Hi Nick -- a few questions about the scale used. Can you share the make and model, the resolution, and let us know how fast it reacts (ie. is there much lag when you're pouring liquid into it)?
@mrsoyboy Hey Chauncey! The pulling of the gold filter effectively ends your brew. The drain just filters-out the tiny bit of suspended fines (the quantity of which depends on your grinder and grind setting). I usually shoot for about 3min30sec total brew time, but I'm thinking about trying to grind coarser and go 4 minutes and see how it changes the taste.
On the front-end, I like to pour in 3 steps, pausing for the bloom to stop expanding before proceeding. That's just a habit though.
@nickcho1 I will definitely give that a whirl. I'm thinking it or a variant might come in handy for the Technivorm too. I've been dialing the Rocky way up and down in coarseness and finding that the extra flavors (good) by going finer are quickly overshadowed by the bitterness (bad) introduced by the too long drawdown and ponding by the seemingly clogged filter. Thinking this might help the circulation. You are always on the cutting edge...thanks for keeping us in the know.

I want to be skeptical about this, because it seems so damn weird... Curiosity says otherwise...
