Not all people with Autism can play the piano, do math and are exempted from doing english. Some have significant cognative issues that impact their learning, social and behavior. I would cure it in a heart beat if I could.
This young man is wonderful not only because he has Autism but because he has a talent and a gift.
@FenrirLupus couldn't agree more !! :) autistic persons are just amazing in every sense ! they have capabilities "normal" people just wish to have. but people want everybody to be alike... so they want to change what is almost perfect, into normal. Did u ever see Esther Hick's video on autism ? its amazing :) best wishes dear :))) Love u <3
@FenrirLupus i totally agree, i have quote "adhd and bipolar" but thats who i am and society needs to STOP labeling people with all of these bullshit disorders.. bipolar is a stereotype now and i feel violent when i hear it used that way. people.. children are TOO IMPRESSIONABLE and putting a LABEL on them is worse and does more damage than the actual quote "disorder or illness" that any individual is diagnosed with. i know thats how it worked for me. this :"quarentined" group of society...
... needs to be set free, each person has different things they need help with so i say help them, give the assistance we can and stop broadcasting that and making such a big frickin deal about it!
autism cure? But as for a 9 yr old playing like this its not rare.Look all over utube an the web its common. It would be more impressive if he were reading notes.I teach a 9 yr old girl who can play harder pieces by ear an by remembering all the keys I strike.A proper teacher will channel any talent and teach him what he cant watch in videos.Timing, pedal use,and note reading. Its far more than just striking keys.Emily Bear is a real prodigy and has a teacher. You may have a good player you never knw
I met a friend of a friend of yours at my daughter's audition for Bak Middle school of the arts in West Palm Beach. She used to live in NJ .In any case Brianna, who is now 11 and is a Triplet who is also autistic and she also plays by ear like Brandon. Its amazing She sings too We have her singing videos on you tube under Brianna Goldman but not her piano yet. Feel free to check it out.
Autism is not something that needs to be cured. It is something that we need to embrace and celebrate. Unfortunately society has taught us to conform to the norm rather that stand out, rather than buck the trend. I have two autistic children and everyday I spend with them my life is both enriched and (pause) challenged by the day to day things that we all so easily take for graned. I have learned to appreciate the most seemingly miniscule things in life. Cure autism? NO. Embrace Autism
If we could understand how he learned it then we could possibly cure Autism. Many of these children have the ability to do things that the "typical" person could never do. He has never had a lesson and twice we have tried and they don't know how to teach him. He learns simply by listening to the music and watching musicians fingers playing classical music on You Tube....He is gifted and we hope he can channel his crazy world of Autism into something wonderful. Amy Smith (his mother)
Actually there was a study: even if they were able to cure autism, they would loose that certain ability. Seeing as how certain vaccines damage the brain, since your son's brain activity is focused on the lower right side of the brain which is where music is located he would loose that ability if the cure were to focus on the other parts. My sister is autistic and she can paint or weave or anything that has deal with literature or art.
@absmith6 well i am like your son and i am all most 50,i was not helped as now one knew when i was young i was just sent to this special school in the 70, at 9 to 16..my interests are psychology, i have always been keen on it also music i sing tennor and i can add lib with 13 singers and it always works out and i dont read music.i dont know my times tables but i remember all the morse code i am a radio ham and i restore vintage radios with tubes in ...jeff..48 aspie..it to 40 min to learn morse
@absmith6 autism is a condition with many conditions along with it, poor hand eye coordination, anxiety disorder, over sensory issues, so if we cure autism we have to start by curing anxiety and panic disorder, then find a way to cure poor hand eye coordination, gastrointestinal problems and so on, but as the video shows autism has gifts, his ear is so developed that he can hear a difference in the tones were others cannot, his brain has so much detail others dont pick up and has a memory!
@absmith6 I have mild autism and I play piano by ear and draw realistic faces without lessons, its bc our brains pick up so much detail, thats why its hard for him to look you in the eye bc all of the detail we take in of a persons face and voice, autism means his brain is completely different. He has abilities he might not have if he didnt have autism, as much as we want autism to get better, we dont wanna cure genius abilities it comes with. Continue to let him play and see what happens!
@absmith6 Also playing piano will have ease his symptoms of anxiety, it helps with hand eye coordination as well and will work areas of the brain that are under developed, and even though autism doesnt go away symptoms can get better with time and work. His playing may also be the result of something called synthesthesia, when senses are so over heightened that they clash, smells and tastes he can pick up better than others as well, another reason why some kids with autism are picky eaters
Amy, no offense meant by this, but understanding how autistic savants 'learn' isn't going to lead to a cure. It's less about learning and more about inherent knowledge of the structures involved. Your son has a complex, innate understanding of the structures behind this tonal music, have you ever tried having him listen to an atonal piece and seeing if he can replicate? His understanding of and ability with music with such skill is rule-dependant; similar to 'calendric calculators'
@jakeyboi857 yea he is amazing huh! bc of his autism his ear is so developed that he can hear a difference in the notes were others cannot, im also and autistic pianist, I compose music as well, I have tried to learn theory but its difficult!
ik him! :)
