I still have mine :D still works, and the Atari 2600, those were the days 1980's simple life, simple times, simple computing. Not that I don't like today's times to. Just miss the 1980's somewhat, having fun with my brothers on the atari 2600, or playing gun ship on the C64, 1541 disc drive :)
Fun that it was actually pronounced "Vic" in english speaking countries. In Germany it was marketed as VC-20 (vau-ce zwanzig) and explained as "Volkscomputer" ....
My first computer was a VIC... Then a 64... Then a 128,,, Then a PC... I actually cried over choosing a PC clone over a Commodore Amiga for my graduation gift... It was just that by 1991 (which was when I graduated) the demise of Commodore was, well, inevitable.
If there had been a Kobayashi Maru simulation on that thing, Shatner might've reprogrammed it so he'd win guaranteed. It might be considered "original thinking".
Lol, awesome video. I liked the way he even referred to it as "the wonder computer of the 1980s", like he knows computers in the 90's are going to be way more badass, but for now your stuck with this.
@00101011001 That's how I felt. I didn't feel like we were getting anywhere till about the time the Mac, the Amiga, and the Atari 520ST came out. They were pretty close to what I thought of as "real" computers, but there was still something missing. It wasn't till I bought my first 486 that I thought, "Yeah, THIS is what I expected as a 'computer' when I was a kid in the 70s!"
i bet this computer could do at least warp 5

if VIC-20 was like running very fast, C64 was warp 8.

I still regret that in many ways.

Ahh the days before the Commodore 64 were so primitive.

With how he talks about the Commodore VIC-20, I was half expecting him to explain some key aspects about the Genesis Device.

This was the first computer my parents bought, they didn't use it for more than a year.

I just realized that PC gaming has been reviling console gaming since even before the original NES. :s

For your $300, I wonder how much of it went to pay Shatner for this ad

What was so cool about the VIC 20 is it came with that little booklet that taught you basic. It was fun!

I remember playing with the Commodore VIC-20 computer during the mid-1980s, doing both programming in BASIC and playing video games.
