  • What a bunch of fools you all are. Just keep reassuring each other that Reagan was a great president. Feel good? Yeah, I bet.

  • We need another regan

  • Ronald Reagan, that shining city on a hill shone it's brightest when you were here looking after it!

  • Ron Paul 2012

  • @oas1s2004 Please go away you moron! Ron Paul is a libertarian nutjob and would destroy any chance of recovery. Reagan was not a libertarian but rather a conservative who preserved freedom while maintaining order. Paul would destroy order. Reagan was very smart and candid at how he approached situations. Paul I remember said in 08 that he wanted a flat tax of zero. That is when I started to wonder if he had his head on straight. CON.

  • I chose to present this speech in class today. Never has a president sounded like he was sitting in the living room. I wish we had a president like him.

  • Happy 101st Birthday Mr. President

  • And may God bless you too President Reagan

  • As an Englishman I salute President Reagan. Friend to our dear Maggie.

  • Uncle Ronnie was the best we've had in a long long time.

  • President reagan would be pissed if he was alive knew what obama is doing. He would call a press confrence and bitch him out

  • i dont agree with many of his issues either but unlike todays politicans he did get a lot done. he was even right about our children learning history and civics. thank you Mr President for making me who i am today

  • The Best long live Reagan I wish i could go back to the 80's

  • I am a young Canadian who aspires to be a politician. It is men like President Reagan who have inspired me to do great things. May he rest eternally in peace, and may God bless him and his great nation.

  • I hope that President Romney follows President Reagan.

  • from your mouth to G-d's Ears

  • I'd take Clinton or FDR in a new york minute over this bafoon!!

  • @greg4161 What a dope

  • Someone send this to Obama.

  • I really don't agree with many of Reagan's policies, but I'll admit the man was very likely the right tonic that America and even the world needed during the 80s. With the memory of 3 failed presidents and even the Vietnam War somewhat fresh in peoples minds during the early 1980s, Reagan brought a lot of optimisim under his charisma. I guess that's why there were so many "Reagan Democrats" around in the 80s, the Democratic canidates were so flimsy in the 80s....Carter, Mondale, Dukakis...

  • There are many things one could criticise about his presidency. But it's the nature of his character that impresses me. Born into poverty in a small town, he couldn't hear or see properly for most of his childhood. And yet he possessed an undiminished optimism that enabled him in the sunset of his years to change his party, change his country, and change the world. And he did all that with the most powerful yet benign weapon of all. His words.

I'm glad I lived when he did.

  • I live in Wales and the main reason I have for respecting Reagan is that he took the terror of Nuclear War away. Ill always be thankful to him for that.

  • I am italian, but I must say I always loved this man and his phylosophy.

  • @FreedomLover1973 you can say that again

  • This is the kind of Presidential thinking we need today.

  • I'm too young to have gotten to know him, but looking at Reagan, he seems so real, and seemed to truly be a good guy. I think Ron Paul could be this generation's Reagan.

  • @sonicfan23 i hope so too

  • Under Regan., CA went from 20th to 13th in personal income tax collected & from 4th to 1st. per capita revenue from corporate income taxes.

Reagan increased federal spending by 53%, added 250,000 new gov't employees, expanded the unconstitutional War on Drugs, created “drug czar's" & debased your 1980 dollar to 73 cents. Carter's $74B deficit ballooned to $155B under Reagan who imposed a 100% tariff on selected Japanese electronics.

Google: "The Reagan Fraud — and After"

    Talk is CHEAP!

  • @yakyakyak69 No. What's cheap is you coming on here and taking pot shots at a man who is no longer alive. What's cheap, is putting the Muslim Brotherhood in power in the Middle East. What's cheap, is the Federal Gvt. making pple buy health ins. What's cheap, is running guns over the border in order to target the 2nd Amendment. What's cheap, is appointing known COMMUNISTS as "CZARS." What's cheap, is "Solyndra." What's cheap, is calling the Tea Party "Terrorists." Thank God it's almost OVER!

  • Reagan was a president who spoke poetically, but saw "more prosaic things." And neither were contrived, both were genuine. Ronald Reagan was the greatest president of the twentieth century, and all of his successors to date seem small and confused in comparison. Rest in peace "Gipper" knowing that a grateful nation still loves and appreciates you.

  • I was a soldier when this aired and I cried like a baby. Thank you Ronnie - I love you and I miss you. You are the greatest president of my lifetime and I will always remember you with pride and love.

  • at least he focused on remebering and not forgeting history

  • The Last Real President America ever had, since then we've had 4 fabulous fonzanoons.

  • A very gracious man who understood the abuse of communism, Obama is nothing but an absolute disgrace.

  • @Stego2001 Never were truer words spoken .

  • Mr. Regan I wish you were here. The republic has changed alot since your presidential years.

  • even though i wasn't born when he was in office but his speeches were great. we need another reagen instead of this stupid ass obama in office

  • obama has eroded the american spirit

  • We the people tell the government what to do. It doesn't tell us. We the people are the driver. The government is the car and we decide where it should go and by what route and by how fast. Ronald Reagan, we need somebody like you in office today.

  • A speech Obama could only wish he could give. What a failure Obama is.

  • @blujkts Amen

  • In a way I'm kind of glad alzheimers stopped Reagan from seeing what was happening to this country since he left.

    REAGAN/BUSH 2012

  • As far as I'm concerned, he's the only president that both Democrats and Republicans loved.

  • I MISS HIM!!! His LEGACY WILL LIVE FOREVER!!

  • Never see someone like him again, a true leader

  • Remarkable, what a President! MISS HIM.

  • He was my first Commander in Chief, and the last great American President. This country needs someone like him again.

  • Contrast this, with the imposter we have in office today. It makes my stomach turn. People, we have to take this country back from Barack-alypse Obama-geddon, and the Democratic Socialist Party, while there is still something to take back! The routing of Socialism is at hand!

  • god he was one outstand president!

  • Ronald Reagan makes me proud to be an American, the only shame is that my children will never get to experience a President like him.

  • I was thirteen years old when I first saw Reagan campaigning in SW Michigan. I never gave two-shakes about politics... I was a young teenager, after all. I was standing about 20 feet from where he was speaking - but it wasn't a speech. He was making points, and interacting with the crowd. Then, he said something that hit me between the eyes and stuck with me ever since. He said "This isn't about what I can DO for you, it's about what I can do to get government out of your way." Amen, and Amen.

  • Reagan's comments from the 10:00 on couldn't have been said any better!

  • Ronaldus Maximus the First----what a great American!

  • Everyone today needs to listen to 15:25 and beyond. 'Merica!

  • Listen from 5:15 until 6:20 ; Obama COULD NOT DO THAT!!!! I love Reagan!!!! I mean just listen to this and decide for yourself.

  • He was uncle Sams kindly uncle

  • there was no better then this man and we knew it. The last portion of this speech is so important. Listen carefully fellow Americans, because what Reaga is saying in 1989 is now coming true in 2011. Very sad

  • wow, i was a kid when he was in office...but this made me cry...and I'm a 34 year old guy!

lol not bad at all indeed

  • Ronald Reagan' is the greatest presdient ever this county

  • Proud to say he was my Commander-in-Chief. I salute his memory. He reminded us we ARE exceptional. We ARE winners. We are AMERICANS.

  • Such an inspiration. He really knew what being American was all about, what freedom was all about. Sadly, a man like this does not exsist in today's political world.

  • I was 17 when he was elected. I had no faith in this country. I was disillusioned with Carter's handling of the Iranian hostage crisis and when Selective Service was reinstated I had all but packed my bags for Canada. Then Reagan took office and I began to listen. Then I began to gain hope. Then came confidence. Then came patriotism. This man taught me what I had forgotten: Love of Country. I remembered I cried my eyes out when this was broadcast. Thank you, Mr. President, for your service.

  • @floydfreak63 I was also 17 and I also remember this. His warning were prophetic in a way. The great communicator! We need another Reagan!

  • "They called it the 'Reagan Revolution'...Well, I accept that."

  • Ronald Reagan is the last great president.

Obama and Bush (both) look like laughingstocks compared to him.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Ronald Reagan was a man who was not afraid to speak his mind & stand up for what he believed in. President Reagan was a true patriot to boot!

    I miss you, Ronnie.

    Ronald Wilson Reagan...1911-2004. Goodbye, Sir.

  • Two of the most important words in the entire speech: "Informed Patriotism". I miss Ronnie.

  • What a great President and a great man. We need someone with his mantle to rise up. We have the anti-thesis of Reagan in the White House now. America is still great because of Ronald Reagan's leadership. Let's vote the current POTUS out of office in 2012 while there is still hope.

  • this man is an inspiration

  • If you leave NYC by car or ship, the Liberty Statue seems smaller and smaller as the distance grows . President Reagan and his legacy is different : as the years go by, his figure is growing bigger and bigger, gradually dwarfing all his successors. God bless America !

  • 13 people do not believe in "We The People"

  • I wish I could have met him.

  • no has brought a nation more inspiration and pride then ronald Reagan ..it was a time of politics as usual but reagan brought america higher and believed in something greater..thats the problem with presidents today...they believe and stand for nothing but lies

  • By their fruits you will know them. Jesus said such. We need a man of honor and integrity to lead our country but it seems like reprobates have overtaken the country. Pray for your children that they will have a God fearing leader that will stand up for what is right and God help us that we will have leaders that love us as much as Ronald Wilson Reagan did.

  • jesus christ they dont make them like that anymore do they

  • @netoborito I was about to type almost the same thing until I noticed your comment.

  • wow so much different from Obama... I was born in 89 so of course I don't remember Reagan it seems like he was a great leader

  • Ronald Reagan was the man. Imagine if we we're able to find someone who is only half what President Regan was. Just think of what we could do today... We have bums running this country today. But not for long. The American People are waking up again. Some of us were fooled at the last election by a sham, and empty suit. Not again...... We will bring this country back to the greatness that Ronald Reagan left us in.... God Bless The United States Of America !!

  • 9 people are ignorant liberal friends who know so much that isn't so

  • wow. the end says it all about kids not knowing what it is to be free, and not knowing how special and unique it is in this world. This man called the future 20 years ago. The great communicator, The great forseer.

  • He was part of the Greatest Generation. He is a part of the reason his generation is named that. He was proud to have served as president. He never thought he DESERVED it. The attitude says everything. I got to grow up in a world without the USSR thanks to this great man.

  • Wow, words can not begin to explain the feeling inside. This is what a real President looks and sounds like. The presidents after him unraveled what he done. I echo others comments on the feeling of being American then and now. I remember flags everywhere home after home after home now not many. On your drive through your city pay attention to how many homes fly flags. Patriotism is a hard thing to find now. We need another president with this frame of mind or we will go as Rome has.

  • Im not even gonna lie this almost made me cry i mean look at america now nothing like reagens america no ones proud to live here anymore we have no moral and no confidence we need another reagan soon before its to late

  • This Man was a Great Patriot! I believe the Best president in history!

  • Not a Republican or even much of a political type person but there is a certain cool-factor about Reagan. He's seen as a big part of 80's pop-culture even in other parts of the world; Appearing in various things like Genesis' Land of Confusion music video, and as one of the Max Headroom style waiters in the Cafe 80's in Back to the Future Part II.

That said; I think it was so fitting and bittersweet Reagan's Presidency and the 80's ended together. It was too perfect not to be destiny.

  • We sure need him today! How do we go from Reagan who loved America to this joker we have in office who cant stand her. God help this nation!!

  • Maybe it was his acting career that taught him this, but The man always looked straight into the camera. In effect, He looked you right in the eye and told it how he saw it, Right or Wrong. Compare that to any of the Presidents since, They avoid looking the public in the eye because they know exactly what they are doing to the people. The eyes are the windows to the soul and this new batch of politicians hope we can't see through them. God Bless President Reagan!

  • The Great Communicator, A Great Man, A Great American, A Great President

A Man that saw America as "A Shining Light on A Hill"

  • "Freedom is special and rare. It's fragile." Great words from a great president. People don't talk like that any more these days. Sometime between te end of his term and now the whole world has gone to hell in a handbasket. Hopefully someone will step forward and lead us from precipice which we find ourselves anno 2011. RIP. When I get to wherever we go after death, Im buying this man a beer!

  • great speaker !

  • If nothing else, go to 11:00 and listen for 30 seconds.

  • God Bless America. And, this speech should be required listening to every political leader today. May God Bless Ronald Reagan's soul and may Our Great Nation find a Reagan-reborn in 2012.

  • I became a Reagan fan in 1976 and was later a proud member of the Reagan Revolution.

Thank you, President Reagan for giving the people their country back. Hopefully your words will stir us all to once again remind those who would use government to control us all that our government is based on those 3 words, "We The Prople."

  • thank you!!!!

  • Thank you, Mr. President. What would you say about today? Rest in Peace.

  • Very few people can make me cry..... Reagan can.

  • 90 million jobs...can't you imagine!!! Wish a president like him impacted our new decade. We need it. God Bless this Country...USA!

  • Ronald Reagan was the best President since Lincoln.. thats a fact

  • God Bless you, Ronald Reagan. I wish I grew up under your presidency!

  • Well my friend I was one of the lucky ones who grew up under Ronald Reagan presidency. I was in my early 20s living in Alaska, a boom bust state and we were busted. And then Reagan became president bringing in a conservative message, and it felt good.Tthe Iranians released the 400+ hostages that they've had for over a year on the he took office. Now that moment in time was a big boost for the country. Because we knew that we have elected the right man. That was special. The 80s were great!

  • No one can compare to this great man--the integrity; his love and optimism for America; and his ability to connect to the American people. He wasn't an elitist; he grew up in a poor family in the Heartland and made it to Hollywood with a little luck and a lot of perseverance. His story is one symbolic of the American Dream. As the years go on, history will no doubt look very kindly upon his presidency. God Bless you, President Reagan!

  • At 9:38, I like it how he said he was happy with his career in the entertainment world.

  • I miss Reagan, and I was only born in '85.

  • Every President we've had since, COMBINED, don't amount to a hair on this great man's ass!!! RIP, Gipper! We miss you and we need another!!!

  • @LynchColl94

and that person is Ron Paul.

  • The greatest president we ever had. Obama is nothing compared to him. Obama did nothing to help us and his term is nearing the end. We need a new president. A true leader that will put America up again as the wealthies and most powerful nation in the world again. Up top as world super power. Kepp china far behind

  • please dig up Uncle Ron

  • God Bless You Sir. We will never forget you, the greatest president in my lifetime. Common sense died after Reagan left office. God help us.

  • The TEA party believes in the real America, the America of Freedom, limited Government, fiscal responsibility. Conservatives will take this Country back to the real America!

  • Let us pray that the term "Freedom Man" will still apply to our American sailors or otherwise after the Progressive politics and George Soros has his way with us!!!! Pray we can find within ourselves the fortitude and strength that Ronald Reagan inspires to fight the battle we are most assuredly in for the freedoms of American way!! Let us once again be able to live in the "American Miracle" we have previously fought to have and retain in the United States of American for over 200 years!!!

  • Every moment of the 7 hours spent waiting to honor this man at the Capitol Rotunda was worth it.

It will be many years before another leader earns the same love and effort from so many of his/her fellow citizens. God Bless you and God keep you RR.

  • Just watched this video from my home up here in Canada. It's almost depressing to see the greatness of what America exemplified with this man and compare it with the America that exists today. The world needs America to find it's soul again. I pray for the day that it can find a man even half the character and integrity of Ronald Wilson Reagan and elect him president, for on that day we will truly have hope for the future. May God keep you always, Mr.President,in his everlasting embrace.

  • @ceilidhhope Amen. The strength of America is in our people. We're coming back, you can be sure of it. The Left will be vanquished.

  • @greengringo2003 God Bless my yankee comrade. I only hope either your Democratic party nominates Hillary Clinton as their nominee over the incumbent in 2012 or your Republican counterpart exalts a man with the grace and dignity of RWR.Not a big fan of Hillary but she'd be better than B.O. Unfortunately no GOP potential do i find inspiring. Also GOP seems to me has abandoned the working class. It's a millionaires club.I fear the GOP has lost it's soul. This is speaking as a trade union guy. IBB.

  • We have found a president that is approximately 'HALF' the man that this great man was. It's amazing that this was just 20 years ago.. times have not changed for the better..

  • Wow, what a speech. That is a statesman speaking. If only there were people of such conviction and with such oratory skills to make people proud of their countries today.

  • I remember how sad I was watching this live back then and thinking "DAMN! THIS SUCKS!"

  • It wasn't that long ago that Reagan was here. Now, look how far we have fallen, so quickly.

  • Those were some good times.

  • the best president of my life time. our country was blessed with him. i hope some day we can find some one to be half the man he was

  • @angelod111 ron paul!

  • Well..............I wish he was still here!!!!!!! This is the the antidote for Obamanomics isn't it? I really hope for the kids of today, and our pocketbooks in the future that the knucklehead in office now is a one-termer,,,,,,help us God.

  • please pray for another Reagan to pick up all the shattered pieces.

  • Obama would be sitting there, wearing a Hawaiian shirt, swearing, and talking about how ashamed he is of America. He would end his speech with an apology to some third world country. I hate Obama.

  • A real lidear of the world,a human and nice person.

  • Ronnie and Maggie....they sum up the 80's for me......FANTASTIC!!!

  • Wow. I nearly wept. I miss him dearly.

  • One big difference between Reagan and the presidents that came after him is that Reagan genuinely cared about this country and the American people. That has to be one of the major factors that made him a truly great president. I don't think Bush Sr, Clinton, and Bush Jr. cared as much. I definitely believe Obama doesn't care at all and is the most selfish one of all.

  • @LedWilde he wasnt a politician by nature...thats the key...haha

  • Great speech!! What happened to his hand?? It looks like he has a cast on it. Does anyone know?

  • When I think of the greatness of President Reagan, and then think of Barry Hussein Obama, I weep for the Shining City on the Hill.

  • Our last Great President. We love, admire and miss you Mr. President.

  • One of the 5 greatest Presidents in American history.

  • God bless this man. May he rest in peace.

  • So much respect for this precious man. We miss you, kind Sir.

  • America needs to elect a president that stands for everything America truly is. Forget hope and change. I want AMERICA. The America we knew as children. America stands for moving forward and getting better with age. Thank you, Mr. President, for moving America forward and giving us something to look forward to in the future. Go USA! God Bless America!

  • God Bless You Mr. President, and God Bless the United States of America !

  • who's the jerk that thumbed this down

  • I miss him :'(

  • This man is and was truely an icon for this country. We miss you Mr. President.

  • I missed him when he left from office!!! Even today I missed him ALOT!!! Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU, Mr. President!!!

  • this speech makes me want to scrap my toyotas and buy chevy dodge and ford

  • I am old, and it seems I will finish my life in this nightmare socialist scenario of President Obama's. How I long for the Reagan era now. Right now we can still remember him, and it gives us hope. Let's remember his determination, and fight back the way he did.

  • Reagan was a great man and a great president. I cannot believe he was 77 years old here, he looks like he was 55.

  • God Bless You, Mister President.

  • You are surely missed! I wish he could come back and be age 39. We could really use him again! God bless Ronald Reagan

  • So very far from what we have today. You can see that he actually cares about this country. "... California, and freedom..." We used to talk about freedom and liberty. It meant something. Now, It's all about personal radical agenda. No longer about We The People. Sad.

  • If we lose our history we will lose our freedom for this is the last beacon of hope. If history is truly lost may we take down all the statutes and remove the Liberty Bell for they would serve to remind us only of a freedom that once was.

  • If the American Republic and her Constitution should endure a thousand years, they will say, "We shall not see his like again."

    God bless you, Mr. President.

  • God Bless Ronnie he understood the true purpose of the Presidency and the Constitution. He is sorely missed.

  • One can only conclude that God gave this man to America. Where are men like this today.

  • Every American needs to see this

  • This guy could really talk and disarm you with his style. And he'd get your absolute attention as well.

A great man, a worthy President

  • Ronald Regan is more than a Excellent president. HE is GOD!!!!!!!!!!! RIP for he will never be forgotten.

  • plus he let many illegals become legal through amnesty. don't see republicans do that everyday. this guy is awsome. Love you Mr Reagan.

newphew of one of those granted amnsesty.

  • @louie77

Back then the problem was on a far smaller scale. Granting amnesty now to the millions of illegals would not be a route Reagan would take, in my opinion. We welcome immigrants who come here LEGALLY.

  • Man. Many a time watching this clip, a tear comes to my eye. He really SOUNDS like he's saying goodbye....

And the last shot, as the camera pulls back, makes me want to scream, "Come back! We need you, Reagan--we need you now, more than ever!!! Don't go...please...."

  • @RushLimborg lol god i like that post... its tough to not tear up during his speeches, and im only 21 years old. i just dont understand why other people (leftists) dont get it... what is wrong with saying our country is the greatest, most prosperous in the world? what is wrong with that?! i just dont get it.... are they just dependent on govt or what? thanks for your post and god bless reagan, his family and anyone like him in the world.

  • @RushLimborg We all miss Ronny, but I am right there with you. Rest in Peace Ronny. You deserve it!

  • We may not have Ronald Reagan to save us now... but anyone would be better then The Bama in 2012. Please... people of the United States.. vote OBama out of office in 2012.. SAVE America !

  • Dear God in Heaven give us another man of Reagan's ilk to lead and guide our once great land, & also save us from the current communist thugs in this current administration!

  • Not just "anyone" is better than Obama. There are plenty of others to take his place that are as bad or worse. Sarah Palin's beliefs are as close as we can get right now, to what Reagan stood for. It sure as heck isn't the RINO John McCain.

  • @bigstretch100 bigstretch100, I think Congressman Paul Ryan is the person you speak of. I fully support Sarah Palin, but I think Ryan has the ability to communicate these beliefs in a way that come across closest to Reagan.

  • You dont know what you got till it is gone!!

We need Ronald Reagan right now.

RIP President Reagan!!You are missed by many..

  • More so when you see what we have in politics today. We have a goverment wanting to run us and not WE THE PEOPLE..... God bless the life of Ronald Reagon!!! Your true leadership is missed greatly
