This footage looks as sharp and beautifully rendered as any of the Canon C300 footage I've seen (like Philip Bloom's Mont St Michael video). The snow is so clear and would challenge many video cameras to capture so clearly.
@mikesong0323 Based on the DPreview scene file tests for dynamic range, and against all the current conventional wisdom of the GH2 community -- I'm using "Standard." The low compression files of the hacked streams allow me to pull two to three stops of usable detail out of the shadows. "Cinema" mode is a hoax for consumers, and "Nostalgia" is far too noisy -- meaning you can pull LESS usable detail out of shadows.
@drewnetwork Thank you for sharing, sir. I'm reading a whole bunch of 'opinions' online as to what film mode to use to achieve the flattest image, but haven't had the chance to try them myself. I feel like this is a case in which the many options are giving me more of a headache than a benefit.
@mikesong0323 It looks like I forgot to include -2, -2, -2, -2. Although, in the past few days I pushed saturation up to 0. -2 on the sharpness and contrast is the biggest deal. This is a vast essay and there's a lot of bad information out there -- so I'll avoid the essay by just saying -- "trust me." I've played with -1 on the noise reduction, but find noise reduction only helps at very high ISO's, BUT may do more damage than help. Look into "Neat Video" that appears to be working well.
Hey Drewnetwork! I'll be nice. You do take pretty pictures. We're jealous of your greatness & look to you for leadership. And you got us stumped. We don't recognize the music. Hey there's Kookiemoose underneath us! Wait that sounds wrong. We'll agree with him & hit Like.
Beauty footage. We all got hit with the same storm here in DC. At least a little anyway. Gigantic flakes almost the size of IHOP Silver Dollar Pancakes. The opening shot was excellent.
the feather markings give the illusion of having eyes in the back of the bird's heads... could've used that ablility at my last job (boss always sneakin' up behind me)

Nice. Even my dog started watching intently when the birds were on.
