  • that is not the spider!

that is simply 1234 1234 etc down the strings mate. The spider is a diagonal fingering up and down the strings...

  • ...believe or not there are quite a few exercises that guitarists call 'the spider'. This is the one I was taught many moons ago. Whatever you call it, I assure you this is a great exercise!

  • yeah my apologese, i realised theres many spiders after i wrote the comment. Would be good to make another vid with the diagonal method as crosspicking is also involved.

  • I had never heard of it, but i just had fun learning how to do it. i can do it now but im just wondering how do i apply this to better my guitar playing?

  • this is not something that you apply to your playing like you would do with a phrase or a riff. This exercise betters the posture of your left hand and makes you play with the very tip of your left hand fingers...you will notice the benefits by doing this over a period of time.

  • 2weeks later update: thanks a lot for this exercise, i enjoy playing it as a warm-up. it helps to get some good control in the left hand!

  • @playgtrcouk I also learned this exercise as "The spider", som guitar teachers call it fixed finger exercise, nevertheless, it's a great exercise.:)

  • @jleyens ty saved me the comment!

  • good lesson thx
