  • R.I.P. Sean Bonniwell, an under appreciated great of 1960's music.

  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammer !!

  • RE: "That is EXACTLY what I thought!!! "Mahmoud Ahmadinejad presents..."

I thought the same. Did he have a life we weren't aware of? : - )

The Eagle Never Hunts The Fly - The Music Machine [Los Angeles, California]- 1967 - "AMG pick. One of their BEST. Is UNQUESTIONABLY their TOUR DE FORCE, even if few have heard it to this day." - Turn On-The Very Best Of The Music Machine (Collectables)-1999.

NOTE: With some great songs by them, I'm glad to have this Garage Band in my collection

  • One of the coolest songs / recordings ever.

  • Hi Sam;

I still have that visit card you left me..

  • Somewhere in the house is my old black light. I'll grab it, and then find my psychedelic, fluorescent posters. Then I'll replay this song and really be back in the day!

  • Casey Kasem is the MC!

and yeah, he's got his Ahmadinejad on !

  • Achmadenijahd

  • they were years ahead their time on of the best band ever!! ....anyway I can't understand why the man has decided to left tv and become president of Iran, I think his previous job was more cool...

  • The lead singer had a great voice - he could have done some versions of soul and rhythm and blues tunes!!!

  • great

  • oddest hair cuts but great music ignore the singing

  • POwer !!! great sound

  • what is the name of this song

  • name of the song is "eagle never hunts the fly"!

  • I thought that was the president of Iran introducing the band!!

  • Hahahahahahaha

That guy so does look like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

  • So now you know why Casey Kasem didn't keep the beard.

  • Wow. Is that Casey Kasem??? I didn't even realize. Watching this again, it does sound like Shaggy introducing them.

  • hahahaha i thought the same

  • uhahauhahuaha That is EXACTLY what I thought!!! "Mahmoud Ahmadinejad presents...The Music Machine!!!" ahahahahaha

  • This was one of the first rock bands to use drop "D" tuning. Later on Sabbath and other bands really got with it too. They were very unique and Sean was full of cutting-edge tunes. Their version of the Beatles "taxman" is friggen' too cool.

  • What's drop"D"tuning? Thanks in advance.

  • "Drop-D" tuning is where you tune your low E string down to a low D. It makes it sound lower and more growly, and also makes the lower 3 strings an open D chord, so making bar chords on the lower 3 strings is possible with one finger, or a thumb. The old blues guys used thumb chords in drop D a lot. Next time you pick up a guitar tune the low E string DOWN to the D string.......you are ready for your journey. I would start with Music Machine or "Into The Void" by Black Sabbath........ ;)

  • Thanks for that. I play guitar in a 6os acid punk band,we are a floor cloth band, rough and raw using old Vox valves amps and semi acoustic guitars- I'm going to try that tuning and i'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again. With kind regards,,Lamvesp.

  • Absolute Tune!!!

  • looks like anton lavey was their stylist.

  • Love the hairdos. Bonniwell is awesome. Too bad this group never got the recognition it deserved. They influenced countless other bands and take you places you never imagined. What's Bonniwell doing these days?

  • Sean Bonniewell is still better vocally than 99% of the singers Today, and this song was cut like 40 years ago! Incredible Talent! This Band is the Forerunner of "Heavy Metal". Thanks for this great clip!

  • this band is awesome, their lyrics makes me wannna get fucked up.

  • fuck yeh!

  • Farrrrrrrrrrrrrr outttttttttttttttt maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan...this is groovy!

  • Groovy.

  • Holy crow, but Casey Kasem back then was the spitting image Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

  • This is a war protest song. Really good. Thanks for posting. I only have this on one 45 I got by chance from England.

  • It's actually about ecology

  • That could be. I will think about that!

  • I think it is about an Eagle trying to catch a fly. You see, the eagle thinks it is a bat and the flies are mosquitos...in other words, it is a story of the singers brother who put some LSD on bread and fed it to an eagle which in turn twisted its imagination and made it feel like a bat. Got it?

  • what?

  • Ohhhhhhhhhhh duuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, I think I was having a flashback....wow, man, wow! Don't do LSD...that stuff isn't too groovy, man.

  • The gloves were a prop. I have the 45 of this. Great band. Where are they now?

  • Fuck! Fuck fuck fuck! I didn't know they had a video of this... what show is this?

  • Damn! Fucking incredible!

  • these guys were the coolest. i wish they'd show the keys more...i wanna know how he played with those gloves on.

  • Hey Ugly Beat(s)! Sam here. Doug Rhodes, the organist had only one glove, on his left hand. Made sence, since it would've been hard to do the right-handed thing with a glove on.

  • Oops. I meant to say "sense", not sence. Cents. whatever...

  • Wow, I didn't know president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran hosted this show.

  • Whoa dude, tripie

  • the glove rules the world from the TV stage, so many groups have stolen Sean's act, include but not limited to Alice Cooper, you Republican poser...

  • Haven't listened to the record in a looong time, 100% amazing footage!

Thank you so much for sharing!!

  • Yeah, very punk sounding. Way before their time.

  • Way to go Sean......I just wonder whether M. Bonniwell ever went to see that on you tube...and get his appreciation

  • Excellent rare clip. I'd also love to find them doing Double Yellow Line. Hey, isn't that Casey Casem?

  • yes

  • Is anybody hungry ? this should satisfy your appetite.

  • Great!!!

  • Love The Music Machine! "Talk Talk" has to be one of garage rocks' most snearing, in-your-face tracks. This one sounds like Iron Butterfly don't you think?

  • That's because MM influenced the Iron Butterfly

  • Oh yeah, of course. Both bands were from L.A. and all.

  • The Eagle Never Hunts the Fly is the name of this song. This song has really early metal sounds. Not bad for mid 60's singling and playing. Too bad Original Sounds records never gave them much promotion.

  • totally amayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyzin yeh yeh yeh

  • HEY its the FUZZTONES

  • cool garage punk - bring it on
