I was at this show it was so fuckin amazing East Rutherford NJ, giant's stadium, 2003. Hail to the Thief was not yet released! It came out right after this. I was an instant fan after seeing this show.
Me and my buddies went to this show. 1st time seeing radiohead. It rained all day and finally the skies cleared right before Radiohead came on. Beck got hurt by a stage hand and couldn't go on so Beastie Boys played an extended, very sloppy set. Radiohead made it worth the drive from Virginia. I found the sound board a while back too if anyone wants it.
i remember when this show was orig supposed to be a 3 day event with camping until the town's people voted against it last minute and the organizers relocted to giants stadium a day or 2 before the date......it was a torrential downpour that day...we waited hours in the rain .....miraculously the rain subsided when radiohead finally took the stage....
i was at this show and it was 100% completely amazing!!!! despite all of the drama of this entire day it was honestly one of the best shows i have EVER been to. radiohead will forever be one of my most favorite bands and this show most definitely sealed the deal!!!!
thom is very entertaining to watch, he's even more bouncy than usual during this concert. look at the way he's dancing around at the beginning of national anthem. i do miss the other guys though, cool concert besides that.
this is a great concert and i really love it but it kind of feels like watching a thom yorke solo show lol. i miss jonny, ed, and colin. thom is so bouncy in this concert, he's very entertaining to watch.
I was there. I remember it being really cold, everything was wet, all the big Beck fans were pissed that he wouldn't go on and the Beastie Boys barely played any hits, and there mics were muffled. When Radiohead started playing it was like the clouds parted. they played forever. <3

that intro song is rad. I saw them during this tour era. I remember the stage with all these lights shooting out of it and the song playing....then see radiohead walking out to it. crazy.
Aaww, I miss Colin, Ed and Jonny so much!!... But looking at the bright side, it's so nice to see Phil for the whole songs!! I'm amazed!! ... And Thom of course sublime as always... Thank you so much AustinBrock!! :D
Fantastic. Still, I dunno why they always seemed to open with There There on this tour. Doesn't have the kind of immediate punch that I feel openers should have.
I reckon Idioteque would have been a better one to open with, 'cause the drums at the start are really bass heavy and powerful. Setting a mood, like.
I guess they wanted to open with "There there" instead of for example "Idioteque" because of them probably wanting to play something from their (back then) new album straight away.
If that was the case I probably would have chosen "2+2=5" instead though.
There There was the first single released from Hail To The Thief and that's the explanation. At that time, There There was the biggest hit from Hail To The Thief.
Yes, I know that. I bought the album when it came out. Still, "2+2=5" seems to me as a better opener for a concert, and also a great opener for the album as well. I could figure out the reason myself for why they opened with "There there" instead, but thanks anyway for trying to explain. Can't blame you for not knowing what I did or did not know about it I guess.
@stillilllife On the HTTT tour they sometimes opened their shows with 2plus2 and sometimes even The Gloaming, but it was mostly There There as an opener
i was there when they played this. it rained the whole day. i thats why he was talking about the rain. they played for two hours. beck didn't play because it rained so hard that he broke his ankle. i was bummed about that. but radiohead made up for that hardcore!

Maybe they opened this show (plus many others) because THEY like the song.

Of course, I don't doubt that. I don't think they disliked any of the songs they played at this show.
