okay, point 1) you can make a counter-claim, you know. Often times, videos are flagged by trolls and then removed by moderators who don't know what the fuck they're doing. That's why you have the right to inform YouTube as to why the video was perfectly legal. 2) You say that they don't release anime in season sets, then later talk of Funimation and Viz's success? Right.... Also, Toei had every right to be mad over One Piece, 'cause Funi got careless and just allowed it to get pirated earlier.

and point 3) the Japanese don't even handle the localization. All they do is sell the rights off to a local company who does. Besides which, on what basis are you judging the subtitles? I mean, fair enough if you notice that they're riddled with typos, but do you actually know enough Japanese to tell when they're mistranslated? Because I do, and from what I've seen, official subs have a tendency to be pretty accurate.

Overall, this vid fails. A thumb down for you.

2 was more of a problem in the past that they are moving away from.

For 3, the Japanese should be moving toward having more participation in the process. We're at the point where anime should be treated as a global product. Also, there are instances where the Japanese have, such as Toei and Bandai.

@neverchris There are a lot of random one-off instances of bad subtitles or you get weird problems like names getting mixed up, people getting called by the wrong part of their name, etc. with things like the Honey and Clover DVD release and some of the previous Toei DVD releases.

There is definite lack of communication between the Japanese and U.S. markets as far as anime is concerned. While I think what may be helping their cause is the release of anime related video games and Funimation it's kind of a fact that the anime market hasn't always been popular here in the U.S. I mean even the stigma here in the U.S. is that cartoons are more for children than adults. Even though cartoons have gotten more recognition here there mainly stuff like Family Guy or The Simpsons.

I don't often watch anime (b'coz of hackneyed highschool girls' theme & overly done melodramatic scenes) today. I prefer action-based tokusatsu. Weird but fun to watch (at least it had more action in it). That's because the voicing sounds better. Funimation sends people with kiddy voice to dub animes. Also, the original voicing is exactly how the directors envisioned the character's voice is.

My only complaint about the Japanese Anime industry is when they animate a manga and they make 26 - 52 episodes and stop animating it and let the manga go on. I remember that back then, companies did licensed anime even for young ages. Kodomomuke titles, they were called. They were below Shounen and Shoujo. Now is not the case, and because of it, many Fan-Freaks believe Japanese fiction to be only for teens and adults and not for kids at all.

That's very true and another good idea for a rant. Even further than things like shinigami, which you can kind of make a case for translating, they have people whose entire job is to "punch up" the script, completely changing meanings and inflictions if they think their modifications are clever enough. Many "professional" translators are just as guilty for guessing translations as well.

Uhhh, well, actually, the raw manga never actually confirms Crona's gender. It's supposed to be ambiguous. No one knows for sure. Unfortunately, English requires gender specification for sentences to carry out properly, so that's probably why they decided to specify.
