A fantastic compilation and one I watch regularly.
Paul Scholes made a me football fan growing up. The first game I ever went to at Old Trafford back in 1997 was against Feyenoord, Scholes scored a beautiful volley (Actually it's the goal at 2:57 ) and admired him ever since.
We all watched him grow from young striker, to attacking midfielder to a magnificent deep-lying playmaker.
Paul Scholes is my favourite player of all time, he made me love football, and for that I thank him.
this video doesnt do scholsey any justice... it wasnt really his goal scoring abilities that separated him from everyone else, it was his playmaking ability... he read the game perfectly, his calmness on the ball, his vision, his agression... he was the complete playmaker who just so happened to have an amazing shot on him!
I know this is a bit out there, but Paul Scholes reminds me very much of samwise gamgee from lord of rings: dependable, brave, resilient, exceptional, and a lot lot better than he thought he actually was. A true English hero.
@ruxtonc666 Haha. I am very emotional when it comes to football and to the team I love. I cried in private because everybody would have laughed at me.. Haha
There is no doubt that scholes is better than gerrard. Gerrard is hugely overrated by the media and his own fans. Bye scholes the best player of my generation :,(
What an absolute genius he was, nobody mastered the volley like he did. His long range passing had pin point accuracy. There are plenty of reasons to admire paul scholes but for me it's how he conducted himself on and off the pitch that mattered. With all the money and limelight that goes with being a top player, it's easy to get a huge ego, but this was never the case with scholes he just loved to play the game. He is up there with charlton. A great player and humble gentleman.
Excellent video. Brilliantly choriographed and great work putting it all together with such geniusness. Well done.
Thank you Paul Scholes for everything you have helped the Red Devils achieve. You were, without a doubt, the best playmaker of your generation and in modern history. Your finishing was top-class and your goals and passes and overall comfort on the ball will never be forgotten. Much respect.
@JamzzFX, For me Scholes is better than Gerrard because when I see he playing, he is skillful, intelligence and so creative like Xavi do at Barcelona. So, he can defensive, attack, scores and his passing is great. Judge by the style of his play including assist, scores, inspiration, creativity, and so on..
@JamzzFX youve clearly never watched scholes play. scholes accoplished more in his final season than Gerrard has accoplished in his entire career. gerrard hasnt ever been the best midfielder on mersyside (xabi alonso, merieles, cahill, arteta etc), let alone england, and your trying to tell me hes 'far better' than the ginger prince? stop embarrassing yourself.
@jamo711 you are a fucking idiot. of course hes better than merieles and you cant compare him to any everton player, you obviously havent seen gerrard.
@JamzzFX i have seen gerrard play and he is fucking useless, i would take merieles over him all day. i would take scholes over both of them because Scholes is the greatest midfielder in Premier League history.
@jamo711 You are a complete idiot. The ammount of times gerrard has won games by himself. And he is far from the greatest midfielder in PL history. I doubt youve ever been to anfield or old traffor and seen them play. It says your from austrailia, nice glory supporting.
@JamzzFX glory supporting? waking up every saturday at 1am to watch the sport and team i love is hardly glory supporting. any way why the fuck are you even watching scholes videos if you think hes shit? your just a dumbfuck scouser, trying to stir up trouble. plently of gerrard on youtube to get your dick wet.
Crap. Scholes fantastic but NOT the GREATEST and this is the reason why ENGLAND footballers arent doing well in INT games, because the media SPOILS them, the same hapened to w.Roonie and many others. If you say Scholes was the Greatest what will you say to for example Zizou ? Keep in mind am not against Manchester or England am just an honest football fan.
@stivebrown I agree about eng, media part. English talents are overrated in 90%. But Paul Scholes wasn't. He was great midfielder and even better person. Today was his last game, and what game it was. And that part when he didn't want to take penalty just speaks about his modesty and greatness. Paul Scholes, one of true legends of football.
@LingLingTheUltimate We are together i guess remember i said Scholes has always been Fantastic footballer and a Great person as you said, But its toomuch to say the Greatest midfider of whatever all time, that is where i have problem with....but i will agree if someone say he is one of the greatest and not The greatest...
without the class of 92 united is just differnt.. dont get me wrong i still love the club with all my heart but its just not the same and this is probs giggys last year so after that its done the class of 92 the best team in the history of football ever for the best team in the world
All the glowing tributes from some of the greatest players to have ever played the beautiful game attributed to scholsey, has been well deserved. I find it a travesty that he has never won any of the individual wards, espeicially considering the clowns who were nominated this season. PAUL SCHOLES FOR SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR.
gunna be hard to get back into next season thinking that paul scholes wont be there, i dont even support united but he is my fav player simply because he is the greatest
I don't think it's because he's a genius that he was that good, I think it was through the hard work and dedication to the sport that he was such an amazing player.
P.s - the location of the 11 people who disliked this video. Liverpool. Liverpool. Liverpool. Liverpool. Liverpool. Liverpool. Liverpool. Liverpool. Liverpool. Liverpool. Oh and Liverpool.
First of all, what a fantastic video! great choice of music and great clips. Secondly, i've been a season ticket holder at Old Trafford for over 40 years and Paul Scholes is without doubt the most complete, naturally gifted footballer i've ever seen and that's a HUGE compliment considering the players i've watched, cantona, beckham, ronaldo, robson, hughes etc. Best passer of the ball in world football let alone england. Just pure genius really. Going to be sorely missed, we love you Scholesey.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. If he was Spanish we would talk about him in the same bracket as Xavi. Shame the English media didn't realise just how good he was.
Thanks scholesey for the memories, i still remember going OT for the first time back in the mid 90's and seeing him play with cantona and co. You will be missed
Also just for the record I think Scholes is a great player, a true Man Utd legend. I just happen to think another player is better. Its a shame that people are so closed minded and ignorant about footballers who don't player for their club. Kudos to whoever put the video together, it was also great.
tấn công + phòng thủ đều toàn diện . kiểm soát bóng, chuyền, chọc khe, chuyền dài , cản phá thu hồi bóng, giữ nhịp , sút xa bóng sống . là 1 cầu thủ có thể gây đột biến rất cao lại đá ở trung tâm nữa . quá hoàn hảo
@beazlife09 As a Chelsea fan I'm struggling to see why you've tried to put us under a minority label who cannot appreciate the qualities of a true English great. If it wasn't for weak England managers and player power, there would be no "Gerrard and Lampard" problem, one of them would be warming the bench. Furthermore, I think Leeds, Liverpool and City fans are more likely to dislike this than the three clubs you mentioned... but it's nice to see you know your football :s
Although it is sad that he's no longer playing, he's left Man U and England supporters with some great memories and a good few trophies. He was a great player at club and international level, and we haven't got many of that type these days. World class. Seemed like a decent bloke too!
The greatest player i've ever seen in the flesh? Probably. It gets said enough, but any player who wants to turn out the right way and be the very best they can possible be - follow the Paul Scholes blueprint of focusing 110% on your football and your family. For me, the best player of the Premier League generation. Also, fantastic video mate, thank you very much!
this is a brilliant and professionally made tribute, johanceder. The passing bit in the middle and the juve tie booking is excellent. Clearly not one of those house-music crap lying around in here.
gooner here. sad to see scholes retire. not only was he a great footballer but his personality was unique. he wasnt interested in taking the headlines and the back covers like other players. he was englands equivalent of zidane or xavi. with a great number of medals mixed with a great character u just wish there were more like him playing in the EPL.
legend, hero, model, all time great, idol...you get the picture
One of the greatest passers of the game full stop. One of the best strikers of the ball ever. If he hit one properly it usually left the keeper with no chance. Good luck in retirement Paul, it's been a pleasure to watch you over the years.
A true Legend - Will be showing my son Scholes Videos when he grows up. Will be sadly missed, but, NEVER forgotten. I feel priviledged to have seen him play. Thanks Paul.
One of the most gifted footballers i've ever seen and i'm proud to have been around to watch the little man weave his magic for the last 16 years. A true great of the game - Simply Genius
@bigbasso11 No mate I felt the same way, I've grown up with Scholes, Neville, Giggs etc makes me feel old now. The class of 92 have nearly all gone, and what a class they were. United will live on...
Huge gooner and not a fan of UTD at all but i have too say Phenominal player, one of the best players i will probaly see in the cm role, people saying xavi is loads better, ssh, its hard to pick out of the two but scholes does it in the best league in the world. Lets hope wilshere and Henderson can amount to half of paul scholes and then we might win a World cup or euro.
I'm a Leeds fan and I don't like Man Utd, but sometimes you have to take your hat off and say WOW! Paul Scholes is the best English player I have ever seen and watching him play football was a pleasure. Thank you Scholes for making football a joy to watch and epitomising everything about the beautiful game...except tackling. Scholes would have fitted right into the current Barcelona side perfectly. His vision and passing were second to none and his long range shooting was mind blowing sometimes
Well, Xavi and Scholes are both awesome, but you can't compare too much I guess. Scholes could easily play further up, sorta like a CF and he'd score 2-3times more goals than Xavi easily. His volleys and long shots are amazing, and even his heading is pretty good. He only started to pass the ball around more when he got a lil older. Plus Scholes has been great ever since he was young. And he seem way more humble too.How many of you actually heard of Xavi when he was in his late teens/early 20s?
@mwebb4040 sorry but your arguments about winning major international trophies don't hold up at all. If you don't think Paul Scholes would also have won the World Cup and Euros with teammates of the quality Xavi has then I'm afraid you need a nice lie down in a darkened room so you can come to your senses. Besides that the fact that all time greats like Johan Cruyff, Eusebio, Roberto Baggio et al never won a major international competition somewhat invalidates it as a requirement for greatness
“Paul Scholes. A role model. For me… he’s the best central midfielder of the last 15, 20 years.” Xavi. I think I'm gunna have to agree with what Xavi says over random trolls on youtube.
scholes was a brilliant player but is vastly inferior to xavi in terms of linking play, keeping possession in tight spaces, and consistently playing penetrating through-passes (and you don't need statistics to prove your point either - why not just watch the game). scholes is a modern great, xavi is an all time great.
Is there a person who watches Scholes playing without loving him?

The best video about Paul Scholes you can find.
Zinedine Zidane: "My toughest opponent? Scholes."
"Gary Neville was having a piss one day, 45 yards away, by a fence," Ferguson remembers. "Scholes whacked him right in the arse."
Marcello Lippi: "Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team."
Xavi labelled him "the best central midfielder I've seen in the last 15, 20 years".
"I tell anyone who asks me – Scholes is the best English player" – Laurent Blanc

Good luck in retirement Paul, it's been a pleasure to watch you over the years.

paul scholes was always my favourite footballer.
It's a shame that he will no longer be playing football, although I heard he is continuing at Manchester United on their training team.

Nickthesloth 9 months ago 2
I'm a Leeds fan and I don't like Man Utd, but sometimes you have to take your hat off and say WOW! Paul Scholes is the best English player I have ever seen and watching him play football was a pleasure. Thank you Scholes for making football a joy to watch and epitomising everything about the beautiful game...except tackling. Scholes would have fitted right into the current Barcelona side perfectly. His vision and passing were second to none and his long range shooting was mind blowing sometimes
wonderbrawl1919 9 months ago 52
@wonderbrawl1919 he wouldn't have fitted into barcelona, he is too good for them

SVJSBH 9 months ago 2
Well, Xavi and Scholes are both awesome, but you can't compare too much I guess. Scholes could easily play further up, sorta like a CF and he'd score 2-3times more goals than Xavi easily. His volleys and long shots are amazing, and even his heading is pretty good. He only started to pass the ball around more when he got a lil older. Plus Scholes has been great ever since he was young. And he seem way more humble too.How many of you actually heard of Xavi when he was in his late teens/early 20s?
corny17 9 months ago
probably the best midfielder ever played.
sNEEF91 9 months ago
@mwebb4040 sorry but your arguments about winning major international trophies don't hold up at all. If you don't think Paul Scholes would also have won the World Cup and Euros with teammates of the quality Xavi has then I'm afraid you need a nice lie down in a darkened room so you can come to your senses. Besides that the fact that all time greats like Johan Cruyff, Eusebio, Roberto Baggio et al never won a major international competition somewhat invalidates it as a requirement for greatness
Ffcforever1 9 months ago
totally off the subject of a phenomenal player, but whats the music from 3.55 onwards?

“Paul Scholes. A role model. For me… he’s the best central midfielder of the last 15, 20 years.” Xavi. I think I'm gunna have to agree with what Xavi says over random trolls on youtube.
philipmcjim 9 months ago 2
one of the golden boys of manchester united. but he never was a good tackler xD
kylebriffa7 9 months ago
Great to see a video with an appreciation of his passing as well as just the thunderous strikes. Irreplaceable.
nineinchneals 9 months ago
scholes was a brilliant player but is vastly inferior to xavi in terms of linking play, keeping possession in tight spaces, and consistently playing penetrating through-passes (and you don't need statistics to prove your point either - why not just watch the game). scholes is a modern great, xavi is an all time great.
