The thing that gets me upset about the whole series is that more people first think of SVU, not the original show.

@godzillahulk Well, what can you expect? It's the most consistent version of the franchise. Look at the beginning cast for all of the other series by the time you get to the current cast, they're virtually unrecognizable. SVU's cast though has managed to go through fewer cast changes which keeps the viewers interested, unfortunately, I feel that with Chris Meloni leaving and Mariska leaving soon, SVU will go down that same path.

@willyjcoe But if you put both shows at their peaks, L&O beats SVU by a mile. Jerry Orbach and Christopher Noth were a better pairing than Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay.

B.D Wong, not really important, but okay I like Jurassic Park, but the freaking ME? C'mon? WHy not just add the SCU's and the lab techs and the uniforms and the ESU officers as well? Might as well call it Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Criminal Minds and Quincy<--(classic tv show about a coroner)

And the plot for the episodes gotten very soapy from season 8 to 12.

One reason I love this show is because so many actors from the Very famous to the "just starting out" actors have been cast on here. The cast has always been diverse, the subjects on ALL shows have been on topics that pretty much anyone can relate on. This show is pure genius. I love seeing shows like this that break barriers for what kind of shows are on tv. It pretty much created a generation.

Theme song means nothing. None of the shows use the exact same theme song as each other. Each has its own version. The fact that its called "Law and Order" is enough for me to include it with all the other cops shows which use the title "Law and Order" Its the same brand just a different taste.

It was a spinoff back in 2005 that lasted 12 episodes until it was cancelled. A 13th episode aired on CourtTV which is now TruTV. The show revolved around the trials and the work of the prosecutors and the defense lawyers. Jerry Orbach was a main cast member on the show for only two episodes until he passed away in December 2004 and was replaced by Scott Cohen. The show's theme song has since been on Criminal Intent (since it's 7th season).
