RE: "That is EXACTLY what I thought!!! "Mahmoud Ahmadinejad presents..."
I thought the same. Did he have a life we weren't aware of? : - )
The Eagle Never Hunts The Fly - The Music Machine [Los Angeles, California]- 1967 - "AMG pick. One of their BEST. Is UNQUESTIONABLY their TOUR DE FORCE, even if few have heard it to this day." - Turn On-The Very Best Of The Music Machine (Collectables)-1999.
NOTE: With some great songs by them, I'm glad to have this Garage Band in my collection
Somewhere in the house is my old black light. I'll grab it, and then find my psychedelic, fluorescent posters. Then I'll replay this song and really be back in the day!
they were years ahead their time on of the best band ever!! ....anyway I can't understand why the man has decided to left tv and become president of Iran, I think his previous job was more cool...
This was one of the first rock bands to use drop "D" tuning. Later on Sabbath and other bands really got with it too. They were very unique and Sean was full of cutting-edge tunes. Their version of the Beatles "taxman" is friggen' too cool.
"Drop-D" tuning is where you tune your low E string down to a low D. It makes it sound lower and more growly, and also makes the lower 3 strings an open D chord, so making bar chords on the lower 3 strings is possible with one finger, or a thumb. The old blues guys used thumb chords in drop D a lot. Next time you pick up a guitar tune the low E string DOWN to the D string.......you are ready for your journey. I would start with Music Machine or "Into The Void" by Black Sabbath........ ;)
Thanks for that. I play guitar in a 6os acid punk band,we are a floor cloth band, rough and raw using old Vox valves amps and semi acoustic guitars- I'm going to try that tuning and i'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again. With kind regards,,Lamvesp.
Love the hairdos. Bonniwell is awesome. Too bad this group never got the recognition it deserved. They influenced countless other bands and take you places you never imagined. What's Bonniwell doing these days?
Sean Bonniewell is still better vocally than 99% of the singers Today, and this song was cut like 40 years ago! Incredible Talent! This Band is the Forerunner of "Heavy Metal". Thanks for this great clip!
I think it is about an Eagle trying to catch a fly. You see, the eagle thinks it is a bat and the flies are mosquitos...in other words, it is a story of the singers brother who put some LSD on bread and fed it to an eagle which in turn twisted its imagination and made it feel like a bat. Got it?
Hey Ugly Beat(s)! Sam here. Doug Rhodes, the organist had only one glove, on his left hand. Made sence, since it would've been hard to do the right-handed thing with a glove on.
Love The Music Machine! "Talk Talk" has to be one of garage rocks' most snearing, in-your-face tracks. This one sounds like Iron Butterfly don't you think?
The Eagle Never Hunts the Fly is the name of this song. This song has really early metal sounds. Not bad for mid 60's singling and playing. Too bad Original Sounds records never gave them much promotion.
R.I.P. Sean Bonniwell, an under appreciated great of 1960's music.
