Johan is way more sentimental than Messiah, proof for that is that Messiah never reached Johan's performances in any of the "Epicus..." songs. I'd like to hear Johan sing "Well Of Souls", though. Interesting, wouldn't it be? Personally, I love them both. All right, I favour Johan a little bit!

I dont agree. Messiah ruined candlemass songs when they played live! He just did not sing as good as on the records, but the worst thing was that he couldnt shut his mouth one minute. Always (when not singing) couraging people to headband and shout... like they wouldnt know when to do it themselves.

As far as albums go,he is an incredible vocalist yes.Have you ever seen them live with him?Ive seen a lot of clips from those concerts here on youtube,and there was also included one on an album I´ve got.He´s always like that and it drives me crazy every time.If youre in the crowd drunk you might not give a fuck,but I´ve seen ém with Lowe live three times, and he lets the other guys show off a little bit too.If theres a break with cool solos he doesnt try to make everyone sing that solo.

He is absolutely amazing, not just singing, but also very theatrically improvising at performance. The tempo is doomier than original, and Johan feels free at singing it, so he colors it more than usual with wobbly vibrato, but hey, its a concert. Its totally supposed be like that, fucking live!! \m/

Leif says he won't ask Johan to join Candlemass again because Johan doesn't really like 'metal music' anymore. I read it on the Candlemass forums: the fans were given the opportunity to ask the band any question and that matter came up. Who knows? Rob is doing a great job with the vocals but I do have to admit... I wish Johan had stayed on Candlemass a little longer. He rules indeed.

that's right, Johan was into more pop music back then, and he was dealing with personal matters, such as getting married and stuff, that's why he was never listed as an official frontman, in fact, in epicus he just helped with the vocals, was not a permanent member. too bad, right? I always thought he was a better singer than Marcolin.

@emruinas Johan was technically never in candlemass. He agreed to do the vocals on the first album as a favor. He's not really into metal. He wanted to do some pop stuff, so, that was the end of that.

Thanks for this great video! Johan Langqvist is one of the best vocalist in Metal. Anyone who has doubts must track the JONAH QUIZZ demo (which I sadly only have mp3s). This demo shows him singing for a more classical HM band yet it's pure gold too.
