalf. We know that the saints who have died are before God offering the prayers of those living as incense from the book of Revelation. Joshua was under the Old Law which no one could follow 100%. God knew they couldn't. It was meant to show them how unlike God they were. Church history has everything to do with what you believe, including what you believe about the New Testament.

I met the bass player from the hillsongs band a couple of weeks ago. I didn't take the opportunity to correct some of houston's false teachings, strangely enough. :-) But I still didn't like a lot of what he said.

But the Catholics do not think we are all one body in Christ...not the orthodox ones. I had one tell me I wasn't going to Heaven. They say if I am not a member of the Catholic church I won't go to Heaven, and this is not Biblical. It is the Catholics who do the dividing.
And yes, many martyrs died for trying to write the Bible in the launguages of the day, so you and I could read the Bible...and not just have the priests telling us what it says. Explain that.

You guys are only seeing the money side of things or the "political" side and like to criticize them that way. You're not seeing the good things this church does such as helping the poor in 3rd world countries like the ones in Africa. I'm personally involved in a ministry under Hillsong called street teams and we help people in communities where there are so much emotional poverty. Basically, im not presenting Hillsong, but I stand for the good things they do to others who needs it!

@pearlsnheaven In the scripture, we are told to judge with righteous judgement. We are to measure all things by the word of God. If it doesn't line up with scripture, we are to reject it. Christ warned about false teachings and prophets. Are we not supposed to emulate our Savior? The prosperity gospel is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Do you even know what it means to blaspheme the Holy Spirit? It certainly isn't done by warning people of Satan's lies...like Hillsong.

The ancient Jews didn't have a concept of the afterlife either. I don't really understand what you're asking because, as a Christian, you already believe that we can correct incorrect theology. But Constantine was never a bishop of the Church, he only convened the council that decided matters. He was never the deciding factor in the council either. He didn't decide to change the date, the bishops did. You should know this if you studied Church history.

These words would not be used that way in an intelligent debate. Other than that, I can't see that you understand how much history plays a role in your doctrine or what authority your hermeneutics has. Catholics do not pray "through" any human but Jesus. They ask those who have gone before them to pray on their behalf. We know that the saints who have died are before God offering the prayers of those living as incense from the book of Revelation. Joshua was under the Old Law which no one could follow 100%. God knew they couldn't. It was meant to show them how unlike God they were. Church history has everything to do with what you believe, including what you believe about the New Testament.

I'm sorry, but it is made up by man = false...in context greek/hebrew it is future, and saints are believers/christians... Jesus taught us to pray in Mathew 6. One other thing. If we have to be 100% right about our dogma and you are right... You are the only one who is really a follower of Christ. Because no one completely agrees on doctrine. I've even been called a non-Christian because I support Charles Darwin's theory of evolution which has nothing to do with my faith in God through Christ.

No, you don't have to be 100% right and your argument, "...I'm right..." doesn't hold up. You have to give a better reason than that. And scripture is not always straight forward. There is an entire field of study called hermeneutics because the scriptures can be translated and interpreted sometimes dozens of ways. That's why you don't have to have 100% correct doctrine. If you have something better to say other than, "I'm right." I'll listen, otherwise... You shouldn't say anything.

There are currently many antichrists in the Houston empire, and the Charasmatic and pentecostal movements. This is sadly true.
God lives in a high and holy place but also with them who are of a humble and contrite heart. He does not live in man made empires comprised of tinsel, designer clothes and loud music. I was raised a Catholic myself and actually came to know Jesus personally through the Charasmatic renewal in the Catholic Church..
