Except why did he never finish off the fills for double bonus? I noticed in a couple videos that he could have gotten a hell of a lot more points and style out of really pumping those fills.

You'll find that a good full band overdrive path has both vocals and drums skipping the occasional fill to better line up their overdrive usage with the rest of the instruments. Going at the first fill is not always the best option, especially in a full band setting.
