Denard Robinson is not a good quarterback. but somehow he puts up yards and points, so he'll get the start. Im not a fan of Devin Gardner either. His throwing mechanics are horrible. I wish we were in a position to start Russel Bellomy
Yea, your missing quite a few of his plays, ones that include his TD pass and his 60 yard TD run. this is more like a video made to make him look bad.
I think he took a medical red shirt. good thing too, cause he does not look very good. lotta raw talent. his throwing motion looks like vince youngs. hopefuly he can get a lot better watching d-rob and tate.
@hewster1369 It's called "Temptation." Believe it or not, this is what the Michigan Marching Band plays every fourth down. Their version is a bit more high powered.
Looked a bit like Forcier from last year didn't he? With the frantic scrambling and the last ditch effort chucks for throws and the fumbles. I'm not knocking either at all because any of those things are understandable for a true Freshman. Devin has amazing potential and if anybody else saw how much better Denard Robinson got over this past offseason, its obvious that Devin with mature and become much better
@takeurlumps look like pryor i dont know what u mean by that considering pryor is a choke artist and wasted potential who will never live up to his hype eh em penn state
REDSHIRT first year then he can be the true starter after forcier and robinson graduate.. Hell get 2 years starting after 3 years of taking time to develop as a College QB.. Hes an amazing player thats for sure
to be honest i dont think offense is any problem with us (michigan). avg 30 points a game and go 5-7 is just BS defense is our problem. Rich Rod doesnt go all out in recruiting for defense and im not a big fan of robinson i know hes had good defenses in the past but hes to passive for my liking.
I like devin Gardner I think he has huge upside but I think ppl need to relax when saying that he's going to save the program. I think he needs to bulk up a bit but hopefully when the time comes he can bring the same impact that terrelle Pryor bought to ohomo state
Offense will produce...as long as both QBs stay on even slates as in performance. They are human, fuckups will happen. Defense to me is to worry unless that D Line and the Spinners and rush LB make somethin happen.
The first two snaps are awful, but there is a lot of potential there. Wish we had some traditional michigan WR's for him to throw to, but I think roundtree could have a big year
dont forget hes using the 2nd team WR's, so expect more drops from the WR's that usually sit the bench, roundree, stonum, koger, ricardo, will have great years and maybe odoms
Why?!? every year, michigan can't never get a decent WR. how many dropped passes were in that video. the one that really got me mad was the one in the opened field at 2:00. the last good WR was super mario.
Gardner looks very promising, Many of the incompletes were droppd passes. Even thou there was no conact on the QBs they all improved. I recomend redshirt so by Gardner's soph year he'll be able to start. Defense looked better. last year they got torched by the offense. any people especially sparty fans r overlookng Um's defense.
Uhhh ok his first time in front of 30,000 plus people, he has been at UM at that point for what? 3 months and only 1 month of that was spent in pads. Oh, and he was playing a lot of the 1's.
Almost every new quarterback looks like this. Gardner should be thinking about prom and stuff right now and he's being chucked out in front of tens of thousands of people and pressured to be perfect.
Check out the two or three sweet passes he DID throw...if he can get 80% or so of his passes to look like that, he'll be a Heisman winner. That's really all it is...eliminating mistakes.
with that music... they all look terrible out there. The dropped passes, the awful interception, the almost fumble, the bobbling of the ball... what is goin' on?!
2) The interception was after Gardner should have been ruled down by contact (red jerseys). He tried to Mallett it, and that's what happens.
3) "almost" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
4) If you paid attention to the passes he DID complete, he put a beautiful touch on them. He's also a strong runner, which is the key part of Rod's offense.
2) so instead of an interception it should have been a safety? Ok... that makes it a lot better.
3) I mispoke. It was a fumble and Gardner was LUCKY that it wasn't a turnover.
4) Denard Robinson AND Tate Forcier throw the ball just as well as Gardner did.
If Devin Gardner ISN'T redshirted next season, I SERIOUSLY have to question Rich Rod's judgement because passing up having Gardner for 2 years after Tate and Denard graduate would be a huge mistake.
@TheZooCrew well... Rich Rod doesn't seem to think it's that obvious of a decision. He says that Gardner is in the running for the starting position... which is just stupid.
2) Do you really want Rod telling the media anything more than just vague remarks? Don't forget what the media has done to Michigan these past couple of years. I prefer Fort Schembechler to press conferences.
3) I don't pretend to know as much about football as Rod.
4) Remember, Carlos Brown looked like Tyrone Wheatley at last year's spring game, and the year before that David Cone looked like Peyton Manning.
2) valid... although this doesn't mean that Rich Rod ISN'T considering starting DG by any means. It just means Rich Rod press conferences are worthless.
Coachspeak means that the coach is using terminology that we may or may not understand. Usually they're going soft on people...like when a coach says "he's competing well" or "he's doing some good things," he usually means "he's getting better, but not starter quality yet." I played a lot of sports in high school, and that's how it went.
Spring game Heisman winners usually look a little (or a lot) less impressive in the season.
Denard Robinson is not a good quarterback. but somehow he puts up yards and points, so he'll get the start. Im not a fan of Devin Gardner either. His throwing mechanics are horrible. I wish we were in a position to start Russel Bellomy
