I wonder if this is the only Faerie Tale story that had the narrator (the ranger in the story) talk to the audience while talking in front of the camera and playing as a character in the story at the same time. I know that in most of the other Faerie Tale stories, the narrator did a voiceover in the background. (For example, I know in the Faerie Tale story of Pinnochio, the narrator did a voiceover in the background).

Little note - the Lion's Gate production is not the same company as the current Lions Gate Entertainment. Lion's Gate (complete with apostroph'e) was an LA-based production company and studio founded by Robert Altman in the 1970s. A lot of actors who appeared in Faerie Tale Theatre happened to be friends of Shelley Duvall or Robert Altman.
