This song is the bane of my existence. I work from home and I'm subjected to this repeatedly loudly for several minutes on end three times a day every single day throughout most of the year. It's all I can do to keep from setting up landmines. And I live in a (normally) quiet subdivision, not a noisy city.
Mr. Softee can't be caught. He's like a ninja that taunts you with his jingle,only to not be found when you get there. Check out my video response! I wish he would sit there that long in my neighborhood.

I yell at him to lower the volume and being that he can't speak a word of English, He does'nt get the point to fuck off already. call 311 as a noise complaint and they say I have to contact consumer affairs because theres nothing NYPD can do.

You are right, it was a police order with the noise limit in NYC that a ice cream truck that is COMMERCIALY REGISTERED is not supposed to play any music while stationary.

@carlinrulez666 Well, I only have a problem with the fact that the driver BLASTS the tune so loud that it's distorted. At that sound level, it can't be enjoyed, and it becomes irritating. I also used to enjoy hearing it as a kid and it does bring back so manny memmories. Now in the future, my additional memmories are about being blasted out by the Icecream predator!

Calling 311 will put your compliant through to the EPA, which will investigate the complaint. Be sure to have the license plate number, vendor name, and time of day they usually appear. Also be sure to leave your info and let them know that you have video evidence.

I grew up in Detroit and we had Mr Softee. I remember Paul G running out in front of the truck one time before it stopped and I saw him fly about 4 feet! Wow... long time since I heard this tune.... 1969? Over 40 yrs now.

You are right, it was a police order with the noise limit in NYC that a ice cream truck that is COMMERCIALY REGISTERED is not supposed to play any music while stationary.

I haven't hung out in a neighborhood in NYC in too long, and I'm smiling EAR TO EAR listening to the Mr Softee song. That sound is an NY icon, and if Mr Softee ever stops playing it or goes out of biz, the city should set up speakers on corners, and play the song in random 20 min intervals 2-3 times a day. Noise pollution. I abhor any vehicle blaring music and there should laws banning it. Then someone stops the truck to make a purchase and the music keeps repeating until your head explodes. Eff off Mister Softee!. Can you image if every commercial vehicle started playing commercials? This is actually a good example of the famous Pavlo's Dog" experiment which proved a conditioned response. Daddy! Daddy! I want ice cream!

As annoying as this sound might be for some people (especially, New Yorkers who also have to here sirens, loud people and loud music), it may be brief moment of peace and enjoyment for city kids.
I live now in a quiet suburban neighborhood. I rarely ever here or see an ice cream truck! However, just last week I heard for the first time "Mr Softee" and I immediately was drawn to look out my window.
It did sound nice to hear :-)
