Because if you REALLY think about it, she wouldn't really know about animals on the ground since she has never been there before and she said, and I quote, "If I knew the ground had so much up it's sleeve I would have come here sooner and never leave" meaning she has never been down there. So unless they teach them about ground animals, she shouldn't really know.

@joman394 Well yes, that's logic. If at my former school we never taught me about other animals than those who live in my country, I would probably never know their existence. But when you think about it, Twilight for instance has a huge-ass library that has all of Equestria inside them, she's probably not the only one around who read books about what she can't see or reach by easy means, like Fluttershy who is a very poor flyer. I think she read some of these books or knew that by somepony.

BY the way - don't you think that "Butterfly" sounds stupid? In each other languages people have a special word for this creature. In france it's "Papillon" In Germany - "SCHMETTERLING" And those words can't exist as another meaning. In english it's just butter + fly :-( And there's a lot of other examples.
