  • finally i can cook my old pots and pans with out burning my hand on the handle :D

  • there is some utility to seeing inside while cooking. you can tell if the heat is too high or low w/o losing heat/steam lifting the lid. I have a 6qt pot. Works fine.

  • it scared me but it's really useful..

  • For some reason this commercial makes me feel very nostalgic.

  • @JoJoTheModern yes, because today they'd try to sell you on it by having a woman in a thong making sex noises and treating a man as if a retarded child...

  • I had to shatter (but nit explode). One while I tried to sauté frozen salmon and the other because I hit two against each other. They are great for cooking with no chemicals, but you have to be careful with these

  • Still have a few of these, great pots. Great for soup, and they clean up easy.

  • Never had one explode in the many years I have owned several of these - two skillets and 4 pots. I've taken a pot right off the stove and stuck it on the metal floor of the freezer.. Nothing happens! They are great for cooking on the stove, then storing in the fridge, and then reheating in the microwave - even if you don't care about seeing your food cook. I use a propane gas stove, so if I happen to run out of propane, just throw it in the microwave.

  • Are you shittin' me?

  • I've been using my Visions pots for 25 years, and they have never "shattered" or exploded in my hands. They only break when you would expect them to break, like if you drop them or drop something on them. I wish Corning would start making them again!

  • @donnadecember thank you for the infos, i do not also why, my aunts have such and they di not crack out, when i visit the philippines again i would buy one, it is cheaper there, and i can find them on local department store on the kitchen's department, i have ask also my sister in canada and she saw some by fleamarket, funny though....

  • All I know is those fuckers look awesome with a 30-06 bullet ripping through them.

  • MY BLADDER WON'T CLOSE!!

  • Wow, how does the heat not transfer to the handle?

  • @johnlovesbridge The heat does transfer if you're cooking something for more than a few minutes. Then you'll need a potholder to protect your hands. If you're just cooking something for a few minutes, the handle will not heat up.

  • Although they had good heat distribution, these things are dangerous. I had one shatter after coming out of the oven and they do literally explode.

  • My favorite part is when they show those clear pots.

  • ...who's cooking at temperatures high enough to reduce a pot to molten metal?! >>

  • LOL

  • I do.

  • No one I ever knew regretted buying and using Corning. It is one of the finest made-in-the USA products! I will always buy this product and will encourage others to do so too.

  • i am planning to buy one, but i've heard so much things online about it that it crack out while cooking, but my aunt has a set of it, and until now she is using it without having troubles, i think it is just proper use and handling, i love it really...

  • @jockeyhanes I love mine! They do not crack while you are cooking, unless you cook by hitting your pots with a hammer. Seriously, I don't know why people are saying they shatter or explode. I've had mine for 25 years, and I love them. Corning stopped making Visions, but you can find used ones on eBay.

  • My family had that Visions cookware. Quite possibly the most durable cook ware of all time. My Uncle even works for Corning.

  • Weren't they removed from the market because they tended to explode?

  • They might have been. All I know is my family used it for years and nothing happened to them. Although you would think, heating up glass on a stove would be pretty damn dangerous right? lol

  • I don't think so. This stuff is tough. You wouldn't be able to do what they showed in the video with Anchor Hocking or any other glass ware (except for original Corningware)

  • Wow, it's awesome you had and uploaded this! I was looking for it because I thought "Tubular Bells" (The theme to The Exorcist) was used in this commercial - it really sounds like it right at the beginning, but then goes into something totally different.

Back in '83 this seemed revolutionary, but knowing all we know about microwave cooking now, you look at that and instinctively picturing it cracking then breaking apart. That really takes the fun out of watching stuff cook.

  • "Made of a revolutionary material"

    Glass?

  • Glass ceramic.

  • I still wouldn't go so far as to say 'revolutionary'.

  • Those are nice. Ahmburger helper does nice in those!!!!

  • Wow how bout that microwave lol!

  • Well, in the interest of health, glass fry pans and cookware reduces metal accumulation in your organs. Many people are searching for this alternative now. Apparantely there's an outlet store.

  • My grandma has those.

  • aye my mum used to have a big vision pot but it shattered right in front of her when she was making soup with it.

  • I knew it!

  • wow thats scary

  • They still make this awful line of cookware. Even though there are countless disclaimers about their unreliability.

But at least you can see the water boil from the SIDE too!

  • huh where did u get these commercial from

  • I captured them from some old VHS tapes... I used to record lots of shows back then. Thankfully, the commercials came with em!

  • Wow! Strange!

  • My mother has those. She got rid of them when she got a ceramic range
